The annual showcase Spotify House will return to the Ole Red honky-tonk in Nashville for CMA Fest 2024. Marking its fifth year, the event will pack dozens of performances into its schedule across three days from Thursday, June 6, through Saturday, June 8. This year’s lineup includes appearances from Luke Bryan, Lady A, Cole Swindell, Brett Young, and other well-known stars, but it’s the focus on up-and-coming breakouts like Wyatt Flores, Dylan Gossett, and “Austin” singer Dasha that give this year’s lineup its fresh edge.

If you’ve attended a mainstream country concert in the past decade, you’re probably familiar with the part of the set where the headliner sprinkles in a non-obvious cover from an adjacent genre like pop, R&b, or classic rock. It’s a move with any number of purposes: to show an artist’s range of influences, to reel in a drifting crowd with a massive hit, to appeal to a wider audience, or to highlight how fluid and arbitrary genre borders really are when you strip a song back to its essentials.

Guy Fieri’s second stab at creating a giant Super Bowl tailgate party has a massive new backer.
PepsiCo, one of the most stalwart of Super Bowl advertisers, is taking a title sponsorship in Guy Fieri’s Flavortown Tailgate, a free party organized by the celebrity chef that will be held just minutes away from Las Vegas’ Allegiant Stadium, the site of Super Bowl Lviii, slated to be broadcast on CBS on February 11, 2024. Fieri held the first Flavortown Tailgate earlier this year at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, close to the action for Super Bowl Lvii.
Pepsi is adding a new flavor to the mix. Not only has the beverage giant gotten Fieri and his organizers to add its moniker to the name — the official title is “Guy’s Flavortown Tailgate is Better with Pepsi” — but it will place an oversized Pepsi bar at the event, and serve custom cocktails featuring its flagship cola.

Jelly Roll delivered his latest confessional to the late-night stage on Tuesday with “Halfway to Hell,” the first track from his new record Whitsitt Chapel.
Backed by his band, the Tennessee singer performed the rocker about being caught between “a county jail revival” and “a bottle and a Bible,” as he asks himself (a familiar theme throughout his work) if he’s “worth savin’ if I’m always fadin’?”
“This little light of mine damn near burned me alive/Lord knows that Mama tried,” sings Jelly Roll, before admitting he’s still at a crossroads.

During Thursday night’s inaugural People’s Choice Country Awards, Blake Shelton was crowned the social country star of 2023 — a win that puzzled the country legend, to say the least.
“I moved to Nashville in 1994 and man, I had a lot of dreams — this was not one of them,” Shelton said as he received his award at the Thursday night ceremony. “I don’t even know what this means, but if the fans want me to have it, I’m damn well going to put it on my mantle.”
Shelton continued by thanking his country music fans, and relishing in the glory of his new title, jokingly saying “that’s right, social media.”

On “Chevrolet,” Dustin Lynch explains how he doesn’t need much for everlasting happiness. Y’know, he simply requires a six-pack (beverage nonspecific), some Brooks & Dunn (let’s go with “Rock My World”), a little “country girl” (“dressed to kill,” natch), a vehicle (guess), and apparently free rein to rewrite the lyrics to Dobie Gray’s 1973 hit, “Drift Away.”
The song, which features Jelly Roll, the leading CMA Awards male nominee, and appears on Lynch’s upcoming Killed the Cowboy album, is a note-for-note remake of the 50-year-old soft-rock...
