Singer-songwriter Sarah Barrios continues an impressive string of single releases with ‘Healing in a Parking Lot’, a dance pop anthem about the uplifting power of simple quiet moments with friends. Along with producer Dave the Doctor, Barrios pieces together a beautiful composition that captures her anxiety through frantic verses and her eventual emotional release through a soaring chorus.
Sarah reflects, “When I was younger, there wasn’t a lot to do in my hometown, so I would go to the local Target parking lot with friends and we would listen to music and hang out by their car. I have no idea why, but that always felt like a safe space for me and still does. Music can really uplift your mood when you’re in a bad place mentally, so I wanted to capture that feeling of freedom and peace in this song.”

BTS’ Jung Kook recently released the Latto-assisted single “Seven” as an essential step forward in his solo career. This week, it was reported by the South Korean news outlet Ten Asia that the record shares similarities with “Time of Mask,” a song released by Fin.K.L in 2000, surfacing claims of copyright infringement and plagiarism. Ten Asia ran the original report citing Alpha Economy. In a statement to Rolling Stone, Big Hit Music dismissed those claims as being “one-sided.”

Tori Kelly’s release plans for her latest project, a return to her particular blend of pop and R&b titled Tori, were briefly derailed late last month. The weekend before its arrival, the singer had to shift her focus toward recovering after a blood clot-related collapse landed her in the ICU. She had to cancel her release show, but now that she’s feeling better, she’s planning on jumping right back into the game next month with a North American tour.

Mark Ronson will peel back the production secrets behind some of his biggest hits in a new 18-class virtual course from BBC Maestro.
In a trailer for the class, Ronson says he’ll show aspiring producers and musicians exactly how he creates a new track — from writing the song to laying down instruments and tinkering with digital effects. The goal, he adds, is “to show you everything I do, and then you can apply this to your own process… Things that maybe — I hope — someone had shown me 20 years ago.

When Nigerian musician Fireboy Dml thinks of his earliest influences, a few names come to mind. There was Passenger, the English folk/indie band turned solo artist, that led him to fall in love with American artist Jon Bellion. Then there was the legendary Afrobeats star Wande Coal whose intentional lyricism within the contemporary scene shaped how he approaches songwriting. But most notably, there was Ed Sheeran, whose songs inspired Fireboy to learn how to play the acoustic guitar, an instrument that, many years on, has remained a core part of his sound.

Last February, right before the pandemic upended everyone’s lives, Justin Bieber was preparing for a year dedicated to his highly-anticipated fifth studio project Changes. The record — his first since 2015 — was meant to be a new chapter for the superstar, brimming with electro-r&b material that paid homage to his life as a wife guy. The album cycle was fairly typical, according to Harv, the pop star’s music director/producer/co-writer/A&r: Face-to-face studio sessions with a handful of A-list artists, constant in-person collaborating and tour rehearsals. But...

Ben Platt is back with a new single, “Imagine.” The mid-tempo pop track, which is both tender and confident, serves as a tribute to everyday saviors — the people who lift others up in times of darkness. Its just-released music video, on the other hand, is quite literally uplifting.
The Broadway-star-turned-solo-singer co-wrote the song with Jon Bellion, Michael Pollack, Alexander Izquierdo, Jordan K. Johnson, and Stefan Johnson. It was produced by Bellion and the Monsters and Strangerz, who’ve previously collaborated on hits like Maroon 5’s “Memories,” Justin Bieber’s “Holy,...

The Grammy Award for Record of the Year goes to the artists, producers, engineers and mixers behind the year’s best recording. So who will win when awards are handed out in 2021? The eligibility period for the 63rd annual kudos is September 1, 2019 through August 31, 2020. Scroll down to see the top contenders.
The Grammy eligibility period used to be a little different. It previously ran from October 1 through September 30, but the recording academy shifted everything by a month as a result of the Oscars decision to hold their 2020 Oscars in early February, which had been the Grammys’ turf. So music’s biggest night moved to January and it tweaked its calendar. That means a lot of 2021’s major contenders had already been released by the time the 2020 awards were handed out.

To really understand the popularity of the K-pop group Monsta X, you just have to listen.
Friday, you heard it in the screams of hundreds of sleep-deprived fans who packed the legendary Roxy Nightclub in Hollywood for a private Monsta X performance, and then snaked a line down four blocks of Sunset Boulevard for a chance to meet Shownu, Minhyuk, Kihyun, Hyungwon, and I.M. at a Monsta X pop-up shop in the former Tower Records building (the sixth member, Joohoney, was out sick).
After a brief Q&a at the Roxy — key takeaways: I.

Anticipation for 2017’s major festivals is at an all time high, with Coachella‘s lineup serving as the holy grail of the entire season. We’ve already heard some rumors about the alleged headliners, while DJ Khaled inadvertently spilled the beans on his slot at the festival. Now we have another enticing update to ponder with a list that attempts to predict the entire lineup.
A website called TravelGrom has consistently made predictions about Coachella lineups in the past with a high degree of accuracy compared to the average rumor, and they’ve just offered up their projections for 2017. While the information is just conjecture at this point, TravelGrom predicted last year’s lineup with 64% accuracy. If that figure holds true again, over half of the list will wind up on the official lineup.
The alleged lineup includes a diverse array of styles, with representation from Edm, Rock, Rap, Pop and everything in between.
