A thriller feature that is set to star Kim Kardashian has landed at Amazon MGM Studios.
Plot details are currently under wraps for the untitled project that stemmed from an original idea by Natalie Krinsky, who will write the script. Krinsky conceived the idea with Kardashian in mind, and it has yet to be determined whether the film will be planned for theatrical or streaming.
Kardashian, Krinsky and Made Up Stories’ Bruna Papandrea are set to produce.
Krinsky is known for writing and directing the 2020 romantic comedy The Broken Hearts Gallery that starred Geraldine Viswanathan, Dacre Montgomery and Utkarsh Ambudkar. She has also written for such series as Red Band Society and the original Gossip Girl.
This is the latest acting move for Kardashian, who currently stars on the Hulu unscripted series The Kardashians after rising to prominence with her family’s longtime E! show, Keeping Up With the Kardashians.

Exclusive: Following a major bidding battle that went through the weekend, Amazon MGM Studios has landed an untitled thriller written by Natalie Krinsky, with Kim Kardashian attached to star and produce. Bruna Papandrea is also producing through her Made Up Stories banner alongside Krinsky.
According to sources, Amazon was one of five studios in the mix. With all being sorted out, sources close to the project say a theatrical or streaming release plan is possible, though nothing is confirmed given the early nature of the project.
Not much is known about the pic other than it being a thriller developed specifically for Kardashian. This marks the second massive package sold since the SAG-AFTRA strike ended with Kardashian front and center, after Netflix landed her comedy The Fifth Wheel over Thanksgiving; insiders say the latest deal is even more lucrative then that package.

Netflix is diving into the comedy scene with its latest acquisition, ‘The Fifth Wheel,’ a film that will feature reality TV icon and entrepreneur Kim Kardashian in a starring role. This project marks a significant shift for Kardashian, known predominantly for her reality show fame, as she steps into a more diverse acting role.
In ‘The Fifth Wheel,’ Kardashian is set to play the central character, surrounded by an all-female ensemble cast. The specifics about the film’s plot are currently under wraps, but the title hints at a comedic take on being the odd one out in different situations.
The comedy film is co-written by Paula Pell, an established name in the comedy world and a former writer for ‘Saturday Night Live.’ Pell’s comedic flair is well-known, having penned the laugh-out-loud movie ‘Sisters.’ She has also recently starred in the series ‘Girls5eva,’ where her comedic talents shine through.

“The hip-hop dancing was no problem at all,” jokes Paula Pell about working on the pop-musical comedy “Gilrs5eva.” For our recent webchat, she clarifies, “It was actually hell on earth. It was super fun and good for me to move my can. But it was really like taking an old car out of a garage you’ve been renovating for a long time. You get rid of the mice inside it and go ‘let’s move this rusty old thing.’” Watch the exclusive video interview above.

Amy Poehler has the best metaphor when it comes to talking about the multi-faceted, multi-talented Paula Pell. “Paula’s like the basketball player that plays on the hometown courts and everyone’s like, ‘She’s the best I ever played with,'” Poehler recently told IndieWire. The former “Saturday Night Live” writer — she started on the NBC sketch comedy mainstay in 1993 and stayed on for nearly twenty years — has recently turned her attention back to on-screen performing, including recent roles on series like “Documentary Now!” and “Love.” The most recent: a scene-stealing turn as the ribald Val in Poehler’s own “Wine Country,” which is populated by scores of the pair’s “SNL” pals.
Pell has never exactly shied away from flexing her acting muscles, but the majority of her non-“SNL” credits are of the screenwriting variety. And an enviable variety they are, including script doctoring comedy hits like...

Aisha Tyler has booked a guest-appearance on HBO’s upcoming human sexuality drama Open, according to TVLine. She’ll play a married nurse with a “modern outlook on matrimony”.
In frustrating but unsurprising news, Fxx has cancelled Totally Biased with W. Kamau Bell, as first reported by Defamer. At this point, that raises the question if Fxx can even support original programming. Established hits like It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia and The League were able to survive a move, but instead of debuting Chozen, Fxx will air repurposed episodes of Da Ali G Show.
The combination of Guy Branum and Janine Brito will be missed.
Individually they were great, together they’re amazing.
Balancing out that loss to comedy and diversity slightly is the news that NBC is reviving Last Comic Standing with Wanda Sykes joining the show as a producer. I tend to like the talent search episodes of Last Comic Standing.
