This was the year that live events — and by extension red carpet pageantry — came back in full force, bringing established showbiz fashionistas out of hibernation, and instantly minting new icons. The result was an explosion of creativity where the goal for entertainers was to be talked about at all costs, no matter how many rules had to be broken. Below, the Red Carpet Renegades that drew the most attention in 2022.

Connie Britton couldn’t pass up playing operator Abby Clark on “9-1-1” after previously working with Ryan Murphy on “American Horror Story” and “American Crime Story.” “We have not seen that character depicted on TV before, so I was thrilled to be able to explore that,” says the four-time Emmy nominee, who was also in “Smilf” this year. Britton credits her “Spin City” costume designer Patricia Field with showing her “we can wear the thing that tickles us and don’t have to play by any rules.”
2010
Though the first three seasons of “Friday Night Lights” went largely unrecognized in major Emmy categories, season four landed Britton and co-star Kyle Chandler lead acting noms. “I just remember loving the blue shimmer of this dress,” says Britton, who played the compassionate Tami Taylor. “My production company is called Deep Blue Prods. so it felt fortuitous to wear this deep blue...

It’s been a busy few days for Meghan Markle. Wednesday, April 18 saw the future royal attend her first official Commonwealth event, swiftly followed up by a reception for Women's Empowerment the next evening, then a morning reception on Saturday, April 21 to mark the start of preparations for this year's Invictus Games in Sydney, and to top it all off, a special concert for Queen Elizabeth's 92nd birthday, held at the Royal Albert Hall on the same night. And just as Meghan hasn't put a fashionable foot wrong in terms of dressing for the first three occasions (we're talking about the Altuzarra striped dress and the classic "Jackie O" little black dress) her outfit for the birthday concert didn't disappoint, either — it even sent a secret message to the Queen. (Photo Credit: Getty Images) For her second official engagement with Her Majesty the Queen, Meghan opted for a regal cape...

There were so many showstopping fashion moments on the Black Panther purple carpet that for one star to truly stand out would require an almost superhuman sense of style. And that description certainly applies to Angela Bassett. The actress, who plays Ramonda, the Queen of Wakanda, in the hotly-anticipated new Marvel movie, practically shut down the entire event when she showed up in her fully fringed, sunshine-yellow Naeem Khan jumpsuit, accessorized with LeSilla shoes, a custom Thalé Blanc panther-motif clutch and jewelry by Gismondi 1754, One Six, Darrell Roach and Dorrian. Costar Daniel Kaluuya said it best when he saw her: “Look at this queen,...

Naeem Khan loves bold color in his garments, made for the likes of Taylor Swift and Beyonce. But when it came to the fashion designer’s glassy Miami aerie, he went in the opposite direction.
“I’m so used to color in my fashion that I wanted something a little different,” he explains of the 3-bedroom space in the Entertainment District in the new issue of Wine Spectator, on newsstands January 30. “Sometimes having too much color around you can be overwhelming. White is an I-can-think color.”

Ladies at the Golden Globes suited up!
While many women stepped out in beautifully sculpted black gowns in support of the Time's Up movement, a handful of actresses served up a dose of nighttime elegance with black jumpsuits and striking suits.
These empowering females not only opted to don a dark hue as a way to express solidarity for the victims who have come out and shared their personal stories, but also put a feminine twist on classic menswear.
Claire Foy, nominated for her role on The Crown, mastered the art of understatement in a black oversized Stella McCartney black double breasted suit with wide leg trousers, which she accessorized with Harry Winston jewels and a bold red lip.

Alexis Bledel wowed in a black-and-white Oscar de la Renta jumpsuit with a side tie and floral decal from the designer's Resort 2018 collection.

Why will stars be wearing black at the Golden Globes? In late December, rumors began circulating that the Golden Globes red carpet would be experiencing a blackout: Many stars were banding together in search of all-black dresses and outfits to make a statement against the epidemic of sexual harassment in the entertainment industry and beyond.
At first, there were just hints here and there on social media, but buzz began to build, and on Jan. 2, it was revealed in the New York Times that the coordinated wardrobe effort was part of a bigger, organized campaign called Time’s Up.

It's easy to see why Emma Stone and Mandy Moore are now part of the list of best Golden Globe Awards looks of all time.
The actresses stunned at the 2017 show, both stepping out in gorgeous but very different dresses that featured plunging necklines.
Stone -- the darling of last year's awards show circuit, thanks to her turn in La La Land -- looked positively out of this world in a blush Valentino Haute Couture dress decorated with a slew of silver stars. She accessorized with diamond Tiffany & Co. jewelry -- and, later in the evening, a statue for winning Best Actress in a Comedy or Musical!

Moore was equally as lovely on the red carpet, taking our breath away in a semi-sheer Naeem Khan cape gown, which she paired with Neil Lane jewels.
