Captain America: Brave New World is less than a year away from hitting theaters and, if we're really lucky, a trailer might be attached to Deadpool & Wolverine later this summer.
In the meantime, a new still from the movie has started doing the rounds on social media - seemingly from Empire - which features Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie), director Julius Onah, and Xosha Roquemore's mystery character.
Cap is suited up and appears to be in a war room. As for Roquemore, it's previously been reported that she's playing Leila Taylor. Introduced in 1971 and created by Stan Lee and John Romita Sr., she was Sam Wilson's girlfriend but faded into obscurity in the early 2000s.
On the page, Leila was a journalist who fought for equal rights and eventually worked for The Daily Bugle. This version looks like she might work for the CIA or be a Secret Service agent,...

Avengers: Endgame ended with Steve Rogers passing the Captain America mantle to Sam Wilson. Two years later in 2021, we caught up with the hero in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, learning he'd declined Steve's offer (meaning John Walker took his place).
By the time the finale rolled around, Sam had decided to wield the shield and did so in style. Four years after that series hit Disney+, we'll next see the former Falcon take centre stage in Captain America: Brave New World.
After Happy Meal toys, leaked promo art, and more, we finally have an official look at Sam suited up courtesy of Empire Online. The suit looks good here, but many fans have already argued that it's a step back from what we wore in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier.

Captain America: Brave New World was originally set to be released today, May 3, 2024. Instead, Star Wars: The Phantom Menace is being re-released in theaters to celebrate its 25th anniversary, an outcome we know many of you will be disappointed by.
While Marvel Studios has managed to push back many of the movie's promotional tie-ins, it seems nothing can stop McDonald's. As a result, Captain America: Brave New World Happy Meal toys are now out in the wild.
That's meant heaps of promo art finding its way online and, today, we can follow that up with a very intriguing rumour.
According to scooper @MyTimeToShineH, the movie will indeed feature the introduction of Adamantium, the virtually indestructible metal substance best known for coasting Wolverine's bones (a result of Weapon X's experiments on the mutant hero).
We've previously heard that the remains of the frozen Celestial Tiamut will be the source...

Captain America: Brave New World is nine months away from swooping into theaters, but more promo art has surfaced today which reveals that Sam Wilson will don a helmet in the movie.
Given how perfect Sam's Captain America suit in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier was, there's already been some disappointment among fans that the hero is now basically wearing his Falcon goggles with Steve Rogers' old suit.
This headgear is another big departure and doesn't look that different from Ant-Man's helmet. However, we see a breathing tube which suggests Sam will wear this during a high-altitude battle of some sort.
There's also a nod to Captain America's "A" on the helmet, though it's relatively subtle.
Marvel Studios runs the risk of this feeling like The Falcon wearing Captain America's suit, and the pressure is on to deliver here with Captain America: Brave New World having to follow in...

We've had a pretty good idea that Captain America: Brave New World would feature the MCU debut of Red Hulk for a while now, but we recently got confirmation thanks to some McDonald's Happy Meal Toys!
Not an ideal way to get a first look at the rampaging red monster, but the plush toys weren't exactly detailed. Now, thanks to some new promo art, we finally have a proper look at the character design.
The artwork isn't the clearest, but it still gives us a pretty good idea of what to expect from Brave New World's take on the transformed General President Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross (Harrison Ford). And no, it doesn't look like he's going to grow the 'stache back when he changes!

Thanks to last year's strikes, Captain America: Brave New World is one of many 2024 movies now not heading our way until next year.
A few pieces of merchandise have started showing up here and there, though most of it will have been pushed back to coincide with The Falcon and The Winter Soldier sequel's new release date.
Still, it seems nothing will mess up McDonald's Happy Meal schedule as Captain America: Brave New World toys are starting to show up in restaurants across the U.S. As well as a closer look at Red Hulk, we see Diamondback sporting a comic-accurate costume and using the same diamond tips as the version seen on the page.
With rumours swirling that the Serpent Society has been cut from the movie, this may be all we see of her.
The bigger reveal below is new promo art of Anthony Mackie's Sam Wilson suited up as Captain America.

