Donna Summer’s widower Bruce Sudano is reflecting on his legal back-and-forth with Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign over the usage of Summer’s Seventies classic “I Feel Love.”
In a new interview with Billboard, Sudano revealed that West’s team had reached out to Summer’s estate to use “I Feel Love” for “Good (Don’t Die),” and that he ultimately turned them down. West ended up still using the sample, though with another person’s voice and different lyrics. The Summer estate ended up suing the rapper...

As it turns out, it’s actually quite difficult to sell a house with no windows, electricity, or plumbing for $50 million, as Kanye West (now known as Ye) has learned first-hand. As reported by Forbes, West has dropped the asking price of his 4,000-square-foot house in Malibu from $53 million to $39 million after struggling to sell the gutted property.
West originally bought the Tadao Ando-designed home in 2021 for a whopping $57.3 million from bicycle designer Richard Sachs. He subsequently gutted any existing fixtures and furnishing, including removing the windows and doors. The following year, West hired contractors and started prepping for what seemed to be substantial renovations. Within a year, however, construction halted, leaving parts of the structure completely exposed to the elements. According to reports, neither West nor his contractors have been spotted on the property in the time since. Mark it down as yet another unrealized Ye project.

Taylor Swift and Post Malone Were in the ‘Tortured Poets Department’ Together Way Before ‘Fortnight’
Throughout her career, Taylor Swift has landed 232 songs on the Billboard Hot 100. Included in that are the 49 songs that broke into the Top 10. Within that, 11 topped the chart. Despite having an inescapable presence in pop for over a decade, there’s one artist’s record in particular that sparked envy in her. “‘Better Now’ is so insane,” she told Post Malone when she passed him backstage at the 2018 Billboard Music Awards. “I’m so jealous of that song — that hook.” Last year, in an interview with Howard Stern, Malone recalled the interaction,...

In terms of hit songs, a few stand out from the rest. While songs like Jack Harlow’s “Lovin On Me,” Doja Cat’s “Agora Hills,” Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign’s “Carnival,” Tate McRae’s “Greedy”, and Teddy Swims’s “Lose Control” (he’d also need to submit a live version) will likely be big contenders for nominations, there are four songs that, to me at least, currently sound like possible winners.

Ariana Grande, as expected, achieved the number-one album for the tracking week that ended March 14. Her new album “Eternal Sunshine” became her sixth chart-topper, achieving 227,000 equivalent album units based on its combined record sales, individual track sales and online streaming performance. Grande previously led the Billboard 200 with “Yours Truly” (2013), “My Everything” (2014), “Sweetener” (2018), “Thank U, Next” (2019) and “Positions” (2020). Read all about this week’s chart here at Billboard.com.
There wasn’t much more action in the top five, which are carryovers from the previous week. “Eternal Sunshine” knocked Morgan Wallen‘s “One Thing at a Time” back down to number-two with 68,000 album units. Noah Kahan‘s “Stick Season” slipped one spot to number-three with 48,000 album units. Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign‘s “Vultures 1” was down one to number-four with 45,000 album units. And Sza‘s “Sos” dropped one to number-five with just under 45,000 album units.

Kanye West has 24 Grammys total, making him the most awarded rapper in the awards’ history (tied with Jay-Z). Seven of West’s albums have won Grammys, and he has additional prizes from standalone singles, features, and production work behind the scenes. His last studio album, “Donda,” got four nominations including Album of the Year, and won twice in rap categories. With such an impressive track record over the span of two decades, one might simply assume he’s likely to be nominated for his new album with Ty Dolla $ign, “Vultures 1,” which has been doing great on the charts. However, “Vultures 1” comes after West’s public backlash due to antisemitic remarks, which doesn’t seem to have ended his career, but still looms over him.

