Little Fires Everywhere star Jade Pettyjohn is set as a lead opposite Katheryn Winnick, Ryan Phillippe and Natalie Alyn Lind in Big Sky, ABC’s straight-to-series drama created and executive produced by David E. Kelley. Based on The Highway, the first book in C.J. Box’s Cassie Dewell series of novels, the project, hails from A+E Studios, which will produce in association with 20th Century Fox Television, part of Disney TV Studios.
Written by Kelley, Big Sky is a procedural thriller in which private detective Cassie Dewell partners with ex-cop Jenny Hoyt (Winnick) on a search for two sisters, Danielle and Grace Sullivan, played by Lind and Pettyjohn, respectively, who have been kidnapped by a truck driver on a remote highway in Montana. When they discover that these are not the only girls who have disappeared in the area, they must race against the clock to stop the killer before another woman is taken.

Jade Pettyjohn took great inspiration from her onscreen mom, Reese Witherspoon, on the set of Hulu’s “Little Fires Everywhere.” Pettyjohn plays Lexie Richardson, the privileged eldest daughter of Witherspoon’s character, Elena, who has always been the perfect daughter in her mother’s eyes. “[Lexie] has always actively watched and observed and taken the colors of her mother so it was important for me as an actor to be able to see how Reese would play Elena Richardson,” Pettyjohn says in an exclusive new interview with Gold Derby. “I had lots of conversations with her about it and just watching her in her element was a masterclass in herself.” Watch the full video interview with Pettyjohn above.
SEEMeet the red-hot cast of ‘Little Fires Everywhere’
As the “mini version of Elena,” as Pettyjohn puts it, Lexie frequently shows her misunderstanding of the world around her, particularly when it comes to race.

Between the custody battle for baby May Ling, Lexie Richardson’s recent abortion and the truth about Mia’s relationship with Pearl, you might have completely forgotten that Little Fires Everywhere has been building toward a massive blaze at the Richardson house.
Fortunately, the Hulu drama revisited that disaster before Wednesday’s finale was over, revealing at last who was responsible for burning down Elena and Bill’s home. But I’m not sure which fire did more catastrophic damage: the literal flames that took down the house, or the explosive fight that threatened to ruin the Richardson family forever.

Culturally and aesthetically, the 1990s were pretty absurd. The decade began with the advent of the internet and ended with the fear that modern society itself would collapse with the start of a new century. Grunge was introduced, rap rivalries led to tremendous losses, third-wave feminism took hold, hair accessories got quirkier, and the president had a major sex scandal. And yet, the '90s were also really "normal."
Normal compared to what? Now? Well, yes, clearly, but looking back, it seemed as though society at the time placed greater importance on maintaining a veneer of stability and normalcy following the more drastic changes and events of the 1980s. In response, the decade was marked by pre-woke political correctness, inoffensive home decor, and a fashion sense that essentially set the blueprint for normcore. That placid suburbia of the '90s is exquisitely captured on Little Fires Everywhere.

‘Little Fires Everywhere’ Trailer: Reese Witherspoon and Kerry Washington’s Slow Burn in the Suburbs
The roof — and also, the entire house — is on fire.
Hulu released the official full-length trailer for its upcoming eight-episode limited series, “Little Fires Everywhere.” And as said trailer suggests, you oughta know that the little fires aren’t just the ones that set a family’s home ablaze: Sometimes they’re also the friends we made along the way. Based on Celeste Ng’s 2017 bestseller of the same name, “Little Fires Everywhere” stars Reese Witherspoon and Kerry Washington as the respective matriarchs of the picture-perfect Richardson and enigmatic Warren families.
The trailer opens with the image of the Richardson’s Shaker Heights family home destroyed by the literal fire, with Elena (Witherspoon) voiceovering about how she “always had the best intentions” and being asked if she knows anyone who would do this. What follows is a look back at the events leading up to the fire, with Elena renting...

Hulu’s “Little Fires Everywhere” really leaned into the whole burning theme on Thursday with a trailer that showcases more than one flame — both literal and metaphorical — being ignited by Reese Witherspoon and Kerry Washington’s respective characters, mothers who hold secrets about their very different families.
In the video, which you can view above, Elena Richardson (Witherspoon) and Mia Warren (Washington) meet when the latter rents an apartment owned by the former. The differences between Elena’s white, upper-middle class, 4-child nuclear family and Mia’s more modest life with her only daughter are set up immediately and soon the two are at odds over the personal details they choose to keep hidden from one another.
All of this tension builds until the Richardson family home is burned down — and no one knows who is responsible for setting it ablaze.
