Marko Steez, born "Mark van der Werve" in 1997, is from Kansas City, Missouri. His father, Steven van der Werve, is an English immigrant who moved to the United States in his 20's. His mother, Misty (Michael) is an entrepreneur and real estate manager in Missouri. Marko moved to Atlanta, Georgia when he was 18 years old to pursue his love of film.
In the summer of 2016, Marko moved to Atlanta, Georgia to further his career in film that had just begun. After working for a short period as a gaffer and editor for the record label, Strange Music, he took his talents to Atlanta to expand his own business. By the age of 19 he co-directed and was the director of photography for many hip-hop and rap artists such as Lil Baby, Future, Waka Flocka, Trippie Redd, Skooly, and many others. A year later, Marko would direct his first major music video for Future and Lil Durk titled "Last Name", which was released in November of 2019. After this, Marko quickly became one of the most sought after directors in Atlanta.
In the beginning of 2020, Marko began to expand more. He founded his entertainment / production company, Capital Media Entertainment, with the help of his casting director, Devin Carpenter, and his A&R, Brett Marron. Capital Media Entertainment grew rapidly and added many new members onto their staff. Marko invested heavily into his company and by the middle of 2020 had purchased 2 grip trucks which included a 1 Ton and a 3 Ton grip truck package which he called "The Film Trucks", with his goal of renting it out to other productions and using the trucks for their own projects.
Since then, Marko and his team have been expanding their staff and their talents. As of mid-2020 he says his goal is to move into feature length films. Their main focus up to then had been music videos, commercials, and short films. Capital Media Entertainment is evolving to become a full service company that also has major roles in music management and promotion.