We know that ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ was stuck in a development hell for quite some time. The movie was supposed to be released this year but after early test screenings proved to have overwhelmingly negative feedback, the flick was scheduled for a massive round of reshoots.
This delayed it for close to a year, now it’s set to be released on February 15, 2025. The latest footage from CinemaCon showcased some plot points. The clip reveals Sam Wilson meeting President Thunderbolt Ross at the White House, where Ross proposes reuniting the Avengers under a new Captain America. However, there are hints of Ross having ulterior motives. Chaos erupts during a meeting when a mysterious villain takes control, leading to action-packed scenes including Sam defending himself against Secret Service agents. It looks like there is more bad news in store for Marvel fans and fans of Captain America. After extensive reshoots and cutting away major scenes, Captain America: Brave New World still seems to have issues. The Anthony Mackie and Harrison Ford starrer has been in the making since 2022 and will be released on February 10, 2025.
The film is set to build on the events of the Disney Plus series Falcon and the Winter Soldier, with Mackie’s Sam Wilson taking over the mantle of Captain America. The film recently debuted some footage at CinemaCon which showed Ford’s Thaddeus Ross as well. However, industry insider Jeff Sneider mentioned that all was not good in the movie.

Fanboys will have to wait until San Diego Comic Con to see footage from Marvel Studios’ 2025 release Captain America: Brave New World, but exhibitors do not. On Thursday during Disney’s closing CinemaCon session, the studio showed off the new Anthony Mackie movie that picks up after the events of the 2021 Disney+ series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. In that series, Sam Wilson takes over the shield left behind by the late Steve Rogers (Chris Evans).
Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige called the film “a grounded politically thriller” onstage of Caesars Palace at the Colosseum before introducing Mackie.
Mackie shared how he started in these movies 10 years ago, and loved how he’s now “starring in my own Marvel movie.” Mackie didn’t delay and introduced the footage.
In the clip, Harrison Ford’s Potus wants Sam Wilson to rebuild the Avengers. He’s impressed what the hero did down in Mexico.

‘Captain America: Brave New World’ is highly anticipated in the MCU lineup. Like many other films and shows, its development was affected by the SAG-AFTRA strike, but it’s back on track now.
There was an expectation of some delay, especially after ‘Captain America 4’ switched release dates with ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’. Now, it’s set to release on February 15, 2025, after nearly a year’s delay. However, it was later revealed that significant reshoots and rewrites were necessary due to poor initial test screening results.
Now, the Atlanta_filming Instagram account, known for sharing paparazzi and leaked content, has posted a picture of a baseball cap featuring the number 4. The caption reads: “This starts May 26th. Don’t ask… just think about it.”

‘Captain America: Brave New World’ is one of the most anticipated MCU projects. Like plenty of other movies & shows, the development was put back on track following the conclusion of the SAG-AFTRA strike. Everybody expected that the movie would be at least somewhat delayed. Initially ‘Captain America 4’ switched dates with ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ until being delayed for almost a year, now bound to be released on February 15, 2025.
It was only later that we’ve found out that the movie was undergoing significant reshoots and rewrites due to the bad results the initial test screening got from the audiences.

Several MCU projects got back on track after the SAG-AFTRA strike ended. “Deadpool & Wolverine” and Ssu’s “Venom: The Last Dance” completed reshoots and are set to release this year. “Deadpool & Wolverine” even has a trailer out already. However, “Captain America: Brave New World” faced significant setbacks. It was delayed for a year and needed extensive reshoots and rewrites due to disappointing test screenings.
Reportedly, the story underwent major changes. One minor villain group, the Serpent Society, was completely removed from the film. Initial reports suggested the movie had problems with action scenes not meeting the standards set by previous “Captain America” films. However, insider Oh How I Marvel At Those Marvels provided more details. They mentioned issues with the action, chemistry between the leads, and the movie’s political messages.

Among the upcoming slate of MCU projects, ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ stands out as the most concerning with its challenging development journey. With the breathing room given by its delay to 2025, the next Captain America film is going through a few changes before it arrives in cinemas.
Marvel Studios are looking to have an interesting 2024.
With just one film coming out of the studio for the first time since 2010 (when Iron Man 2 arrived as the MCU was still finding its feet), from the outside it looks like Feige and co. are pulling the breaks on the ‘content’ machine a little bit.

