Rian Johnson, the writer and director behind Knives Out and Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, loves whodunits, particularly due to “how malleable the genre is,” he shared on X last month. Johnson, who considers Agatha Christie’s Death on the Nile (1978) and Evil Under the Sun (1982) touchstone films, excitedly announced the latest sequel, Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, will release May 24. Southern-drawl supersleuth Benoit Blanc, played by Daniel Craig, is back on the case for the third installment with an all-star cast and brain-teasing case.

The character is a fan favorite and has already starred in Sony’s Spider-verse films. In the MCU, the character has been acknowledged, with Donald Glover’s Aaron Davis mentioning him in Spider-Man: Homecoming.

Matt Fechter, previously an agent with CAA and Hyperion, has joined Stride as a manager.
“When Matt said he was ready to cross the aisle, I knew he would be a great fit for what and how we are building over here at Stride,” said Stride’s co-founder Matt Shelton. “Matt has always been a managerial agent, so this feels like a very natural transition that aligns with his existing skill set. His easy charisma, endearing curiosity and intelligence shine through not only in the way he carries himself, but the people he surrounds himself with, and the clients whose careers he continues to build. We’re excited to have him here for the next chapter of his growing career.”
Fechter represents Aristotle Athari (SNL), Miles Brown (black-ish), Martin Martinez, Luke Millington-Drake, Maura Grace Athari (Interview with the Vampire), Jenny Gorelick, and Maggie Rawlins.

Having a birthday fall so close to Halloween can be tricky when it comes to party planning – especially when Halloweekend celebrations stretch on for days at a time. At a certain point, it gets hard to decipher what’s an opportunity to show off an elaborate costume and what’s just a regular, non-Halloween dinner party.
But it’s better to receive clarity than make any assumptions — unless you want to end up like Kim Kardashian, who pulled up to Tracee Ellis Ross’ very normal, non-costume requiring 50th birthday dinner...

“Black-ish” ended its eight season run on Tuesday night by going back to the beginning. Literally. The opening to the ABC comedy’s series finale began much in the same way the pilot did in 2014, with Andre Johnson (Anthony Anderson) waking up to his iPhone alarm clock and narrating a bit about his state of mind.
Even the opening strains of Kanye West’s “Jesus Walks” opened the finale, just as it did the series premiere all those years ago. “Ok, so I’m just your standard, regular, incredibly handsome, unbelievably charismatic Black dude who’s found a way to actually go from broke to the Oaks without a jump shot, number one hit or being Tyler Perry,” Anderson, as Dre, opened the episode. “Against the odds, I made a home for myself with my beautiful and intelligent wife, where we raised five great kids and looked after my parents.

We’re less than a week away from the final episode of ABC’s long-running and influential sitcom black-ish, and while we’ll have to wait to see what the future holds for the Johnson family—led by Dre (Anthony Anderson) and Rainbow (Tracee Ellis Ross)—there’s time to look back at the past eight seasons. Since they’ve literally grown up on the show, stars Marsai Martin (who plays Diane Johnson) and Miles Brown shared their favorite moments recently for TV Guide Magazine’s cover story. From those early days on set to iconic moments like the Juneteenth episode and Prince tribute, Jack and Diane were always in the mix to bring laughs but also provide the younger perspective on the big issues the show explored weekly. As the series was wrapping up, did you go back and watch those early episodes? What do you think when you see yourself?...

Thursday’s grown-ish finale (Freeform, 10/9c) marks the end of an era, as Zoey and the class of 2022 graduate from the California University of Liberal Arts — and it’s anyone’s guess what that means for the recently ordered Season 5.
As previously reported, the black-ish spinoff is set to add Marcus Scribner — who has co-starred as Johnson sibling Andre Jr., aka Junior, on all eight seasons of the mothership series — as a series regular for Season 5, as Junior “embarks on his own journey to being ‘grown,'” according to the network.

“It just feels like a lifetime ago,” says Anthony Anderson when looking back on eight seasons and 175 episodes of his ABC comedy black-ish. Since 2014, the sitcom set the TV bar to Norman Lear heights, bringing laughs plus social commentary via the tight-knit Johnsons, led by Anderson as high-strung father Andre and Tracee Ellis Ross as his grounded M.D. wife, Rainbow. Viewers related to Dre and Bow as they raised their five kids — trendy eldest Zoey (Yara Shahidi), clueless Junior (Marcus Scribner), curious twins Jack (Miles Brown) and Diane (Marsai Martin), and joyful baby Devante (August and Berlin Gross). Adding a third-generation perspective were Dre’s parents, stoic Pops (Laurence Fishburne), and free spirit Ruby (Jenifer Lewis). As the Johnsons pack up (the series wraps April 19), we spoke to the cast and exec producers to get the full-ish story. Visitors to the National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington, D.C., usually start their tour in the belly of the facility, where exhibits drive home the horrifying efficiency with which millions of African people were snatched from their homeland and sold into slavery. As the tour continues upward through the building, visitors traverse centuries of the Black experience in America until they reach an exhibit reflecting the present day.

Black-ish boss Kenya Barris was just hoping to get a show on the air when he first created the family comedy. Now in its final season, the ABC title starring Anthony Anderson and Tracee Ellis Ross as the pillars of the Johnson family, has far exceeded his expectations.
“We wanted to say something that as much as we grew up loving the Cosby show, the Cosby show happened to be Black and we wanted to do a show that was absolutely, positively, outwardly Black,” Barris said during the comedy’s TCA panel on Tuesday. “I never in a million years imagined that it would become what it’s become. Our lives, and what we’ve done and how it’s allowed us all to grow into what it’s grown into.”

The eighth and final season of ABC's beloved comedy series, Black-ish, is currently airing, and it's bound to satisfy viewers. It even features a guest appearance by Michelle Obama! Since its release in 2014, the series has received acclaim from critics and audiences alike, earning Golden Globe and Emmy Award wins. Black-ish centers around the Johnsons, an upper-middle-class Black family comprised of father Andre (Anthony Anderson), mother Rainbow (Tracee Elis Ross), and their four children: Zoey (Yara Shahidi), Andre (Marcus Scribner), Jack (Miles Brown), and Diane (Marsai Martin). Outside of highlighting the everyday experiences of the Johnson family, Black-ish also touches on relevant issues facing society today, such as racism, police brutality, and the election of former President Trump, among other topics. Due to the success and popularity of the show, many viewers are left wondering, why is Black-ish ending?
The series ending can probably be attributed to a couple of different factors.

After seven plus years on the air, Black-ish is saying goodbye. The ABC series will wrap the show with its eighth season in 2022, and just like us, the cast is sad to see it all come to an end. Several of the cast members shared their final goodbyes on social media ahead of the final season's premiere - including Tracee Ellis Ross, who wrote in an Instagram post, "It is so hard to say goodbye to the @blackishabc family. But, I leave full of joy and pride."
Over the years, fans have watched the Johnsons - Rainbow (Ross), Andre "Dre" (Anthony Anderson), Zoey (Yara Shahidi), Junior (Marcus Scribner), Diane (Marsai Martin), and Jack (Miles Brown) - grow up right before our eyes, and now they're all off to pursue new endeavors. In addition to Shahidi, who leads her spinoff series Grown-ish, Scribner also has his own fruitful projects lined up.
