During the Paris Fan Festival, Taz Skylar, the actor cast to portray Sanji in Netflix’s One Piece Live-Action series, opened up about the initial wave of negative comments he faced on social media following the casting announcement.
During the festival’s Q/A session, Taz recounted his very first exposure to criticism and it was around the time when the One Piece casting news came out. He revealed that his friends informed him that his name was trending on Twitter alongside references to his resemblance to rapper Eminem.
“The best way to get me to do something is tell me I can’t do it,” Skylar stated, revealing that rather than being deterred by the negative feedback, he found motivation in the challenge. “I remember I laughed because I was like, you know what, they have a point. I do kind of look a little bit like Em,” he added.

Production on One Piece season 2 obviously can’t get underway until the SAG-AFTRA strike is resolved, but once they’re able to start, Tomorrow Studios president Beck Clements said the new season could debut as early as next year. “Realistically, hopefully, a year away, if we move very quickly, and that is a possibility,” Clements said. “Somewhere between a year and 18 months, we could be ready for air.“

Netflix's "One Piece" series officially hits the streamer on Aug. 31. On Jan. 30, Netflix shared the first look at the live-action series (which is based on the beloved manga by Eiichiro Oda) in the form of a poster, where we see Iñaki Godoy as the series's main character, Monkey D. Luffy, from behind, wearing his iconic straw hat.
The "One Piece" manga series began publishing way back in 1997. In it, Oda tells the story of Luffy, a pirate who can gain magical abilities by eating a special type of fruit. He's determined to get the titular One Piece, which makes the bearer the king of all pirates. He and his Straw Hat Pirates - which include the sword fighter Roronoa Zoro, the sometimes cowardly Usopp, and the prince Sanji - face down all sorts of enemies on their quest. The manga is still running, but Oda said in August 2022 that...

Good news and bad news, "The Sex Lives of College Girls" fans: the hit HBO Max series is returning for a third season! But, sadly, one of the fan favorites is leaving the show. On July 9, Variety reported that Reneé Rapp, who plays Leighton, is downsizing to a recurring role in season three before she'll ultimately depart. Rapp then confirmed the news shortly after, writing in a statement on social media, "College girls moved me out to L.A. and introduced me to some of my favorite people. In HBO/Max’s The Sex Lives of College Girls, created by Mindy Kaling and Justin Noble, Amrit Kaur plays Bela, who often finds herself in sticky situations for stopping at nothing to advance her comedy writing career.
“I’m very similar,” says the 30-year-old actress, who grew up in Ontario in a Sikh family. “I think my approach to acting is: There is nothing in the human experience that isn’t in me. I’m very ambitious. I love comedy. I love fashion. I am so desperate to be liked, I am so desperate to be the most beautiful. I’m so desperate to make everyone happy. Those are things that are the cusp of Bela.”
After graduating from theater school in Toronto, Kaur felt “I hadn’t learned enough, and I went around to so many acting studios.” The search led her to Gracemoon Arts Company and its founder,...

“I’ve been working with Tomorrow Studios and Netflix for quite some time now,” Oda wrote in a letter posted to Instagram. “Even though they understand each of the characters, we obviously come from very different cultures, so when it comes to entertainment, we have different codes, skill sets, and aims. Sometimes it could be frustrating for both sides. It felt like, ‘We’re all trying to get to the same place, so how come we’re not on the same wavelength?’ there was even a time when I thought,...

It’s been seven long years since Netflix first announced its live-action adaptation of the groundbreaking manga-turned-anime “One Piece,” and with the end almost in sight, it’s now finally going to see the light of day.
In an open letter to fans posted to Netflix’s social media accounts Thursday, “One Piece” creator Eiichiro Oda was frank about the creative challenges, and differences, that have contributed to such a long development. But, he also promised, “We’re in the final process! Right now! Of finishing all 8 episodes!”
However, despite Netflix announcing in January that the show will launch in 2023, Oda suggested that it might be just a little later than that before we see it. “They’ve promised that we won’t launch until I’m satisfied,” he wrote.
