Back in 2002, Nelly Furtado and Juanes teamed up for “Fotografía,” a wistful guitar ballad that hit Number One on the Billboard Hot Latin Songs and Latin Pop Airplay charts. At the time, both artists had rocketed to stardom with their debut albums, Furtado with Whoa Nelly! and Juanes with Fijate Bien. “Fotografía” united two forces from different parts of the industry and put their chemistry front and center, showcasing Furtado singing in Spanish for the first time. It quickly became a standout on Juanes’ seminal sophomore album, Un Día Normal.

Bad Bunny leads the 2022 Latin Grammy Award nominations with 10 bids including Album of the Year (“Un Verano Sin Ti“) and Record of the Year (“Ojitos Lindos”), but can he finally win top honors from the academy? Scroll down for the complete list of contenders in all categories.
SEEBillboard charts: Number-one albums of 2022
The Latin Recording Academy has been somewhat ambivalent about Bad Bunny, judging from his track record over the years. He has won four times, but only in urban genre categories. He lost his three previous Album of the Year bids (for “Yhlqmdlg” and “Oasis” in 2020 and “El Ultimo Tour Del Mundo” in 2021) and his previous Record of the Year nom (for “Vete” in 2020). However, Bad Bunny has emerged as the biggest crossover Latin star in the world. “Un Verano Sin Ti” has topped the all-genre, all-language Billboard 200 albums chart for 11 weeks, which is more than any album in six years.

“Songland” hitmakers Ester Dean, Shane McAnally and Ryan Tedder took a moment out of quarantining at home and Zoom songwriting sessions to host a listening party prior to the April 27 episode with guest H.E.R.
The NBC series is only three episodes into its new season and has already charted two No. 1s on iTunes — “Champagne Night” by Lady Antebellum reached the top of the iTunes country chart and No. 1 on the overall chart, and “Sway” by Luis Fonsi hit No. 1 on the Latin chart as well as the overall chart as well. Monday night’s winning “Wrong Places,” from former “Voice” contestant (and star of the Kevin Smith film “Jersey Girl”) Raquel Castro’s winning collaboration and recorded by H.E.R, is already at No. 2 on the R&b Soul chart and No. 3 overall.

Colombian pop titan Juanes recruits his fellow countryman, balladeer Sebastián Yatra, to croon on his new song, “Bonita.” It’s the latest single off Juanes’ untitled eighth studio album, set for release in November.
Co-produced by Juanes, Andres Torres and Mauricio Rengifo, “Bonita” is decked with a pop-reggaeton beat and the leaden strum of an acoustic guitar. As in many Juanes songs, his signature guitar work is accented by a touch of vallenato: a traditional folk sound that originated in coastal Colombia. Luis Fonsi’s global hit “Despacito” has broken a new digital record.
The official video of the catchy Spanish-language track, featuring Puerto Rican rapper Daddy Yankee, on Wednesday surpassed 5 billion views on YouTube — becoming the first video in the platform’s history to hit that watermark.
Note that it’s not the version of “Despacito” with Justin Bieber; the official video of that remix sits at a mere 7.6 million views. The song, whose title means “slowly” in English, is basically an ode to the pleasures of protracted lovemaking.
“Despacito” claimed the title as most-viewed YouTube video of all-time last August, and was No. 1 on YouTube’s ranking of music videos for 2017. The music video, released by Universal Music Latino, was directed by Carlos Perez and shot in San Juan, Puerto Rico, in December 2016.

Another year and another incredible Fantasia experience. Though every year has it’s share of gems, 2014 has come out as being particularly strong as far as innovative and daring filmmaking. This is a selection of just five films that impressed me, and I didn’t even include some of the repertory choices like Ghost in the Shell and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre which played to sold out audiences. More than just a genre film festival, Fantasia caters a strong community of passionate film fans and makers.
5. Remember Me (Jean-François Asselin)
Fantasia has always been a festival where some of the best films are some of the most unexpected. Running at three weeks long, with well over 200 films playing, it seems inevitable that something will jump out of nowhere to surprise you. Screening before the awful Aux yeux des vivants, Remember Me is a Quebec comedy-horror short film about a young...

Bag Boy Lover Boy
Written by Toni Comas and Andres Torres
Directed by Andres Torres
USA, 2014
Made in the tradition of the New York underground, Bag Boy Lover Boy is a portrait of contemporary frustration. Albert is a pitiful hot dog vendor who soon finds himself intertwined in the bizarre world of fetish photography. Albert’s aspirations are centered on his desire to win the affections of a frequent customer at his stall, and her apparent love for art. Raw, funny and twisted, the film rips through the perceived comfort of modern living by putting focus on one of society’s outcasts. Albert is not just a sad sack, he’s more than a little slow and more than a little different.
Albert’s trajectory over the course of the film is what really sells it. Brought to life by Swedish amateur actor Jon Wachter, there is an uncomfortable naturalism...
