Netflix are busy planning their slate of projects for the next few years, and we might just be getting some more Peaky Blinders. More here:
Netflix are reportedly working on a bunch of new spin-offs and prequels. Bloomberg’s newsletter describes the streamer as having entered their “franchise era” as they look to produce more and more prequels, spin-offs and sequels.
The streamer is looking to do an Extraction TV show as well as a Wednesday spin-off, which could very well focus on Uncle Fester. Both Wednesday and Extraction and its sequel have been huge hits for the streaming service, which has also expanded to the West End with a Stranger Things show now playing at the Phoenix Theatre.
What’s curious though is that Bloomberg reports that Netflix are also considering a couple of Peaky Blinders spin-offs. One that could be set in 20th century Boston and another focusing on Polly,...

Locked In Movie Review Rating:
Star Cast: Famke Janssen, Rose Williams, Alex Hassell, Finn Cole, Anna Friel
Director: Nour Wazzi
Locked In Movie Review ( Photo Credit – IMDb )
What’s Good: The film’s initial allure is undeniably captivating, immersing audiences in a gothic melodrama enriched by Nour Wazzi’s direction and the opulent setting. The clever twist of Katherine’s locked-in syndrome adds a unique layer to the mystery, initially promising an engaging plot.
What’s Bad: As the story progresses, “Locked In” disappoints with a lackluster execution of its promising elements. The detective game loses its charm, giving way to a predictably stretched conclusion. Famke Janssen’s performance, though promising, falls short under Rowan Joffe’s direction. The film’s reliance on a frustrating trope and a limited cast further hampers its impact.
Loo Break: Feel free to take a break during the prolonged flashbacks and contemplative scenes. You...

Not to sound like a stereotype, but I don't particularly get along with my mother-in-law. But the situation in the latest Netflix thriller, "Locked Up," is a great reminder that things could always be much, much worse. Despite little fanfare upon release and next to no promotion tied to it, "Locked In" has been consistently holding it down on the streamer's Top 10 list since it arrived on November 1. If you've not heard of the film, here's the official synopsis:
Katherine, a former Hollywood actor, wakes up in the hospital unable to move. She's been hit by a car and suffers from locked-in syndrome — her eyes are the only thing she's able to move. Through her nurse, Nicky, we find out what's led to Katherine's hospitalization. Katherine, communicating with her via letter board, blinks when Nicky reads the correct letter: She claims there's been a murder. Through flashbacks, we see snapshots...

Is a "Peaky Blinders" movie coming? Probably. Is Cillian Murphy the best source for "Peaky Blinders" movie updates? Maybe not. In an interview with Radio Times ahead of the release of "Oppenheimer," Murphy hinted that he is not a huge fan of being treated like a Google search page when it comes to the future of the franchise. "That's probably the worst thing about 'Peaky Blinders' -- getting asked about the movie all the time!" the actor told the outlet with a laugh.
This shouldn't be surprising: It's Steven Knight, not Murphy, who made "Peaky Blinders" in the first place and who plans to cap its six seasons off with a movie. The series creator revealed plans for a feature film ending to the series -- which would also serve as a beginning for a spin-off -- before the sixth season had even aired, meaning fans who would have otherwise...

Up until its recently-completed final season, each and every installment of "Peaky Blinders" has featured a big name actor in the role of the main antagonist. While Finn Cole's Michael Gray took the centerstage in season 6, throwing the Shelby family into turmoil as he finally came to blows with his estranged cousin Tommy (Cillian Murphy) in an epic power struggle, prior seasons carefully built up each standalone threat as a new headache for Tommy and his gang of Peaky Blinders to deal with. From Sam Neill's odious Inspector Chester Campbell to Adrien Brody's Luca Changretta, the Shelbys eventually managed to take care of every major obstacle in their path -- all except for one.
Sam Claflin's Sir Oswald Mosley, based on the real-life historical figure who whipped pre-wwii Britain into a fascist frenzy, has posed the most significant challenge to Tommy's grand plans. Brought together out of mutual benefit,...

It might be easy to think that "Peaky Blinders" is a rip-roaring gangster story, exploring the rise (and likely fall) of Cillian Murphy's Tommy Shelby as leader of the most fearsome collection of petty thieves and bloodthirsty criminals in early 1900s Birmingham. It certainly is that, to be sure, but that description doesn't quite manage to do justice to the collection of fascinating characters caught up in the wake of Tommy's ceaseless ambitions to grow his organization from the mud-soaked grime of horse racing to the upper echelons of political influence in Parliament. No, it'd probably be more accurate to call this popular (and recently concluded) show a family drama.
None know that better than Sophie Rundle, who has portrayed Tommy's sister Ada Thorne since the inaugural season. Initially wanting nothing to do with her brother's illegal activities or even the family name itself, Ada has since grown into...

"Peaky Blinders" is a family affair — in more ways than one — but this particular crime family has a definite head, and that is Tommy Shelby (Cillian Murphy). Over the course of six seasons, "Peaky Blinders" juggled the comings and goings of many an ensemble cast member, including Joe Cole and his real-life brother Finn Cole, who played Johnny Shelby and his cousin Michael Gray. Before "Peaky Blinders" built to its thrilling climax in the final season, pitting Cillian Murphy's Tommy Shelby against his own flesh and blood Michael Gray (Finn Cole) in a power grab for the ages, the popular BBC series largely featured one primary antagonist per season -- often portrayed by established character actors or even big-name stars. Early seasons saw the street gang come up against the relentless Inspector Campbell. Soon followed Noah Taylor as mobster Darby Sabini, Paddy Considine's loathsome priest Father Hughes, Sam Claflin as fascist Oswald Mosley, and even Tom Hardy as sometimes-enemy, sometimes-ally, Alfie Solomons across the entire show's run.
"Peaky Blinders" took a turn, however, once Adrien Brody turned up in all his stereotypically New York/Italian glory as the formidable Luca Changretta in season 4. Vowing revenge on Tommy Shelby and his entire family for the brutal killing of his father, the mobster ended...

