New Delhi, Jan 15 (Ians) Diego Maradona's death on November 2, 2020 was followed by a flood of tributes from around the world and all walks of life. His death had been attributed to a heart attack but it wasn't this alone that caused arguably the greatest footballer of all time to die at the age of 60.
It is this point that the Discovery Plus documentary "What Killed Maradona?" tries to put across. It features interviews with writers and journalists who have followed Maradona's life along with his former fitness trainer Fernando Signorini and his former Napoli team mate and captain Giuseppe Bruscolotti. It also features interviews with health experts and psychologists who give a perspective on the kind of toll the rough nature of the sport in the era that Maradona was playing in, the rudimentary manner in which he was medicated for his injuries and his addiction...

Asif Kapadia's documentary on Diego Maradona, portrays the "God of football" -? the titular superstar Argentinian footballer -- with feet of clay. Yes, the film shows him as a rebel, a cheat, a hero who was revered as God, and moreover as a man imperfect and raw..
The film begins in a chaotic and unimpressive manner, with a montage encapsulating the star footballer. The pastiche then zeroes in on July 5 1984 in Naples, where Diego Armando Maradona was presented to the world media as a player for Ssc Napoli.
The stadium San Paolo, bursting with over 75,000 fans, and the controversial signing amount of a world record fee -- 6.9 million pounds -- by an underwhelming club puts the focus on the unassuming Diego Maradona.
The film encapsulates Maradona's life from his childhood till his recent years, but mostly focuses on his tenure in Naples. The primetime of his career is shown,...

Diego Maradona is still alive. That’s the big difference between the subject of Asif Kapadia’s latest documentary compared to his films “Amy” and “Senna.”
With those movies, Kapadia dared himself to tell their stories entirely through archival material and with no contemporary talking heads, knowing he wouldn’t have access to his subjects. “Diego Maradona” is constructed in the same way, but Kapadia actually met the legendary soccer star, interviewed him and included his voice in the film.
Incredibly, even though he had access to one of the most famous athletes on the planet, Kapadia stuck to his guns and held back from ever showing new footage of Maradona’s face as he is today. TheWrap spoke with Kapadia about whether he was tempted to break that golden rule.