Well, it’s back at number-one for a 19th nonconsecutive week for the tracking week that ended on March 7. That gives it more weeks on top than any other country album in Billboard history. Controversy’s favourite child, rapper Kanye West has landed into another trouble.
He is being taken to court by the late Donna Summer’s estate.
The late singer’s estate has alleged that he used a sample of the singer’s hit song without permission, reports ‘Mirror.co.uk’.
Kanye, Ty Dolla $ign, Ye’s record label, and more are allegedly being sued by the estate for using Donna’s 1977 song ‘I Feel Love’, according to legal documents.
The ‘Gold Digger’ rapper released his first album in his ‘Vultures 1’ compilation earlier this month. Donna’s estate claims that the album’s song ‘Good (Don’t Die)’ included vocals of the late disco diva after the estate “explicitly denied” them permission, according to the suit.

Donna Summer’s family is feeling the opposite of love for Kanye West. In a new lawsuit filed Tuesday, Summer’s husband Bruce Sudano alleges West and collaborator Ty Dolla $ign engaged in “blatant theft” when they sampled Summer’s iconic 1977 hit “I Feel Love” on their recently released Vultures 1 song “Good (Don’t Die).”
The copyright infringement complaint says West and Ty Dolla $ign, whose legal name is Tyrone Griffin, “shamelessly” stole the instantly recognizable hook from Summer’s disco classic after they asked for permission to use it and were “explicitly denied.

You’d be forgiven for being surprised that Jason Derulo hadn’t released an album since 2015’s Everything Is 4. In the nine years since that full-length’s release, Derulo has kept himself in the public eye, whether through his Tiktoks or his steady stream of singles; his fizzy collaboration with the New Zealand producer Jawsh 685 “Savage Love (Laxed – Siren Beat” even reached No. 1 on the Hot 100 in 2020, thanks in part to a clutch assist from BTS.

After a number of delays, rappers Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign finally released their collaborative album “Vultures 1.” But was it worth the wait? And is it possible to separate West’s music from his controversial behavior and antisemitism?
As of this writing “Vultures” has a MetaCritic score of 49 based on just four reviews counted so far, all of which are classified as mixed — none outright negative, but none outright positive either. Scott Glaysher (HipHopDX) gives the highest rating, an ambivalent three out of five, and he concludes, “Listeners, fans, haters and hopefuls will be in the same place they were before the album dropped: confused, disappointed, but holding onto the idea that the Kanye we all fell in love with can still deliver undeniably good music that is worth defending.”

“Late last year, Fuga was presented with the opportunity to release Vultures 1,” a spokesperson shared in a statement. “Exercising our judgment in the ordinary course of business, we declined to do so.”
“On Friday, February 9, 2024, a long-standing Fuga client delivered the album Vultures 1 through the platform’s automated processes, violating our service agreement. Therefore, Fuga is actively working with its Dsp partners and the client to remove Vultures 1 from our systems,” they continued.

Just hours after Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign’s album Vultures 1 was taken down from Apple Music after the album’s initial distributor said it was seeking to remove it from streaming services, Vultures 1 is on the platform once again.

Kanye West has denied rumors that Taylor Swift had him removed from the Super Bowl. In a long Instagram post (rant?), West wrote, in all caps, “To all Taylor Swift fans I’m not your enemy. Uuum I’m not your friend either though Lol.”
He wrote that Swift and Beyoncé are “big inspirations to all musicians.” “I’m sure I’ve been far more helpful to Taylor Swift’s career than harmful,” West wrote, adding, “Remember I was on Taylor’s side when Scooter bought her masters behind her back.

Rapper Kanye West has once again name-dropped Taylor Swift in a new song on his and Ty Dolla $ign’s album ‘Vultures 1’. The rapper mentions Swift in the album’s 12th track, titled ‘Carnival’, reports Variety. West also compares himself to controversial figures such as R Kelly and Bill Cosby, who have both been convicted of sexual assault, as well as Puff Daddy, who was accused of sexual assault in multiple lawsuits last year.
As per Variety, Swift and West’s tumultuous relationship started when he crashed her 2009 Video Music Awards acceptance speech and declared that Beyonce “had one of the best videos of all time.” In 2016, West released his song “Famous,” which featured the line: “I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex / Why? I made that b**** famous.”