In the realm of upcoming Marvel projects, many faced delays due to the historic 118-day SAG-AFTRA strike that recently concluded, disrupting Hollywood productions. Amidst these challenges, the fourth installment in the Captain America series, ‘Captain America: Brave New World,’ encountered issues not directly linked to the strike.
Initially, the film swapped release dates with ‘Deadpool 3’ as it was only halfway through production when the strike hit. Rumors later circulated about additional reshoots prompted by less-than-satisfactory test screenings and underwhelming action sequences compared to previous series entries.
Marvel Studios has now enlisted screenwriter Matthew Orton, according to Deadline, known for his work on ‘Operation Finale,’ ‘Devil’s Peak,’ and the successful Disney+ series ‘Moon Knight,’ to handle the reshoots. The additional round is scheduled for spring-summer 2024. Despite the setback, ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ won’t hit screens in 2024; its release was pushed to February 14, 2025, pending successful reshoots.

In a sea of upcoming projects based on Marvel characters, several of them have been severely delayed and affected by the historic SAG-AFTRA strike that only recently ended after paralyzing productions in Hollywood for 118 days. But, one MCU project seemingly had problems that weren’t so directly connected to the strike, the upcoming fourth installment in the Captain America series.
‘Captain America: Brave New World’ initially switched release dates with ‘Deadpool 3’ since the movie was only halfway done when the strike began. But then rumors resurfaced that ‘Captain America’ is undergoing another round of reshoots, allegedly due to test screenings being less than satisfactory. More recently, additional details resurfaced that, apparently, action filmed so far was underwhelming when compared to previous installments in the series.

Marvel Studios is trying to recover from its current run of bad luck. While Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 was a bright spot for the brand, the underperformance of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, the low ratings for Secret Invasion, the Jonathan Majors controversy, the Daredevil: Born Again overhaul, and the low box office of The Marvels, the year showing the studio juggernaut in a vulnerability it hasn’t found itself in before. In fact, the behind-the-scenes drama used to be an ongoing issue at its comic rival, DC at Warner Bros. It was even reported last month that Anthony Mackie’s promotion to Captain America with Captain America: Brave New World was having poor test screenings and had planned some reshoots to fix whatever wasn’t working.
Deadline is now reporting that Captain America: Brave New World has hired a new writer to help punch up some scenes.

Marvel Studios has added screenwriter Matthew Orton to the production of “Captain America: Brave New World,” ahead of the superhero sequel’s plans for additional photography sometime in the spring.
The Walt Disney Company announced a series of delays to its theatrical release slate shortly after the conclusion of the SAG-AFTRA strike. Along with “Deadpool 3,” “Thunderbolts” and “Blade,” “Brave New World” was among the group of Marvel productions impacted, moving from a July 26, 2024 date to Feb. 14, 2025. That’s almost seven more months for the studio to work on the fourth “Captain America” film, which had already completed principal photography prior to the actors strike. Reshoots are a commonplace practice for blockbuster tentpoles, particularly Marvel productions.
Orton’s previous credits include the World War II thriller “Operation Finale” and TV work on “Devil’s Peak” and Marvel’s Disney+ series “Moon Knight.” Dalan Musson and Malcolm Spellman have screenplay credits...

Netflix and Jason Bateman will continue collaborating after the mega success of Ozark, Bateman’s gritty thriller series about a Missouri family of money launderers swept into the drug trade. According to Deadline, Bateman will direct Dark Wire, an FBI surveillance thriller based on Wired journalist Joseph Cox’s upcoming book. Bateman will also produce with Michael Costigan through Aggregate Films, Shawn Levy, Dan Cohen, and Dan Levine of 21 Laps.
Based on actual events, Dark Wire revolves around how the FBI established a fake telecom company and posed as a phone service provider to listen in on one of the world’s most infamous gangs. The setup arrested a thousand international criminals, making the sting one for the history books. Matthew Orton is in charge of adapting the story, with Tracey Nyberg executive producing.
Since Arrested Development took the comedy world by storm, Bateman is always up to something new.