"Peaky Blinders" is part of a continuum of gangster movies and TV shows that dates back to the early 1930s when actors like James Cagney and Edward G. Robinson were making black-and-white films such as "The Public Enemy" and "Little Caesar." Even on television, "Peaky Blinders" was predated by prestige dramas like "The Sopranos" and "Boardwalk Empire," but one thing that set it apart from the bulk of its predecessors was its focus on a street gang in Birmingham, England, as opposed to the Italian mafia in America.

However, J (Finn Cole) had plans of his own, as he sought to get revenge on family matriarch Janine “Smurf” Cody. What followed was an episode of double-crosses, violent showdowns, and, yes, plenty of murder. The violence started when J turned on his uncles Deran (Jake Weary) and Craig (Ben Robson), abandoning them while in the middle of a shootout with the cops following the prison break-out. Later, Craig and Deran held up a convenience store for some cash and a first-aid kit. But the store owner’s ...

Warning: Spoilers for the final season of "Peaky Blinders" will follow.
From long-lost relative and apple of Aunt Polly's (Helen McCrory) eye to sworn enemy of Tommy Shelby (Cillian Murphy) on a relentless quest for vengeance, Finn Cole's Michael Gray was never quite the main villain of the final season of "Peaky Blinders" — that honor would undoubtedly go to Sam Claflin's fascist Sir Oswald Mosley — but he certainly posed the most immediate and personal threat to our Ptsd-ridden main "hero."
Since his first appearance back in season 2, Michael's rise within the ranks of the Peaky Blinders has been swift, though not without its bumps along...

Despite “Peaky Blinders” being centered on a gang in the 1900s with razor blades sewed into their caps, it’s the women – both on and off the screen – who are the sharpest of the bunch. Leading the pack is executive producer Caryn Mandabach, whose company Caryn Mandabach Productions owns and operates the Peaky Blinders IP. “I’m the studio, as we would say in America…. Pretend I’m Sony” she told WrapWomen during a recent Zoom interview.
But being the boss is a double-edged razor. On one end, Mandabach gets to oversee exciting projects like partnering with Bushmills Irish Whiskey on a special Peaky Blinders recipe. On the other, Mandabach must always keep her business cap on – no matter how tough the situation.
On April 16, 2021, during the production of Season 6, “Peaky Blinders” star Helen McCrory, who played Aunt Polly, passed away after privately battling cancer. Her tragic death presented Mandabach...

If the spoiler-filled trailer that TNT released Thursday for the sixth and final season of Animal Kingdom is any indication, the crime drama will be going out with a bang. A whole lotta bangs, as a matter of fact.
In the action-packed clip, which you can watch in full above, we learn that not only is Denis Leary back as Deran’s ne’er-do-well father Billy, but against all odds, so is Grey’s Anatomy’s Scott Speedman as the late Baz (presumably in a newly created flashback). We also get a hint of the panic that ensues when Craig and...

It's the end of an era for fans of TNT's super hot crime family.
Animal Kingdom roars for its last time when the sixth and final season airs on June 19.
We've previously shared the thrilling final trailer, and now TNT has released its official key art for the series' last hurrah.
Key art notoriously gives us clues as to what we can anticipate in the upcoming season, and this badass photo feels quite revealing.
Whether it's speculation based on the source material or because the laws of the jungle would demand that the Cody boys' dangerous lifestyle would catch up to them, it's easy to assume that not everyone will make it out of the series alive.
Animal Kingdom already shocked the fandom when they killed off matriarch Smurf in Animal Kingdom Season 4.
They've proven that not a single soul is safe, and the final season will likely pull out all the stops,...

Animal Kingdom is poised to throw its last punch. TNT announced on Wednesday that the crime-family drama’s sixth and final season will kick off on Sunday, June 19.
Along with the premiere date, the cable network dropped a trailer that was, as you’d hope and expect from the show, fairly brutal. Shots are fired and blows taken as the Codys decide to tackle a 5M job that’ll allow them to start fresh. In other words, as Craig puts it, “it’s showtime.”

Spoiler Alert: This post contains details about the series finale of Peaky Blinders…: Before it debuts on Netflix on June 10 in the U.S. and other markets, period gangster epic Peaky Blinders‘ sixth and final season concluded with a feature-length episode on BBC One in the UK tonight. Created by Steven Knight, who cautioned me before the finale to “expect the unexpected,” Peaky went out in top and twisty form with operatic and Godfather-esque flourishes. Since debuting in 2013, and gaining a rabid global fanbase, the Shelby family is meeting its end as a TV series, however, Knight has confirmed that a movie is going to happen — and given how the finale played out, there is still much to explore.
So, how did this iteration wrap things up for Tommy Shelby (Cillian Murphy) and the rest of the Birmingham crew? Throughout this season, we’ve been reminded of the words...
