Killer Mike has announced Michael Deluxe, a deluxe edition of the solo album he shared back in June. The new release will arrive next Friday, September 15th, and Mike is celebrating the announcement by sharing a bonus track called “Maynard Vignette” featuring T.I., Jid, and Jacquees.
Along with the original tracklist that comprises Michael, Michael Deluxe will feature four new bonus tracks: “Maynard Vignette” along with “Yes,” “Get Some Money,” and “Act Up.” A press release describes is as something like a “director’s cut,” expanding beyond the more concise version Mike had whittled down for the initial release. Additionally, fans can finally get their hands on the music in physical formats, with the long-awaited vinyl and CD versions of the album available to pre-order now.

Swedish electronic band Little Dragon are back with “Slugs of Love,” a spirited new single. Check it out below.
Slugs are famously slow molluscs, but “Slugs of Love” wiggles at a much quicker pace with propulsive bass from Little Dragon’s Fredrik Wallin and animated vocalizations from Yukimi Nagano. It’s the type of song the Gothenburg group says should be played “by a bunch of youngsters with rubberboots in different sparkling colors.” As for the slug reference, they clarified:
“Did you know that Leopard Slugs perform a very sensual and acrobatic dance, an exchange between two individuals carrying the same set of reproduction systems? Maybe we are all yearning for love and ecstasy, as we turn more sluggish and slimy trying to convey this urge.”
The track marks Little Dragon’s first release since last year’s Opening the Door EP, which featured an appearance from Jid. Their last LP,...

What a difference two years make. On 2019’s Mirrorland, Earthgang conjured a stew of Black music idioms – trap, sampled soul, Southern blues, percussive polyrhythms – with audible joy. Breaking into Billboard’s top 40 albums chart, the album established Olu (a.k.a. Johnny Venus) and WowGr8 (a.k.a. Doctur Dot) as one of the more imaginative hip-hop acts to emerge in recent years, albeit one bedeviled by comparisons to Atl’s greatest duo, Outkast. Yes, Olu harmonizes with a yelp reminiscent of Andre 3000 at his most animated. But Earthgang is...

The two Atlanta rappers in Earthgang know their music has a tendency to cover a lot of ground. The duo, comprised of Olu (a.k.a. Johnny Venus) and WowGr8 (born Eian Parker), have spent the past few years reinventing Southern rap at a pace as dizzying as it’s been dazzling. For their second major-label album, Ghetto Gods, they decided to give listeners a road map. It started with shooting a sequence of five music videos to get across the sounds and themes on the project. “We’re so creative,...

Ed Sheeran’s new album, No.6 Collaborations Project, feels like a game of musical Mad Libs. 22 guest vocalists are spread, seemingly at random, across 15 tracks that riff through styles — lead-footed southern rock and featherweight acoustic balladry, lithe R&b and a clumsy homage to Aftermath Entertainment, Latin pop and willowy dancehall — like socialites on a shopping spree.
Sheeran has presented the new album as a return to the freedom of his pre-major-label days, before legal red-tape and commercial pressure made collaborations more complicated. Back then, “I made an eight-track Ep called No.
