With the studio set to introduce Marvel’s first family Fantastic Four in the MCU, fans are revisiting the previous adaptations of the superhero team, including Josh Trank’s 2015 reboot boasting a stellar cast including Miles Teller, Michael B. Jordan, Kate Mara, Jamie Bell. There is no denying that the film has not been the best the superhero genre has to offer and fans have now noted one glaring flaw that further compounds its shortcomings.

The superhero team has always been defined as Marvel’s first family. However, the 2015 reboot film doesn’t seem too keen to follow the concept as two of the leading characters Susan Storm and The Thing hardly have a conversation in the movie.

Bowen Yang, a familiar face on Saturday Night Live since 2019, has showcased his comedic talents through a variety of characters, from impersonating figures like George Santos and Truman Capote to crafting original personas. He even explored the dynamics of a “Straight Male Friend” in a 2023 sketch with Travis Kelce. But on March 2nd, Yang took a surprising turn, portraying a heterosexual version of himself in the SNL short, Bowen’s Straight.
Bowen Yang and Sydney Sweeney on SNL
The sketch revolves around Sydney Sweeney, who develops a crush on Yang, only to discover a shocking truth: he’s secretly straight. The Original Avengers assembled to fight Loki’s invasion of New York and became the most iconic team of the MCU. The team was balanced, had some precedent in the comics, and served as the premiere IP for the franchise for at least a decade. However, the team found itself disassembled in the wake of Avengers: Endgame, with only three members still active, but not united.
Black Widow, Thor, Captain America, Hawkeye, Iron Man, and Hulk in The Avengers (2012)
Essentially speaking, since Avengers: Endgame, there has been no concrete team of heroes to carry the mantle of the group. While a host of heroes have been introduced in films and streaming series, none of them have united as a team, leaving the fate of a major part of the franchise up in the air. DC and Marvel have given the world some of the greatest characters in pop culture: Spider-Man, Batman, Superman, and D-Man. So if the two companies were to put their heads together and come up with a character that they could share, that character would be the greatest comic creation of all time, right?

"X-Men '97" is bringing the marvelous mutant heroes back to the small screen like they never left it, picking up right after the original series finale, "Graduation Day." Since that aired, the show's '90s setting has gone from contemporary to period piece.
The long-awaited trailer for "X-Men '97" debuted on February 15, 2024, and there's plenty to discuss even with less than 2 minutes of footage. For one, we've now finally seen the series' animation style, which brings modern shading and three-dimensionality to the original's classic cartoon look.
Much of the original voice cast is back (even if they only get a line each to show it), while Ray Chase and Matthew Waterson sound uncanny as Cyclops and Magneto. I'll admit I've been skeptical of "X-Men '97" before now — I've never been a huge fan of the original (the production values were quite low and often off-putting). Plus, the X-Men's world is so vast,...

Halle Berry was once synonymous with the mutant superhero Storm after her stint in Fox’s X-Men franchise. However, there was some criticism regarding Berry’s portrayal of the character. The actor once uttered a line in the film X-Men that became heavily mocked at the time. But The Avengers director Joss Whedon once set the record straight on the line’s true origins.

Zack Snyder is currently one of the most prominent directors in Hollywood, receiving both praise and criticism. While he has showcased his skills in directing a specific type of film, his work has also encountered criticism, and the reasons behind it are evident. He did not have anything to do with 2016’s Suicide Squad, but Snyder’s involvement in the Dceu certainly did no favors to the movie.

In fact, fans might not be shocked to know that 2016’s Suicide Squad took the Letterboxed top spot as the worst Oscar-winning film of all time, which is a very shameful achievement, to say the least. X-Men has been one of the fan-favorite stories when it comes to the superhero universe. The one thing that sets these characters apart from the rest of the superheroes is the fact that they have always been the epitome of inclusivity, albeit in a more fictional sense. Marvel’s X-Men have long served as a powerful metaphor for marginalized people. They are mutants, excluded from society—it is an allegory for people of all ages, obvious enough for children to understand. Well, this discussion began with a recent trailer for Beau DeMayo’s highly anticipated animated series, X-Men ‘97, which will premiere on Disney+ next month.
The new series’ 1997 setting picks up where X-Men: The Animated Series (1992–1997) left off. In the trailer, we see cult favorites like Wolverine, Storm, and Cyclops kicking ‘90s butt and sporting stunning ‘90s outfits.
This time around, the shape-shifting hero Morph will be portrayed as nonbinary, according to an interesting update. This bold move, however, has stirred up controversy and exposed a segment of fans who seem to have misunderstood the very essence of mutants.

Professor Charles Xavier died in the 1997 series finale of “X-Men: The Animated Series.” As Jean Grey observed at the time, “Fate lies in our hands now.”
As fate would have it, Disney+ has revived the iconic Saturday morning cartoon — and its classic animation style — as a new series for 2024. The 10-episode “X-Men ’97” premieres March 20 on the streamer, and on Thursday, February 15, Disney+ treated us to the trailer.
Other than the addition of some new voice actors, not much has changed since the mid-90s. (The original “X-Men” ran from 1992-1997; “X-Men ’97” picks up shortly after the O.G. finale’s events.) The gang still travels in style via the X-Jet, Aka The Blackbird. Cyclops (now voiced by Ray Chase; he was previously voiced by Norm Spencer) is the mutant-team’s leader, and Wolverine (still Cal Dodd) is still getting under his skin. The torch from Professor X...

