It used to be that if you won a Best Actor or Actress trophy at the Academy Awards, you fell victim to the "Oscar Curse" and made a horrific film as a follow up to your golden spoils. Judging by the general outlook most viewers had shared about Jupiter Ascending, it looks like Eddie Redmayne got his cursed movie out of the way before making his award-winning performance in The Theory Of Everything. As production has wrapped on The Danish Girl, but not yet started on Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them, the Academy Award winner looks like he's making sure to keep himself busy for the foreseeable future. The Tracking Board has announced that Redmayne is being sought after for New Line Cinema's L. Frank Baum biopic, Road To Oz. Written by Josh Golden, the film will detail "the early days of the author" behind the series...

Oscar-winner Eddie Redmayne ("The Theory of Everything," "Jupiter Ascending") will portray "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" author L. Frank Baum in a new biopic of the prolific children’s fantasy writer at New Line Cinema reports The Tracking Board.
Josh Golden penned the script for "Road to Oz" which centers on Baum's early life and the development of his hit 1900 novel - a book partly inspired by his sickly niece Dorothy. Baum led a colorful life including marrying feminist and suffragist Maud Gage Baum, along with working as a newspaper editor, store owner, poultry breeder and some forays on the stage.
Golden's screenplay has made numerous honors lists for spec scripts and was instrumental in his nomination for a prestigious Nicholl Fellowship from AMPAS. What tone the project will go for, or who will helm it, is unknown at this point. It follows in the wake of several Oscar-bait style...

The trend of feature films led by YouTube stars is not strictly an American phenomenon. British YouTube star Olajide Olatunji, known online as Ksi, and South African vlogger Caspar Lee will star in Laid In America, an upcoming feature film whose cast is filled with YouTube stars.
As TheVideoInk, Laid In America began filming last month and promises exactly what it says in the title. Ksi and Lee will play a pair of friends who cross the pond in an attempt to score with Stateside women. The supporting cast is full of YouTube stars: Timothy DeLaGhetto, Josh Leyva, and Josh Golden will all make appearances.
Laid in America is helmed by a notable YouTube channel as well. Bad Weather Films, a sketch comedy hub, is directing the film and co-producing it alongside Max Gottlieb.
Ksi and Caspar are frequent collaborators who are also two of the biggest stars on YouTube.

YouTube musicians Ryan Higa (known to the online video masses as NigaHiga) and Josh Golden (aka Golden) are back with a new music video after their popular “Coffee Shop Love” collaboration. “Sweet Wholesome Girl” (“S.W.G.”) presents an untypical view of dating and romance as the musical duo raps about wanting to be with a good girl. In the video’s introduction, Higa and Golden commiserate over a clip with over 100 million views that’s just “a bunch of girls shaking their booties.” Higa states he’d much prefer a girl full of innocence and sweetness he can “watch Full House” with, before unsuccessfully trying to use a turnip (a popular vegetable on social media these days), beet, dough, and bread to segue into the music video portion. Some feminists would undoubtedly want to pick a bone with Higa and Golden for assuming a woman who is shaking her...

Thank you. Forty-six years ago on April 3, 1967, I became the film critic for the Chicago Sun-Times. Some of you have read my reviews and columns and even written to me since that time. Others were introduced to my film criticism through the television show, my books, the website, the film festival, or the Ebert Club and newsletter. However you came to know me, I'm glad you did and thank you for being the best readers any film critic could ask for.
Typically, I write over 200 reviews a year for the Sun-Times that are carried by Universal Press Syndicate in some 200 newspapers. Last year, I wrote the most of my career, including 306 movie reviews, a blog post or two a week, and assorted other articles. I must slow down now, which is why I'm taking what I like to call "a leave of presence."
What in the world is a leave of presence?...

Legendary film critic Roger Ebert, 70, lost his final battle with cancer on Thursday, reports the Chicago Sun Times, the newspaper he wrote for more than four decades.
He joined the newspaper as a critic on April 3, 1967. He wrote about 200 reviews every year. “Last year, I wrote the most of my career, including 306 movie reviews, a blog post or two a week, and assorted other articles. I must slow down now”, he wrote in a blog on Wednesday.
Ebert had announced to relaunch his film review website Rogerebert.com on April 9. He had set up a new venture Ebert Digital with his wife Chaz Ebert and friend Josh Golden to run the website.
In his final blog post published on April 3 he wrote, “I am re-launching the new and improved Rogerebert.com and taking ownership of the site under a separate entity, Ebert Digital, run by me,...

Ebert’s cancer is back. So he’s taking a “Leave of Presence”: What in the world is a leave of presence? It means I am not going away. My intent is to continue to write selected reviews but to leave the rest to a talented team of writers handpicked and greatly admired by me. What's more, I'll be able at last to do what I've always fantasized about doing: reviewing only the movies I want to review. At the same time, I am re-launching the new and improved Rogerebert.com and taking ownership of the site under a separate entity, Ebert Digital, run by me, my beloved wife, Chaz, and our brilliant friend, Josh Golden of Table XI. Stepping away from the day-to-day grind will enable me to continue as a film critic for the Chicago Sun-Times, and roll out other projects under the Ebert brand in the coming year.
