Brian Wallach was in his mid-30s, a highly successful lawyer and veteran of the Obama White House when his life took a sudden and dramatic turn. He visited a doctor for a persistent cough and mentioned he had also been experiencing muscle tremors and weakness in one hand. Soon he came away with a devastating diagnosis: the neurodegenerative disorder Als. He was given six months to live.
But he and his wife Sandra refused to accept his fate passively. The story of how they have fought to improve the lives of people with Als and ramp up funding for research towards a cure is told in the Prime Video documentary For Love and Life: No Ordinary Campaign.

The Breakthrough Prize Ceremony, also known as “the Oscars of Science,” is an awards show unlike any other.
Founded and funded by Silicon Valley titan Yuri Milner and his artist wife Julia Milner, Google co-founder Sergey Brin, 23andMe co-founder Anne Wojcicki, and Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg and his Chan-Zuckerberg Initiative co-founder Priscilla Chan, the Breakthrough Prize recognizes “scientists changing the world” with award statuettes and sizable cash prizes. And on Saturday night, at the ceremony’s 10th edition — the second in a row held on the roof of the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, with the Hollywood Hills glistening in the background — presenters, performers and audience members included a collection of A-listers that could give the Oscars a run for their money.
One could turn left and spot Bill Gates and Robert Downey Jr. sitting at the same table, or right and find tablemates Bradley Cooper and Rupert Murdoch schmoozing.

Mark Zuckerberg has quite the appetite!
The Facebook founder took to Threads — his latest social media platform — where he replied to a post from McDonald’s asking if their followers wanted anything from the famous fast-food chain.
“20 nuggets, a quarter pounder, large fries, Oreo McFlurry, apple pie, and maybe some side cheeseburgers for later?” Zuckerberg replied, giving followers a look at his huge Mickey D’s order.
Mma fighter, Mike Davis jokingly chastised Zuckerberg’s order, reminding the tech CEO that he’s currently in training for his reported fight with Elon Musk.
“You’re in camp! No Mcdonalds ,” Davis wrote.
“Not cutting weight so I need ~4000 calories a day to offset all the activity,” Zuckerberg replied, revealing his massive 4,000 calorie-a-day diet. “And it’s so delicious…”
Zuckerberg’s McDonald’s confession comes just weeks after he showed off his fit physique.

Jonah Hill is a dad! The 39-year-old actor and Olivia Millar, whom he was first linked to last summer, welcomed their first child, his rep confirmed to People. Et has reached out for comment.
Hill and Millar never announced their baby on the way, but reports to that effect surfaced in March when Daily Mail published pics of Millar with what appeared to be a baby bump.
Millar, the daughter of famed model Esmé Marshall, also sparked engagement rumours at the time, but neither Hill nor Millar has confirmed as much.
Before his relationship with Millar, who owns an online clothing store, Hill was engaged to Gianna Santos. The pair called it quits in 2020 after two years together.
Hill, who largely keeps his personal life private, was next romantically linked to environmental activist Sarah Brady, though he denied that they were engaged in February 2022.

Facebook CEO and co-founder Mark Zuckerberg sang his same old tunes on CBS This Morning today, answering co-host Gayle King’s questions about political ads and anti-trust issues with seemingly well-rehearsed bromides about free speech and the value of “bringing people together.”
Zuckerberg has repeatedly refused to hold Facebook political ads to a standard of truth, despite 200 of his own employees urging him to reconsider the policy, noting “free speech and paid speech are not the same.”
“Well, this is clearly a very complex issue,” Zuckerberg said (watch the video above), “and a lot of people have a lot of different opinions. At the end of the day, I just think that in a democracy, people should be able to see for themselves what politicians are saying.”
At another point in the interview, Zuckerberg reiterated his opinion that Facebook shouldn’t be in the business of fact-checking ads.

CBS News is considering making significant changes to its flagship “CBS Evening News,” according to four people with knowledge of the talks, part of a top-down look at the news division by incoming president Susan Zirinsky.
Executives are considering putting “CBS This Morning” anchor Norah O’Donnell in the lead role of its evening-news broadcast, these people said, as well as moving the broadcast to Washington, D.C. instead of its longtime roost in New York City. CBS News declined to make executives available for comment. These plans are not definitive, these people cautioned, and there is no guarantee they will come to fruition. Sun Valley, Idaho — The first full day of conference sessions at Allen & Co.’s annual retreat included an informational session on cryptocurrencies, blockchain and other little-understood developments in the world of virtual money.
Court CBS Corp. chairman-ceo Leslie Moonves among those who got an education from the presentation. “I understand it a little better now,” Moonves said.
The morning sessions also included a panel with Iac chief Barry Diller, Bloomberg News founder Michael Bloomberg, and Activision Blizzard’s Bobby Kotick talking about how they build their businesses. Sources said there was a little friendly sparring among the trio about various business strategies that are en vogue these days, including the push for “scale” in all things.
Another highlight was a presentation from Chilean president Sebastian Pinera. The leader of one of South America’s most prosperous nation made a strong case for investment in Latin America and stressed that the region has untapped potential.

Zuckerberg and wife Priscilla Chan have hired Democratic pollster Joel Benenson, a former top adviser and longtime pollster to President Barack Obama and the chief strategist of Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign, as a consultant, Politico reported, citing a person familiar with the hire.