Marvel announced the reboot of the 1992 X-Men: The Animated Series, titled X-Men ’97, back in November 2021. The studio has finally revealed a release date for their second Disney+ animated series after What If…?. It almost feels like Marvel has managed to gain back their fans’ faith with the trailer for Deadpool and Wolverine and the current X-Men ’97 update. The studio was plagued by several disastrous projects, which failed to impress even hardcore Marvel fans.

It’s Saturday morning. You slept in just a tad, but you still get up early because the new episode of X-Men will be airing on Fox Kids. You get your bowl of cereal ready, turn on your tube television and hear that static as the screen fades in. Then, you hear that iconic theme song. Nostalgia is a hot commodity nowadays, but with animation, the team behind X-Men ’97 has the advantage of emulating the classic look of the original 90s cartoon. This was demonstrated by the viral video of a segment of Star Trek: The Next Generation being made into a cartoon in the style of the original Star Trek animated series. Disney has just released the trailer for X-Men ’97 and they hit you hard and fast with the nostalgia. The beginning of the trailer and teaser poster convey images of a child’s room in the...

Grab your boombox and meet me at the skatepark, because we're throwing it back to the '90s, folks! Despite all the warm and fuzzy feelings that that decade inspires in Millennials like me, it wasn't exactly a golden age for superhero media ... on the big screen, that is. For comic fans and loyal viewers of Saturday morning cartoons, well, animated shows were simply the place to be. We had "Batman: The Animated Series" and "Spider-Man" at our fingertips, but we're here to talk about one beloved series over all the rest: "X-Men: The Animated Series." The pop-cultural legacy of this show simply can't be overstated, acting as a gateway to comic books for an entire generation of young fans.
Now, over three decades later, Marvel is returning to the small screen with a Disney+ revival titled "X-Men '97." The project was first revealed back on Disney+ Day in 2021, but...

According to the announcement, Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon-Moss Bachrach will make up Marvel’s first family as Reed Richards aka Mr Fantastic, Sue Storm aka Invisible Woman, Johnny Storm aka Human Torch, and Ben Grimm aka The Thing.

Robbie’s potential involvement in the MCU caused quite a bit of worry among DC fans who feared that she would part ways with her memorable character Harley Quinn forever. Deadpool & Wolverine released its teaser, and it confirmed the appearance of Aaron Stanford’s Pyro, who played the character back in the original X-Men trilogy that was produced by Fox Studios. Along with this, it has also been confirmed that Jennifer Garner will be appearing in her role as Elektra from Fox’s Daredevil film, returning for the first time since her solo venture in the role.

The film is also set to star Wolverine (and allegedly multiple variants of the character). With such a stacked cast, and so many cameos on the horizon, it makes sense that the film would include other key cameos, given that it would be integrating mutants into the MCU, while also bringing in the characters from Fox Studios’ Marvel roster. Here are 5 other cameos that fans can expect from Marvel’s latest mutant movie.

Snikt! Cue up that incredibly nostalgic synth theme tune, and break out the yellow spandex – the X-Men are back in animated form for long-awaited cartoon sequel series X-Men ’97. This one is a direct follow-up to the beloved X-Men: The Animated Series that ran between 1992 and 1997, but it comes from the minds at Marvel Studios, continuing Kevin Feige’s slow and steady journey to bring the mutants into the MCU fold. The first trailer has now arrived, promising a colourful blast of superhero action – and some narrative weight, with our favourite characters reeling from the death of Professor X in the original series’ finale. Check it out here:
Grab a massive bowl of sugary breakfast cereal, because this looks like a big old blast of Saturday morning cartoon fun – and Marvel is really embracing that nostalgia, with the live-action intro for the trailer recalling the days of square TVs, (now-)vintage action figures,...

For the first time in over 10 years, a new animated “X-Men” show has arrived.
The first trailer for Disney+’s “X-Men ’97” is here, and it continues the story from the classic ’90s cartoon, “X-Men: The Animated Series.” It begins streaming on Disney+ on March 20.
The beloved “X-Men: The Animated Series” ran from 1992-1997 for five seasons. “X-Men ’97” functions as essentially a sixth season for the show, picking up after the 1997 series finale, “Graduation Day,” in which Prof. Charles Xavier dies. The new trailer shows X-Men members Cyclops, Wolverine, Morph, Rogue, Beast, Gambit, Jubilee, Bishop and more pick up the pieces after Prof. X perishes.
“We have to say vigilant, the professor entrusted us with his dream,” Cyclops says to his team, as footage shows anti-mutant protests in the streets and a casket containing Prof. X lowered into the ground. The team battles giant Sentinel robots, and the final...

