He Never Left opens with text that sets up the film’s mythology – a killer, known to locals as “Pale Face,” went on a rampage for a decade in Larsen City. But in 1997 the murders stopped, no one knows why and the townsfolk still live in fear of that name…
After an intro that shows us a young woman, Charlotte (Hailey Nebeker), getting slaughtered in a motel room, a la Psycho, by a knife-wielding, mask-wearing psycho we cut to the present day, as Carly (Jessica Staples) nervously checks into a motel. She should be nervous, for in the boot of her car is her boyfriend Gabe (Colin Cunningham), who is on the run from two US Marshals, Tim, played...

It’s taken a few more years than expected but 10/31 Part III has finally arrived and it wastes no time getting down to business with several faux trailers that range from old-school Eurosleaze, “The Slaughter”, to “Night of the Halloweenies” a parody of Night of the Demons, zombies lay siege to a radio station in “Radio Tower Road” and a pair of slashers “Candy Killer” and my favourite, the 70s grindhouse styled “A Stranger’s Treat”.
As with the original and the first sequel, 10/31 Part III begins with Jennifer Nangle appearing in her Malvolia persona and giving us an introduction to what we’re about to see.

Witching Season Films, a Utah-based horror production company, has shared with Bloody Disgusting the first teaser-trailer and images for its second feature film, He Never Left.
Written and directed by James Morris, He Never Left tells the story of Gabriel, a fugitive on the run from the U.S. marshals. With help from his girlfriend, Carly, Gabriel takes refuge in an old motel. But after hearing strange noises coming from an adjoining room, the two inadvertently become targets of the notorious “Pale Face” killer, whose legend has haunted the local community for decades.
The film stars veteran actor Colin Cunningham, who met Morris at the Horrorfest Film Festival in the fall of 2020. After reading an early draft of the
screenplay, Cunningham worked closely with Morris and Witching Season Films Founder Michael Ballif as they prepared for production, which began in October 2021 and wrapped in June 2022.

There are typically three destinations for a short horror film. Most of the time, they stay short and sweet. Another common outcome for these quick flicks is their joining others in compilation movies (also known as “frankenthologies”). As for the last and most fortunate fate, a short might be turned into something bigger.
There is a long history of horror shorts being made into full-length features. The Evil Dead, Saw, Mama, The Babadook and Lights Out are just some prime examples. And with Parker Finn‘s Smile (based on Laura Hasn’t Slept) continuing the tradition in theaters this weekend, now is a good time to check out other similar transformations.

TromaDance returns to terrorize Asbury Park, NJ for their 14th annual edition, which will be held — for free! — at Asbury Lanes on April 12-13. It’s two days and nights of gonzo short films from all over the world, plus a few low-budget feature-length genre excursions and one documentary.
But, the big highlight of the fest will be a special workprint preview screening of Troma daddy Lloyd Kaufman’s latest epic of grotesqueness and debauchery: Return to Nuke ‘Em High Vol. 1, the fourth trilogy-busting entry in the classic Nuke ‘Em High series. This will screen on the 13th at 8:00 p.m. and will be preceded by a Q&A with the always entertaining Kaufman himself.
Other features include Quentin Dupiex’s 2nd flick, the missing dog comedy Wrong; angry birds of prey return to terrorize L.A. in James Nguyen’s Birdemic 2; werewolf soldiers invade NYC in Battledogs; a...
