In Michael Showalter’s The Idea of You, it’s hard to miss the enchanting presence of the Tag Heuer Aquaracer. Far from being just an accessory, this timepiece plays a significant and symbolic role, effectively becoming a ‘third character’ in the movie. The film revolves around Solène (Anne Hathaway), a seasoned gallery owner, and Hayes (Nicholas Galitzine), a young pop star. Their unexpected romance unfolds amidst a whirlwind of complications and scrutiny. However, nestled within this compelling narrative is the Tag Heuer watch that serves as more than just a fashion statement. Emphasizing Character Dynamics From the outset, the watch is

Netflix’s rom-com “Mother of the Bride” and Will Forte crime drama series “Bodkin” led the Luminate streaming originals chart for the week of May 10-16, elbowing past higher-profile competition.
Two buzzy streaming original movies — Netflix’s “Unfrosted” and Amazon Prime Video’s “The Idea of You” — held up well in their second full week in release. The Jake Gyllenhaal starrer “Road House” continues to be a work horse for Prime Video, which confirmed earlier this week that a second installment is in development. A surprise on the original film chart was Netflix documentary “Living with Leopards,” which debuted at No. 7.
“Bodkin,” which revolves around a podcast crew that comes to investigate the disappearance of three people from a small town in Ireland years before, moved swiftly up the original streaming series chart, passing Netflix’s “A Man in Full.” The Jeff Daniels’ starrer came in at No. 2 in its second full week in release.

Oscar-winning producer Cathy Schulman knows her way around a theatrical release. From “Crash” to “The Woman King,” the long-time Hollywood heavy-hitter has wide-ranging taste that’s earned her both a Best Picture win and millions of box office bucks. But as the theatrical landscape shifts — heck, as the entire entertainment industry shifts — Schulman is staying nimble. These days, that means something that would have sounded crazy a decade ago: a massive hit that goes straight to streaming.
That’s the case with Schulman’s latest, the Michael Showalter-directed Amazon MGM Studios smash “The Idea of You,” a sexy rom-com-dram based on Robinne Lee’s bestselling novel and starring Anne Hathaway and rising star Nicholas Galitzine. In just two weeks on Prime Video, the film has smashed up all sorts of streaming records, handily proving that people do want to watch at home, they will turn out for a streaming-only release,...

“I’ve always dreamed of writing a book and having it adapted to a movie,” states Casey McQuiston, who got their wish when their 2019 novel “Red, White and Royal Blue” got the feature film treatment. “It’s my debut novel. I’m like the new kid on the block, and suddenly I’m talking to Berlanti Studios. And I really clicked with Berlanti, and then I really clicked with the Amazon team,” and before too long the film premiered on Amazon Prime Video in 2023. “It was just beyond anything I ever could have imagined.” Above, watch our exclusive video interview with McQuiston, who is also an executive producer of the film.

Michael Showalter’s The Idea of You, starring Nicholas Galitzine and Anne Hathaway, is on track to command Amazon MGM Studios’ biggest ever debut for a rom-com with nearly 50 million viewers globally in its first two weeks on Prime Video.
Amazon declined to comment on the metric used to arrive at this number. But Mike Hopkins, Worldwide Head of Prime Video & Amazon MGM Studios, made the announcement on stage during the studio’s inaugural Upfronts presentation on Tuesday.

Anne Hathaway and Nicholas Galitzine’s age-gap romantic adventure “The Idea of You” attracted nearly 50 million worldwide viewers in its first two weeks on Prime Video, becoming Amazon MGM’s No. 1 romantic-comedy debut of all time, according to the studio.
As Amazon did not detail exactly what counts as a “view,” it should be noted that streaming viewership numbers self-reported by platforms still come with many caveats. Some brands solely report total minutes or hours watched, while others divide that total by each projects runtime to arrive at an estimated number of views. Streamers almost never disclose the exact number of viewers who watched the entirety of their titles, and as Amazon did not define their metric regarding “The Idea of You,” it is possible that a significant portion of the 50 million reporter viewers only watched a short piece of the movie.

Back in 2017, Robinne Lee dropped by a local L.A. news station for an interview promoting her role in “Fifty Shades Darker,” the second film in the steamy series based on books by E.L. James.
“You’re venturing out a little bit now with a new novel…” the Kcal anchor said to Lee, whose filmography already included “Deliver Us From Eva,” “Hitch” and “13 Going on 30,” teeing the actor up to mention her career pivot. “I have a novel coming out this spring called ‘The Idea of You,’” Lee replied, grinning.
The premise was unique: A divorced mother and art gallery owner, living in L.A. on the precipice of turning 40, takes her daughter to a concert meet-and-greet and the 20-year-old lead singer of the band falls in love with her. The story, Lee explained, was “as much about a love story complicated by celebrity and the underbelly of...

Nicholas Galitzine is quickly turning into one of Hollywood’s rising stars with steamy roles in last year’s British rom-com “Red, White, and Royal Blue” (now with a sequel on approach) and this year’s age-gap romance “The Idea of You.” However, in an interview with British GQ recently, Galitzine admitted that having the opportunity to take on quality roles is a relatively new phenomenon for him.

