Dominic Thiem thought about quitting tennis but he was never close to it due to a fire burning inside of him to give it a try.
The Austrian's career took a turn for the worse in Mallorca when he injured his wrist during a match with Mannarino. He missed a long time with the injury due to rushing back for the US Open where he would have been the defending champion reinjuring it in practice.
A conservative approach saw him miss even more time eventually returning on clay the following year but his tennis was poor. It's still quite poor with only a few glimpses of his old self back. It was a tough time for him but he never lost hope despite thinking about quitting.
There were many, many very tough moments, but somehow, deep inside, there was the feeling that I still have something in me, or at...

Dominic Thiem has embarked on a new chapter in his career by adding two fresh faces to his coaching team.
This comes in the aftermath of his recent split with former coach Nicolas Massu. Thiem has recruited Benjamin Ebrahimzadeh, an experienced coach, and Matthias Kapl, a skilled physiotherapist, to his team as they kick off their trial phase in Monte Carlo.
Thiem is eager to make a strong comeback after a series of ups and downs in recent years. With Ebrahimzadeh's coaching prowess and Kapl's keen understanding of physical conditioning, the Austrian hopes to achieve new heights in his game.
Ebrahimzadeh, a former tennis player himself, has previously worked with several high-profile players on the Atp Tour, including the likes of Cedrik Marcel-Stebe, but also Wta star Angelique Kerber.
The Atp 1000 event in Monte Carlo will serve as a testing ground for this new team dynamic, with both Ebrahimzadeh and...

Dominic Thiem is rapidly gaining confidence and it only took a few wins at the Estoril Open last week to get him going.
The Austrian looked very in control against solid veteran Richard Gasquet at the 2023 Monte-Carlo Masters, advancing after two sets. His game is looking more and more like the Thiem of old and there is proper power in his shots, something that was missing before. It's a huge part of how he plays and it shows him fully trusting his wrist again.
The power was not there last year even when I started to win matches and playing better. In the inner season the power was not there yet. Also maybe not in the beginning of the year, but now, which makes me very happy, the last month, last weeks, it's coming back, especially in practice.
The week in Estoril was a very positive one despite the loss to Quentin Halys.

Vienna (Austria), April 9 (Ians) Austrian tennis player Dominic Thiem has announced that he mutually decided with coach Nicolas Massu to end their player-coach relationship.
The pair’s partnership lasted more than four years. They first began working together in early 2019 and Thiem soon thereafter won his first Atp Masters 1000 title at the 2019 BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells.
The Austrian claimed a career-best five titles that season and reached the final at Roland Garros and the Atp Finals.
“What an incredible journey… It all started in early 2019 – you came along with your incredible energy and extreme love for the sport,” Thiem wrote on Instagram.
“That’s how we won the US Open and Indian Wells. But we also reached the finals of the Australian Open, the French Open, and twice at the Nitto Atp Finals. I think that shows we’re an incredible team. But unfortunately, everything has an end and this end came now.

Dominic Thiem won't be working with coach Nicolas Massu anymore as the two announced a split.
Over the past year, the Austrian tried to regain his top form after coming back from an injury and the Chilean was trying to help him with it. In the most recent event, the 2023 Estoril Open, Thiem reached his first quarterfinals in over five months, but the two still split afterward.
The 2020 US Open champion struggles with consistency and he'll try to find it under the guidance of another coach. The Thiem-Massu collaboration began in early 2019, a serendipitous union that united Thiem's raw talent and Massu's infectious passion for the sport. Together, they conquered the US Open and Indian Wells, etching their names into the annals of tennis history.
The pair's journey, however, has come to an end. In a heartfelt statement, Thiem expressed his gratitude to Massu for their "incredible and beautiful time" together,...
