The 2022 Billboard Music Awards are on May 15, honoring the biggest commercial achievements in music as measured by the Billboard charts from April 10, 2021, through March 26, 2022. This year the rock field has an interesting range of nominees looking to pick up BBMAs. Let’s take a look.
Top Rock Artist
This one will be between Glass Animals and Machine Gun Kelly, most likely. Glass Animals’ advantage is the success of their single “Heat Waves,” which has been on the Billboard Hot 100 for well over a year and was even bigger in 2022, finally reaching number-one and staying there for five weeks. Pair this with their number-one placement on Billboard’s Year-End artists chart for rock, and that makes them a solid front-runner. However, Machine Gun Kelly released a new album, “Mainstream Sellout,” and has been active throughout 2022, which makes him the likeliest upset. Still, Glass Animals have the advantage for this one.

The 2021 Billboard Music Awards was a two-night event this year, with music superstars such as The Weeknd and Machine Gun Kelly going home as winners for Top Artist and Best Rock Artist, respectively.
Celebrating music’s biggest chart-toppers, Nick Jonas hosted the BBMAs live from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday night, a day after Matthew Hoffman announced the first group of winners for a non-televised ceremony. Pop Smoke, who received record-breaking posthumous recognition as a finalist in 10 categories, dominated four of those categories, while Gabby Barrett, a first-time finalist claimed two awards.
The Weeknd, who went into Sunday’s show having already collected seven trophies, took home the Top Hot 100 song for his ’80s-inspired anthem “Blinding Lights.”
Icon Award recipient P!Nk delivered a show-stopping performance of “Cover Me in Sunshine” with her daughter Willow Sage Hart, and Drake was named Artist of the Decade. In addition,...

Alicia Keys made a major appearance at Sunday’s Billboard Music Awards with a few Songs in A Minor.
To celebrate the 20th anniversary of that album, which was nominated for R&b/Hip-Hop Album of the Year in 2001, Keys dropped by the 2021 BBMAs to perform a nostalgic medley of hits. The performance was introduced via a dramatic montage, which included gushing praise from famous fan Michelle Obama.

In just its second year of existence, the Panorama Music Festival did much to excite its fans and concert goers. Be it the countless musial artists and acts they lined up for the three-day event in New York City, or the various food, drink, and merch vendors and the interactive art exhibits, Panorama surely delivered.
Brought to us by GoldenVoice (think: Coachella), Panorama took over Randall’s Island in New York from July 28 to 30, offering an outdoor concert venue with such great talents such as Frank Ocean, Mgmt, Tyler The Creator, Glass Animals, Spoon, Mo, and more.
Last year’s first annual Panorama Music Festival blessed us with such musical acts like Kendrick Lamar, Arcade Fire, Schoolboy Q, Major Lazer, and more. And if this year sounds like a step-up from last, we can only imagine what next year will bring.

Late night has become a convenient delivery device for viral videos: Political statements, party games and wild celebrity anecdotes have become the hallmark of late-night shows, Jimmy-hosted or otherwise. But what often gets lost in the shuffle are the musical performances that bring up the caboose on most of these episodes.
Look at any weekly lineup and you’ll see an interesting mix of flash-in-the-pan sensations, past-their-prime industry vets and acts making their debuts as they ride the wave to becoming household sensations. So below, we’ve gathered ten of our favorites from the first month of 2017.

Few late-night shows would return from the end-of-year hiatus with opera selections, but this comes from the same “Late Show” that’s never been afraid to bring classical to the 11:35 crowd. (After all,...

Anticipation for 2017’s major festivals is at an all time high, with Coachella‘s lineup serving as the holy grail of the entire season. We’ve already heard some rumors about the alleged headliners, while DJ Khaled inadvertently spilled the beans on his slot at the festival. Now we have another enticing update to ponder with a list that attempts to predict the entire lineup.
A website called TravelGrom has consistently made predictions about Coachella lineups in the past with a high degree of accuracy compared to the average rumor, and they’ve just offered up their projections for 2017. While the information is just conjecture at this point, TravelGrom predicted last year’s lineup with 64% accuracy. If that figure holds true again, over half of the list will wind up on the official lineup.
The alleged lineup includes a diverse array of styles, with representation from Edm, Rock, Rap, Pop and everything in between.

British indie band Glass Animals’ 2014 debut Zaba seemed out of this world in sound and concept. Their second effort attempts to turn things around by focusing on a cast of characters who are very much grounded in reality, but ultimately remain somewhat obscure. ‘How To Be A Human Being’ by Glass Animals – Album […]

Being a movie about male strippers, music is obviously a very important component of “Magic Mike Xxl,” just as it was in its predecessor. The super-sized sequel opens next week and the details for the movie’s soundtrack have dropped courtesy of Film Music Reporter just in time to get you excited to see the whole crew again. The soundtrack gets released a day ahead of the film’s release through WaterTower Music and boasts fourteen tracks, including three from cast members Donald Glover–note that he’s credited under his own name and not under his rapper name, Childish Gambino-and Matt Bomer. Elsewhere on the disc are songs from R. Kelly, 112, Glass Animals and Backstreet Boys, as well as a reappearance from Ginuwine’s “Pony” which was memorably used for a solo Channing Tatum routine in the first film.
