In the history of television, there has been one milestone that sets shows apart, hitting the 100-episode mark. The series that make that earn the title of long-running hits and a shot at a long afterlife in off-network syndication and, as of recently, on streaming.
ABC comedy American Housewife hit the 100-episode mark in February. A couple of months later, it was canceled by ABC after five seasons. The cancellation came yesterday, a month and a half after the Season 5 finale, denying the show a sendoff of any kind.
Following the news of ABC’s decision, American Housewife cast members Diedrich Bader, Meg Donnelly and Season 5 additions Holly Robinson Peete and Giselle Eisenberg lamented the show’s end on Twitter.
The actors got support from Patricia Heaton, who starred on two long-running comedy series that received proper farewells, CBS’ Everybody Loves Raymond and ABC’s The Middle.
“Shoutout to my friends on American Housewife.

“American Housewife” co-star Carly Hughes has left the ABC sitcom, claiming discrimination and a “toxic environment” on set.
Hughes’ allegations triggered an investigation by producer ABC Signature, which resulted in series creator Sarah Dunn and line producer Mark J. Greenberg exiting their roles behind the scenes, Variety has confirmed. “American Housewife” showrunners Kenny Schwartz and Rick Wiener were also put through sensitive training as part of the “positive changes” the studio made to the culture at the show.
“I was no longer able to work in the toxic environment that was created on ‘American Housewife.’ I made the decision to leave to protect myself from that type of discrimination. As a black woman in entertainment I feel the responsibility to stand up for what I deserve, what we all deserve – to be treated equally,” Hughes said in a statement obtained by Variety. “I wish the show well, and I am...

Despite a pretty big slide in the ratings during the 2016-17 television season, the Life In Pieces TV show was not cancelled by CBS. While its total viewership is on the lower side for a Tiffany Network TV series, it remained a top 10 performer in the 18-49 demo, which is probably why it was renewed. For the first time this year, CBS comedy Life In Pieces was left on the bubble for renewal. After some lengthy and difficult negotiations between the network and series producer 20th Century Fox TV, the comedy has been picked up for a fourth season.
The family comedy has delivered solid ratings in its third season, though, while two other Thursday series, Mom and S.W.A.T., have improved their time periods vs. last season, Life In Pieces has not. Still, Lip is well received and features a very strong ensemble cast. It also is the fourth highest-rated and most watched CBS comedy series behind The Big Bang Theory, Young Sheldon and Mom, likely helped by its Thursday location.

Actress Giselle Eisenberg is ready for Halloween! Like many young women this year, the 10-year-old star is channeling Suicide Squad’s Harley Quinn for the holiday, and there is a very special reason behind her costume choice.
Margot Robbie, who plays the bold super-villain in DC Comics thriller, was Eisenberg’s first on-screen movie mom in the award-winning film Wolf on Wall Street, in which the young actress made her big-screen debut as Robbie’s and Leonardo DiCaprio’s daughter at just 5-years-old. Stars: Al Pacino, Annette Bening, Jennifer Garner, Bobby Cannavale, Christopher Plummer, Katarina Cas, Giselle Eisenberg, Melissa Benoist, Josh Peck, Brian Smith, Scott Lawrence | Written and Directed by Dan Fogelman
It is fair to say that Al Pacino has made some questionable decisions as to what movies he has starred in recently. With Danny Collins though he reminds us just how charming he can be, in a movie about reclaiming lost life…. Inspired by a true story, Al Pacino plays Danny Collins an aging 1970s rocker who keeps himself going through the use of coke and alcohol. When his manager and best friend Frank (Christopher Plummer) uncovers a 40-year-old undelivered letter to Danny from John Lennon, it inspires Danny to look back on his life and to his roots. In visiting his home town though and seeking out his family, he may not like what he finds.

Al Pacino gets his groove back as ageing rock star Danny Collins in a lively comedy-drama that draws from his own star aura and sends it up, too. At the age of 70, the titular Collins is a zoot-suited cliché, leaning on drugs, booze and a wife who is young enough to be his granddaughter, but he also has the saving grace of self-awareness and an impish sense of humour, which combined with Pacino's natural charm, helps him rise above some rather obvious psychological quandaries.
Writer/director Dan Fogelman (who scripted Crazy Stupid Love. and Last Vegas) claims the film is "kind of based on a true story, a little bit," a teasingly tenuous reference to a bit of fan-mail received by musician Steve Tilston from...

After taking Thursday off to allow reporters to bask in the excitement of the "Supergirl" pickup and to report on other networks, CBS has jumped back into the pre-upfronts fray with sextet of new series pickups including some very familiar titles. It focuses on an FBI division tasked with helping American citizens who find themselves in danger abroad. The CBS TV Studios production stars Gary Sinise, Daniel Henney and Tyler James. Is it ever too late to change directions? To mend broken fences, even build new ones? These are the main themes and ideas in the new release that’s being sold as a cutesy look at a mature “quirky” character, a chance to watch some screen vets grabbing some laughs at the expense of their Aarp status. But it goes much deeper than that. The past is not so easily erased and no “free passes” are issued. Oddly something from the long ago past is the catalyst for the title character’s turn-around. Kudos for the film makers for admitting in the post-opening title card that this isn’t a strictly adhered “inspired by true events” work. This gives them much more license for that humor provided by a screen icon now in his fifth decade of stardom. That’s reason enough to make the movie’s title his character’s name,...

Jennifer Garner has been out and about promoting her latest film, Danny Collins, which also stars Al Pacino, and she's been looking flawless while doing it. On Wednesday, the glowing actress wore a black strapless dress for the film's premiere at Stone Rose Lounge in NYC. The mother of three braved the cold when she briefly took off her coat for photos before heading into the venue, where she hung out and chatted with cast members Bobby Cannavale and Giselle Eisenberg. Jennifer was all smiles at the event, a change from her emotional interview on the Today show earlier that day, when she started to tear up as she talked about her mom and sisters. Aside from her new movie, the star also has another reason to celebrate, as her 43rd birthday is coming up, and she said in an interview that she has a fun surprise planned. Keep reading...
