8 Bit Weapon is an electronic-music group from Ventura County, California, USA. It was founded around 1998 by Seth Sternberger, who pioneered the chiptune music and is the primary songwriter. In October 2006, Michelle Sternberger (aka ComputeHer) joined the group and is also a music co-writer. They use vintage computers, classic consoles and lo-tech synthesizers as instruments to create unique music inspired by video-game soundtracks and electronic music from the 1970s and 1980s. The energetic beats and fun retro aesthetic maintains a nostalgic atmosphere while delivering modern sound.
8 Bit Weapon received personal recognitions from Steve Wozniak, Richard Garriott, Hirokazu Tanaka, Martin Galway, Ben Daglish, David Warhol, Jeroen Tel. The group co-worked with Kraftwerk, Erasure, Machinae Supremacy, Information Society, I Fight Dragons, Freezepop, and others.
