Park City Song Summit will return for its third annual event on August 15th-17th. Taking place in Park City, Utah’s across the Canyons Village Amphitheater, Pendry, and Main Street, the music and wellness festival has tapped headliners My Morning Jacket, Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats, and Mavis Staples.
Other performers include Anders Osborne & Jackie Greene, Larkin Poe, Eric Krasno & Friends, Cimafunk, Steve Poltz, Tank and the Bangas, Josh Kelley, and Jobi Riccio. Check out the complete lineup below.
As Pcss founder Ben Anderson told Consequence ahead of last year’s event, the “bread and butter” of the event isn’t the performances, but the panel discussions dubbed Labs. With a focus on mental health in the music industry, these talks aim to give artists a platform to speak on the “healing platform of music — wellness plus music equals better lives,” as Anderson put it.

In a recent editorial, we highlighted “lifestyle” festivals as one type of event that is thriving in this challenging turning point for the music industry. If you consider that the industry itself is a lifestyle in its own right, the announcement of the new Elsewhere Festival and Conference makes perfect sense. Taking place in Wichita, Kansas on June 21st and 22nd, Elsewhere is designed to bolster opportunities for artists and music professionals in the community.
But that doesn’t mean it’s taking a strictly local approach to its lineup: Headliners include Killer Mike, Steve Aoki, Vince Staples, and Lane 8. Also on the bill are Badbadnotgood, TOKiMONSTA, Snow Tha Product, Le Youth, Blu DeTiger, Sunflower Bean, Pup, Sudan Archives, A Place to Bury Strangers, Oh He Dead, Thick, and more. As for Wichita-based talent, there’s Breeding Brainbow, Flake, Glass Age, Goaty the Kid, Paris Jane, Sir Charles, Apathy Unit.

A live-action adaptation of DC Comics’ Teen Titans is officially in the works for James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DC Studios.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, screenwriter Ana Nogueira is already on board to write the script. Nogueira, recognizable for acting roles in CW’s The Vampire Diaries and Starz’s Hightown, is also working on DC’s Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, set to star Milly Alcock.
The announcement makes Teen Titans the first film added to the initial run of DC Universe productions Gunn revealed back in January 2023. It remains to be seen how or when it will slot into what’s being called Chapter One: Gods and Monsters, but Gunn, Nogueria, and the DC team have plenty of options.
Made up of superhero “sidekicks,” the Teen Titans were originally introduced in 1964 in The Brave and the Bold #54. Founding members included Robin, Wonder Girl, Kid Flash, and Aqualad.

It’ll be another year before the Dark Knight returns. The Batman Part II, the sequel to Matt Reeves’ first bat-film starring Robert Pattinson, has been given a new release date of October 2nd, 2026.
The delay pushes the anticipated followup back from its original October 3rd, 2025 target by a full year. DC Studios insiders tell The Hollywood Reporter that the delay is a result of last year’s SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes, both of which ended in the fall.
The shift is one of many on Warner Bros.’s calendar. The Bride!, which sees Maggie Gyllenhaal directing former Batman Christian Bale, will take The Batman Part II’s original October 3rd, 2025 date. Paul Thomas Anderson’s untitled project set to star Leonardo DiCaprio, Sean Penn, and Ragina Hall is set for August 8th, 2025, while Barry Levinson’s gangster movie Alto Nights has moved from November 24th this year to March 21st next.

The trailer for Deadpool 3 — officially titled Deadpool & Wolverine — was revealed during the 2024 Super Bowl on Sunday. Watch the first-look preview of the highly anticipated July 26th release below.
Ever since Disney bought 21st Century Fox back in 2019, comic book fans have been waiting for the pre-Marvel Cinematic Universe Fox characters to fully merge with the proper MCU. There have been hints since then — the post-credits cameo in The Marvels or the Quicksilver misdirect in WandaVision — but Deadpool 3 marks the first full-on incursion of the Fcu with the MCU.
Also marking Marvel’s first R-rated feature film, Deadpool 3 sees Ryan Reynold back as the Merc with a Mouth, this time set up as — in his own words — “Marvel Jesus.” As the trailer establishes, a happy Wade Wilson is recruited by the Time Variance Authority for a mission that could make him “a hero among heroes.”
What exactly that means isn’t clear,...

What’s Christmas without the Grinch? Donald Trump has lashed out against Home Alone 2: Lost in New York director Chris Columbus over comments alleging that the multi-indicted former president had to “bully” his way into his infamous cameo in the film.
It’s long been known that Trump’s bit part in Home Alone 2, in which he gives Macaulay Culkin’s Kevin McCallister directions to the Plaza Hotel lobby, was an act of quid pro quo. Trump owned the Plaza at the time, and when the production asked to film inside the iconic building, the egotistical landlord had one condition on top of the standard fee request:
“We paid the fee, but he also said, ‘The only way you can use the Plaza is if I’m in the movie,'” Columbus told Business Insider. “So we agreed to put him in the movie, and when we...

