- Born and raised on the south side of Chicago, Wendell Etherly began his filmmaking career at the age of fifteen. Etherly is the recipient of the 2008 Illinois Arts Fellowship Award for Outstanding Script Work; a recipient of the 2010 Illinois Arts Fellowship Award for Best Film Work; a 2008 Pulitzer Prize Candidate for Dramatic Works, and 2013 3Arts Award Nominee for Outstanding Chicago Artist. In 2017 he made his feature film debut with Market Value, which made several film festival appearances. In 2017 his French screenplay La Persuasion was an official selection of the Global Matchmaking Program presented by SXSW and Stage 32 where he received a Fellowship through the European Film Commission.