Turns out Ozzy Osbourne wasn’t the only artist who refused to clear a sample for Kanye West’s new album. The rapper also apparently requested and was denied permission to feature Donna Summer’s disco classic “I Feel Love” on his newly released collaborative album with Ty Dolla $ign, Vultures Pt. 1. But, just as he did with Ozzy, West apparently disregard the wishes of Summer’s estate and went ahead and featured the song without their permission.
A version of “I Feel Love” is interpolated on the Vultures track “Good (Don’T Die).” Summer’s estate isn’t sure if West had someone re-sing the song or utilized AI technology, but they are clear about one thing: it’s “copyright infringement.”

Ozzy Osbourne blasted Kanye West on social media on Friday, claiming the rapper used a recording of a Black Sabbath song without Osbourne’s permission and against his will. The rapper ultimately released the Vultures song “Carnival” without the sample.
On Friday, Osbourne put the following message on his social media: “Kanye West asked permission to sample a section of a 1983 live performance of ‘Iron Man’ from the Us Festival without vocals & was refused permission because he is an antisemite and has caused untold heartache to many,” the singer wrote in capital letters.

Ozzy Osbourne has revealed that he refused to let Kanye West sample a live version of Black Sabbath’s “Iron Man” because the rapper is “an antisemite and has caused untold heartache to many.” However, that apparently didn’t stop West from featuring the sample at his album listening party on Thursday night (February 8th).
West held a listening party in Chicago for his joint album Vultures, Volume 1, with Ty Dolla $ign. Apparently, Osbourne caught wind that the rapper went ahead and played a track that sampled his live performance of “Iron Man”” from his concert at the US Festival in 1983.

The 2018 film "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse," directed by Bob Persichetti, Peter Ramsey, and Rodney Rothman, was a boldly stylistic and striking foray into the flagging superhero genre, and featured a wild multi-dimensional story that brought multiple Spider-People (and a Spider-Pig) together from various threads in Marvel Comics canon. The main character was Miles Morales (Shameik Moore), although audiences also met a few versions of the original Spider-Man Peter Parker as well. Critics and audiences loved "Into the Spider-Verse," and the film would go on to win an Academy Award for Best Animated Feature.
The 2023 sequel, "Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse" resembled "The Matrix Reloaded" in many ways. It was twice as visually dazzling, and it was more narratively ambitious ... and it was only half of a movie. For being so much bigger, "Across" is ultimately the lesser movie. Ye (formerly Kanye West) dropped the first release from his project with rapper Ty Dolla $ign on his Instagram and X on Wednesday, a new song and video that features the rapper-producer’s eldest daughter, North West.
The lush video for “Talking/Once Again” opens with Ye and Kim Kardashian’s 10-year-old daughter lip-syncing to a mash-up sample refrain, while various hands of unseen people brush then braid her hair. The sample — “You don’t want no problems, you’re just/talking,” part of which is derived from a stomp and shake routine by the cheerleading squad at Wilkes Barre Area High School — repeats before North West begins rapping with a mounting cadence that reflects elements of her father’s vocal style.
“I love it here. We gonna take over the year for another year,” the girl raps. “It’s your bestie, Miss, Miss Westie. Don’t tryna test me.

“It’s your bestie, Miss-Miss Westie,” North West sings in a new clip that her father, Kanye, posted to his Instagram. “Just tryna bless me,” she continues, “just bless me.” She sings the words as she gets her hair braided in the video for Kanye’s new song, “Talking / Once Again,” which also features Ty Dolla $ign and will appear on his upcoming Vultures album.
Kanye’s contributions to the track seem minimal, other than repeating the line, “Once again the clouds are gathering to release what they held in” at the end.

For the Billboard 200 tracking week of December 15 to December 21 — just a few days before Christmas Day — Taylor Swift‘s re-recorded album “1989 (Taylor’s Version)” returned to number-one for a fourth nonconsecutive week, gaining an impressive 25% from week to week to achieve 136,000 equivalent album units based on its combined record sales, individual track sales and online streams. Read all about this week’s chart here at Billboard.com.

Michael Buble‘s holiday blockbuster “Christmas” also gained, though perhaps surprisingly not as much as Swift did. It rose one spot to number-four, increasing 10% to 70,000 album units.