Dolly Parton really is a Christmas angel. The icon took time out of the pre-holiday rush for a call with a lifelong fan who’s battling cancer to fulfill the man’s bucket list wish.
Utah resident LeGrand Gold, who goes by LG, was diagnosed with stage four colorectal cancer two years ago. He and his wife, Alice, created a bucket list — or “list of living,” as was scribed on the napkin — to keep his spirits up; at No. 7 was “Meet Dolly Parton.” “I thought, ‘Well, it’s never going to happen,’” Gold told local Ncb affiliate Ksl.
However, after a story about his wish went viral following a devastating turn in his diagnosis, Parton indeed helped Gold cross another item off his bucket list.
“I’m just happy that we got to kind of have our journey together in this lifetime,” Parton told Gold over the phone. “I always...

Play ball! The cast of The Sandlot took to the diamond once more for a charity softball game. Coming as part of a two-day event, the game took place in Edgeater, Florida, near where the classic film’s director/writer/narrator David Mickey Evans calls home.
Few casts of coming-of-age classics are as close-knit as the Sandlot crew. Known for their frequent dinner gatherings, the actors spent much of 2023 together as they marked the film’s 30th anniversary. There were TV appearances, special screenings, and they even took the field at a real MLB stadium. As TMZ reports, the year-long celebration was capped off with the December 15th-16th event.
Marty “Yeah-Yeah” York, Tom “Smalls” Guiry, Victor “Timmy Timmons” Dimattia, Shane “Tommy ‘Repeat’ Timmons” Obedzinski, and Grant “Weeks” Gelt were all on hand for the gathering, as was Evans himself. In addition to the big game, there were screenings, meet-and-greets,...

Consequence is heading up north and over the border for the 2023 M for Montreal Marathon festival. The annual gathering brings together independent and emerging artists from across Canada (and a few international locations!) to fill venues throughout the city. We’ll be taking over the beautiful La Sala Rossa music hall on Saturday, November 18th to present a four-act bill spotlighting the range of talent coming out of our northern neighbors.
Headlining the ticket will be rising Sub Pop signees Cartel Madras, the sisterly duo pioneering what they dub “goonda rap,” an explosive blend of underground trap and house music with a queer punk aesthetic. Then there’s alt-pop singer-songwriter dee holt, who dropped her i’ll be there EP earlier this year.
We’ll also welcome another duo to the stage, as the Juno-winning, Polaris Prize-longlisted, Cirque du Soleil-composing Milk & Bone will bring their electropop stylings to the showcase.

Disney is currently shooting its latest live-action adaptation, Lilo & Stitch, down in Ohau, Hawaii. While the cast includes names like Zach Galifianakis, newcomer Maia Kealoha, and Courtney B. Rumors that Lee would be making an appearance in the live-action remake have been around for a few months, but the actor himself finally confirmed it during an appearance on the latest episode of the Kyle Meredith With… podcast. Spider-Punk (Daniel Kaluuya). Spider-Woman (Issa Rae). Spider-Man India (Karan Soni). Spider-Horse. They’re all here, and they’re all trying to catch Brooklyn’s friendly neighborhood Spider-Man (Shameik Moore) in the new trailer for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.

With all the shakeups happening over at DC Studios over the last few months, projects have either been axed entirely or relegated to a pre-James-Gunn-and-Peter-Safran timeline. One film has bucked that trend entirely, however, not only going from HBO Max exclusive to theatrical release, but being confirmed by Gunn himself to still be a viable inclusion in his DC Universe. That would be Blue Beetle, and we now have a first-look at the movie thanks to the newly revealed trailer.
Directed by Angel Manuel Soto, Blue Beetle stars Xolo Maridueña (Cobra Kai) as Jamie Reyes, a recent college grad struggling with moving back with his family. There’s young sister Milagros (Belissa Escobedo), fun uncle Rudy (George Lopez), his Nana (Adriana Barraza), and his loving parents (Elpidia Carrillo and Damián Alcázar). While it’s good to be home, Jamie has trouble adjusting to the changes — and bigger changes are coming.