[This story contains spoilers from Prime Video’s film The Idea Of You.]
In the new romantic movie The Idea of You, Nicholas Galitzine — playing Hayes Campbell, a One Direction-like lead singer of a boy band — falls hard for Anne Hathaway’s art gallery owner character, Solène.
Over the course of the new couple’s relationship ups and downs, a watch plays a surprisingly prominent role, becoming a major plot point in the film.
Early on, after Solène — a single mom who’s more than a decade older than Hayes — tells him, “I can’t do this. Because you’re you and I’m me and we just don’t fit,” the lovestruck singer surreptitiously leaves the watch he’s wearing on a table in her house before he departs. “We’ll see,” he says.

Love Lies Bleeding Ending Explained: Do Lou and Jackie Escape Successfully?(Photo Credit –IMDb)
A24 is quite well known for making films that do not follow the traditional path, and their latest, Rose Glass’ Love Lies Bleeding, is no different. What starts off as a passionate and pure romance between Lou (Kristen Stewart) and Jackie (Katy M. O’Brian) soon turns to roads that are bloody and full of terror. Set in the southwest of the 1980s, Love Lies Bleeding is violent, toxic, and romantic, blurring the line between reality and fantasy.
What Happens in Love Lies Bleeding?
Love Lies Bleeding is about Lou and Jackie and how all hell breaks loose when the two fall in love. Following its huge success with Red, White & Royal Blue, the adaptation of Casey McQuiston’s bestseller, which last year came in as one of its top three most-watched romantic comedies of all time, Amazon MGM Studios has greenlighted development on a sequel, with stars Nicholas Galitzine and Taylor Zakhar Perez set to return.
After making his feature debut with the first film, Matthew López has returned to write the script for the sequel — this time, alongside McQuiston. Berlanti Schechter Films’ Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter will return to produce the film, joined by the banner’s Michael McGrath, as well as López. McQuiston will executive produce.
Released last August, Red, White & Royal Blue follows Alex Claremont-Diaz (Perez), who upon his mother’s (Uma Thurman) election as President, is promptly cast as the American equivalent of a young royal. Handsome, charismatic, brilliant — his image is pure millennial-marketing gold for the White House.

Delving Into The Idea of You Film vs Book Ending On May 2nd, Prime Video released ‘The Idea of You’, a film adaptation that tells a touching story of Solène Marchand, played by Anne Hathaway, who finds herself in a romantic fling with Hayes Campbell, a young British pop star, portrayed by Nicholas Galitzine. The cast and producers of Red, White & Royal Blue — Prime Video’s breakout movie based on the bestselling novel by Casey McQuiston — acknowledge there is a fantastical element to their hit rom-com that stars Uma Thurman, Nicholas Galitzine and Taylor Zakhar Perez: A female U.S. president. A gay prince from across the pond who falls head over heals with her bisexual Mexican-American son. A delicious wrestling match between the two men in a mound of wedding cake.
But such a fantasy — besides charming the heck out of Gen Z viewers who love a good romance — could stand to make a difference in this otherwise contentious election year.
“Sometimes you don’t get the fantasy of Uma Thurman as president, but the reality of the choice that you’re facing is enormous and will affect your life and the life of a lot of disenfranchised and disadvantaged people,...

The biggest rising star of the moment, Nicholas Galitzine is everyone’s favorite, including his famous colleagues. Having recently starred in Starz’s unhinged historical drama show Mary & George alongside Julianne Moore, Galitzine never moved back to the shadows jumping straight to his other big release this year, Michael Showalter’s romcom The Idea of You with Anne Hathaway in the leading role.
While still promoting Prime Video’s new hit, the actor revealed he’d received a very peculiar gift from Hathaway after they struggled filming some specific scenes.
In his recent interview to British GQ, Galitzine said both he and Anne Hathaway had some trouble while filming their kissing scenes. According to the actor, they were so tense that their “intimacy coordinator would come in and give us a Listerine strip” so that both actors would feel more confident fresh mint breath.

Nicholas Galitzine, who has played several gay or queer characters both on TV and in films, says he has felt “somewhat guilty” over the possibility that he, as a straight man, is “taking up someone’s space.”

Middle-aged women don’t have a lot of fun in movies. If we are depicted onscreen, we are often shown as harried, hypercompetent mothers and wives. We are tragically divorcing or exhaustedly raising our children. Sometimes we do some (alleged) murder. Other times we walk into the sea.
But the horny, stylish romps onscreen are usually reserved for the younger, less encumbered women — women who are more tabula rasa than palimpsest. And I understand. I am a 40-year-old woman in America. It’s hard to have fun in life, much less in a movie.

Robinne Lee, the author of The Idea of You, regrets initially stating that the story was inspired by Harry Styles.
In a new interview, Lee explains why the fictional British boy band member, Hayes Campbell, was not just inspired by the former One Direction member after many have compared it to writing fan fiction.
“I don’t consider it fan fiction at all,” Lee said in an interview with EW. “Harry was one of multiple people who went into creating Hayes Campbell — he was the only one in a British boy band that was current at the time, I guess, and so that’s what people have latched onto. It’s unfortunate because it’s being used as clickbait, and when I’m writing for Hayes, I’m not picturing Harry Styles.”
Lee said that the fictional character, played by Nicholas Galitzine in the Prime Video film, us a combination of many real-life people.