Marvel's first family has swooped in unexpectedly to wish the masses a happy Valentine's Day as part of Marvel Studios' official cast announcement for what is now being called "The Fantastic Four." As you can see from the first-look artwork, all your faves are present and accounted for. There's Reed Richards, the stretch-tastic Mister Fantastic himself (Pedro Pascal); his partner in science, life, and superheroing, Sue "The Invisible Woman" Storm (Vanessa Kirby); Sue's quite literally hot-headed younger brother Johnny (Joseph Quinn), aka The Human Torch; their gruff, street-wise pal Ben Grimm/The Thing (Ebon Moss-Bachrach); and, of course, there's H.E.R.B.I.E., can't forget about him!
Wait, who?
Yes, if you found yourself wondering who the Johnny 5-like 'bot holding a cup on the "Fantastic Four" poster was, you're indubitably not alone. Humanoid Experimental Robot, B-type, Integrated Electronics or H.E.R.B.I.E. was...

Minutes after the first trailer for his superhero pic Deadpool & Wolverine dropped during the Super Bowl, Ryan Reynolds tweeted about popcorn, of all things. “Wait til you see the Deadpool popcorn bucket,” he wrote. An eternal jester, he no doubt was responding to the social media frenzy over a new Dune in-theater sandworm popcorn container that’s being riffed for looking like a sex toy (it even was the subject of a Saturday Night Live skit).
But Reynolds also sees dollar signs for struggling theater owners. With little fanfare, elaborate popcorn containers — known as “vessels” in industry speak — have become a lucrative side business for cinemas, third-party vendors and Hollywood studios, the latter of which receives licensing fees.
Sandworms apparently have an appetite for popcorn, judging by the vessel ($24.99 from AMC) that caused a spicy social media response and is supporting both the current reissue of Dune (2021) and the sequel’s March 1 release.

There comes a moment in many sports documentaries when viewers find themselves wondering whether they’ve drunk the Gatorade. All the fast cuts and swelling music, the bodily injuries and emotional agony, the triumphant moments and podium tears have a way of pushing our buttons.
In director Sarah Dowland’s “Sue Bird: In the Clutch,” that objectivity-questioning pause comes when the WNBA legend’s agent appears for an on-camera interview (she happens to be one of its executive producers as well). No arguing that agent Lindsay Kagawa Colas knows a great deal about Bird and even more about the changes in marketing strategies that women athletes have faced over the years. She also knows that optics matter, and it’s hard not to be a little frustrated that such an obviously biased cheerleader should appear as a source. (Another red flag: NBA Entertainment had a role in producing the doc.

In a year of reduced Marvel output, there are still a lot of interesting comic book adaptations emerging in 2024 from both Sony and Marvel Studios. Way back in 2000, audiences watching X-Men gave a knowing chuckle when a leather-clad Cyclops asked Wolverine, “What would you prefer, yellow spandex?” At the time, even those of us who love the Canucklehead’s traditional duds understood the point. In a world where Superman’s blue and red suit disappeared from screens in 1987 and only Batman’s nipple-y but dark suits remained, the lavish X-Men costumes of the comics wouldn’t fly with general audiences.
For all the successes across the 13 films in the Fox X-Men franchise, concessions to a general audience not inundated with superheroes meant that the studio felt the need to cut some corners. Some of the revisions worked, especially the tall, handsome Aussie Hugh Jackman’s more romantic take on the short, ugly Canadian Wolverine. Others, however, left much to be desired.

Jenny Han’s production banner Jenny Kissed Me has promoted “The Summer I Turned Pretty” associate producer Victoria Storm to vice president of television and films.
In the role, Storm will oversee film and television development for the production company, which is currently under an overall deal with Amazon Studios.
“Victoria has been by my side since the beginning of Jenny Kissed Me, and I’m beyond lucky to have worked with her for so many years,” said Han. “She is smart, well-read, and has impeccable taste. I’m so excited for what the future holds for Victoria and Jenny Kissed Me.”
Prior to becoming an associate producer on Han’s Amazon series and Netflix’s “Xo, Kitty,” she began working with the author in 2019 as an assistant. She later joined “The Summer I Turned Pretty” as a showrunner’s assistant. Storm became the company’s first employee when she...

Bryan Singer's "X2: X-Men United" may remain, even at this late date, one of the better superhero films out there. In "X2," Halle Berry reprised her role as Ororo Munroe, better known by her superheroine name Storm. She can control the weather with her mind, perhaps making her the most powerful being on Earth, even if the movies don't posit her as such. In "X2," Storm spends a good deal of time tracking down and befriending a mysterious teleporting blue-skinned mutant named Kurt (Alan Cumming), also known as Nightcrawler. The two characters bond and they have a few intimate moments together.
This was an improvement for Storm over the 2000 "X-Men" film, wherein she ... didn't do much. Storm was a supporting character in "X-Men" who only used her superpowers a few times. Berry was fine, but was given very little to work with. Storm, despite being one of the more...