Manchester Orchestra are back with “The Way,” another song from their upcoming album, The Valley of Vision. Listen to the single below.
“I think I’m losing my mind,” lead singer Andy Hull admits in “The Way.” Like the rest of the album, the song strays from Manchester Orchestra’s tried-and-true heavy guitar rock in favor of piano, but Hull’s lyricism remains as dark as ever. “Trying to watch my obstacles/ See how fully I’ve been broke/ Let me start again,” he sings. Listen to the track below.
The Valley of Vision begins streaming this Friday, March 10th, while physical copies of the album go up for sale on April 7th. Also coming this week is the premiere of a virtual reality film of the same name that Manchester Orchestra made with director Isaac Deitz. Shot across the Rocky Mountains, Wyoming, and the band’s home state of Georgia,...

Just a few days after the all-star voice cast for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem was revealed, the first trailer for the upcoming CGI-animated reboot has arrived. Coming from producer and “permanent teenager” Seth Rogen, the latest adventure looks to take a unique direction with the iconic heroes in a half-shell.
The new preview immediately reveals an animation style owing more than a little to the Spider-Verse series from Sony, though with less of a pop-art feel and more of a gritty NYC vibe. As soon as the Turtles themselves speak, you’ll also notice that these rambunctious reptiles appear much younger than fans may be used to; while the ’90s and Michael Bay-led live-action Tmnt tales arguably show us 16-19-year-old turtles, Mutant Mayhem seems to be focusing on a burgeoning group of heroes who likely don’t have their driver licenses.
The official synopsis hints that...

Origins is a recurring new music series where artists break down everything that inspired their latest release. Today, Ron Gallo takes a look at the Bde destroying the world on “Big Truck Energy.”
On his new album Foreground Music, Philadelphia’s Ron Gallo takes a hypercritical, often comedic look at the various types of people who seem hellbent on keeping the rest of society down. With the record dropping this Friday (March 3rd) via Kill Rock Stars, the garage punk is firing off one more warning shot with the latest single, “Big Truck Energy.”
The track’s gentle psychedelic sway and layered orchestration belie the toxic Bde Gallo lampoons in the lyrics. Watching the black-smoke spewing fossil fuel guzzlers often driven by the “scared, proud men” who “will destroy this world,” the musician wonders about what these people actually feel: “Two flags were flying high/ One said freedom and the other fight.

Mastodon guitarist Bill Kelliher is big fan of Turnstile, so much so that the hardcore group is even influencing his songwriting work on his band’s next album.
In a new interview with Guitar.com, Kelliher gushed about Turnstile, saying that they’re “bringing back all the cool things” that remind him of the bands he listened to back in the day.
“The stuff I’m working on is the sort of stuff that comes out swinging, you know? I’ve been listening to a lot of Turnstile, and their last record, Glow On, to me, is fucking great,” Kelliher said. “I just love their guitars, and their production of it sounds great. Their songwriting is really good. It reminds me of Bad Brains, but if they were more modern, with some Jane’s Addiction mixed in.”
When asked if the Turnstile album has “reinvigorated” his songwriting, he responded, “In a way,...

Metal supergroup Elegant Weapons have released their debut single. The band — comprised of Judas Priest guitarist Richie Faulkner, Rainbow singer Ronnie Romero, Uriah Heep bassist Dave Rimmer, and Accept drummer Christopher Williams — have unleashed the classic metal-sounding “Blind Leading the Blind.”
The track will appear on Elegant Weapons’ upcoming debut album, Horns for a Halo, out May 26th via Nuclear Blast.
When Elegant Weapons were first announced this past October, Pantera bassist Rex Brown and Judas Priest drummer Scott Travis were named as members of the band. While they are no longer part of the group’s permanent lineup, each has contributed to the forthcoming album.
The band is set to tour Europe in June, but Faulkner says more touring, and even a second album are in the works.
“As far as the future, we are all dedicated to giving this band the longest life we can,” stated the guitarist in a press release.

Two previously unreleased tracks from the supergroup Palms, featuring Deftones singer Chino Moreno and members of the defunct post-metal band Isis, have been unearthed.
The songs have been combined under the title “Opening Titles / End Credits” and have been released via Ipecac Recordings. Likely hailing from the sessions that yielded Palms’ sole self-titled LP in 2013, the 10-minute piece serves as a reminder of the gorgeous post-metal music that the Moreno-fronted project produced.
The singer is backed by core instrumentalists in Isis: bassist Jeff Caxide, drummer Aaron Harris and guitarist Bryant Clifford Meyer. As opposed to the more sludgy/metallic nature of that band and Deftones’ harsher tendencies, Palms falls more into the shoegazey dream-pop camp, with Moreno’s soaring vocals bedded by lush guitar lines and tidal crescendos.
Ipecac releasing previously unheard Palms material might be a one-off, though the move could also hint at a possible reissue of their self-titled album.
