- I want every girl, every child, to be educated.
- [to the UN on her attempted assassination] Weakness, fear and hopelessness died. Strength, power and courage was born.
- [on the Taliban] I think they may be regretting that they shot Malala. Now she is heard in every corner of the world.
- One child, one teacher, one book, one pen can change the world.
- [on emerging from her coma] I opened my eyes and the first thing I saw was that I was in a hospital and I could see nurses and doctors. I thanked God - 'O Allah, I thank you because you have given me a new life and I am alive'.
- I wanted to speak up for my rights. And also I didn't want my future to be just sitting in a room and be imprisoned in my four walls, just cooking and giving birth to children. I didn't want to see my life in that way.
- For my brothers it was easy to think about the future. They can be anything they want. But for me it was hard and for that reason I wanted to become educated and empower myself with knowledge.
- There are million of children who can't access their education, and I can't be silent. My aim is to appoint inspiring stars among these communities who want to speak up and to encourage them to do so. Because if you keep on waiting for someone else, things will never change.
