So Help Me Todd, the story of a private detective and his lawyer mother, was canceled after two seasons, but don't despair – there have been plenty of light-hearted crime shows in the history of television that you can watch with your kids.
1. The Hardy Boys, 2020-2023
Frank and Joe Hardy are ordinary boys, sixteen and twelve years old. They play video games and ride bikes. The boys are very close to their mother, Laura, and their father Fenton, a police detective, is rarely involved in raising his sons.
The Hardy family's near-perfect life is shattered when Laura is tragically killed in a car accident. To help the boys cope with their grief, Fenton decides to move to Bridgeport for the summer to live with the boys' aunt and grandmother. It is here, in a quiet provincial town, that Joe and Frank's mysterious adventure begins as they search for clues to their mother's death.

I got to go over and see him today, which was so lovely and so nice to see him with my daughter and just go over and give love.” She added, “As a family, especially my sisters and I, we’re just so grateful for the love that comes at him. I think it is such a reflection of who he is.”

Moonlighting creator Glenn Gordon Caron has spoken to Bruce Willis about the ’80s hit dramedy, which is making its streaming debut on Hulu.
He shared a health update on Willis, who played detective David Addison opposite Cybill Shepherd’s Maddie Hayes, who owned the Blue Moon Detective Agency.
Willis, 68, has frontotemporal dementia and retired from acting in 2022.
“The process [to get Moonlighting on streaming] has taken quite a while and Bruce’s disease is a progressive disease, so I was able to communicate with him, before the disease rendered him as incommunicative as he is now, about hoping to get the show back in front of people,” Caron told the New York Post. “I know he’s really happy that the show is going to be available for people, even though he can’t tell me that. When I got to spend time with him, we talked about it and I know he’s excited.

“Moonlighting” lovers are a dedicated crew — it was the kind of wildly imaginative, smart, sophisticated series that inspired passionate loyalty over the course of its 66 episodes (the two-part pilot is shown as a single episode) and five seasons on the air. What’s even more remarkable about fans’ dedication is the relative rarity of the series; the Glenn Gordon Caron-created genre hybrid has rarely been in regular syndication and its DVD releases have been out of print since 2013.
Not that the DVD releases really satisfied the die-hard fans. Sure, they got to relive just what all the fuss was about when the show took the country by storm back in 1985, as former model Maddie Hayes (Cybill Shepherd) and wise guy detective David Addison (a pre-“Die Hard” Bruce Willis) investigated crimes, bickered, broke the fourth wall, and generally served as television trailblazers up to and including the “Moonlighting” curse...

Bruce Willis first stepped into the limelight after his role as David Addison in the 1898 movie Moonlighting. Needless to say, he steadily rose to star status and instantly became a household name. Over the years, he’s racked up over 70 credits and received numerous global recognitions. It’s a no-brainer that Willis made the list of the greatest American movie stars for his effortless performances in over four decades. He’s redefined the film landscape through his appearances in the famed Die Hard series, Armageddon, The Sixth Sense, and Nobody’s Fool. Unfortunately, it’s saddening that Willis is stepping away from all...

Love stories are difficult on television. We've had plenty of them, of course, but there is a prevailing thought about TV couples; if you hook them up and make them happy, people will stop watching the show. The first story that comes to mind is David Addison (Bruce Willis) and Maddie Hayes (Cybill Shepherd) from "Moonlighting." The show was based on the angry flirtation between the two of them, and when they finally got together, the show suffered, both in audience opinion and ratings. There were other reasons for the end of "Moonlighting," but that is often cited as the main one. "Cheers" is another popular one that suffered once the main characters Sam (Ted Danson) and Diane (Shelley Long) got together. It's something "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" creator Joss Whedon cites as the reason Buffy's relationships never really went well.
Whedon spoke about this in a 2003 interview with Salon.

With Bruce Willis’ recent, tragic frontotemporal dementia diagnosis revealed, we here at JoBlo thought the time was right to celebrate the show that made him a star, Moonlighting, in which he co-starred with Cybill Shepherd. At the time, Willis was a complete unknown, with only a one-episode guest starring role as a bad guy on Miami Vice to show for his early years in Hollywood. All that changed when the creators of Moonlighting were looking for a fresh face to play a wisecracking private eye named David Addison. On the show, he would be paired with Cybill Shepherd, who was then already a pretty big star thanks to a run of movies in the seventies that included The Last Picture Show and Taxi Driver. In this, she would play a former model who, after having her fortune embezzled, discovers she owns a low-rent detective agency run by Willis’ Addison.