Netflix has acquired the rights to an upcoming book called “Dark Wire” about a true story of FBI surveillance, and the streamer has tapped “Ozark” star Jason Bateman to direct and produce a film based on the book.
Bateman will team with “Stranger Things” producer Shawn Levy and his 21 Laps banner on an adaptation of the film, while Matthew Orton (“Operation Finale”) will write the screenplay.
The book “Dark Wire” comes from journalist Joseph Cox, who has written for Wired and Vice Motherboard, among others. Cox announced the project on his personal Twitter last month and explained it examines “one of the craziest law enforcement stings ever,” in which the FBI launched their own phone company in order to track underground crime organizations.

“John Wick” director Chad Stahelski will take his love of assassin films to Warner Bros. as director and producer of the action film “Shibumi,” which now has “Operation Finale” screenwriter Matthew Orton attached to pen the script.
Orton will adapt the script from the 1979 novel of the same name written by Rodney William Whitaker under the pen name Trevanian. It follows the skilled, multilingual assassin Nicholai Hel, who is trained in the “Naked/Kill” technique that involves killing targets with ordinary objects. The novel follows his deadly missions for American intelligence and his quiet retired life in France, all before he is asked to help take down the Mother Company, a shadowy collective that holds control over the world’s energy supply.
Stahelski will produce with Alex Young and Jason Spitz through his 87Eleven production company. The filmmaker, who last year appeared in Warner’s “The Matrix Resurrections,” is also...

I’m reasonably convinced that Chad Stahelski isn’t human. The John Wick director is juggling more projects than an unappreciated intern, and I want to know when he finds time to sleep. We’ll list several of his upcoming endeavors shortly. Still, for now, I want to tell you about Shibumi, an assassin movie Stahelski will direct for Warner Bros. Shibumi recently found a writer in Operation Finale scribe Matthew Orton, and now it’s off to the races.
According to Deadline, Shibumi focuses on the struggle of the “Mother Company,” a collective of energy companies that secretly controls much of the Western world, and a skilled assassin named Nicholaï Hel.
Shibumi is adapted from Trevanian’s (the pseudonym of Rodney William Whitaker) 1979 novel, which you can read the official synopsis for below:

Nazis — remember when they were largely a thing of the past? As Chris Weitz’s true-life thriller reminds us, long before there was an unfortunate smattering of irresponsible “The Nazi Next Door” articles clogging up your Twitter feed, there were literal Gestapo bigwigs and German war criminals living, secretly but side by side, among the postwar population of South American countries. This summer’s surprisingly strong August might end on a low note with the lack of high-profile releases over Labor Day Weekend.
That might not be cause for concern, considering popcorn season is up over 13% compared to 2017. The weekend should, at the very least, top the dreary holiday last year, which was the worst in almost two decades. Earnings for the May to August period in 2018 are expected to reach $4.39 billion, marking a 14% increase from the past season. Last summer sparked apprehension as box office returns were the lowest they had been in 10 years.
MGM’s “Operation Finale” is getting a head start on the weekend, opening on Wednesday in 1,800 venues. The historical drama, which carries a $20 million production budget, is aiming for a six-day tally of $8 million to $10 million. Once upon a time, Ben Kingsley gave his career best performance in Schindler’s List. Fast forward to 2018, and he’s actually playing a member of the Nazi high command. That’s a total 180, but if any actor can pull that off, it’s Kingsley. The Academy Award winning thespian has not had the best roles to play of late, but this week, he has a solid one to sink his teeth into. It’s Operation Finale, a dramatic retelling of a true life spy operation in the 1960’s. If it won’t be another Oscar player for Kingsley, it at least gives him one of his best roles in some time, and that’s worth something. The movie is an historical thriller, as you might have guessed. This is the plot summary available for it: “Fifteen years after the end of World War II, a team of top-secret Israeli...

There’s a certain kind of true-life thriller that benefits from being made in a rough-around-the-edges way. “Operation Finale” is one of those films. It’s a drama about how Israeli agents from the Mossad and Shin Bet, in 1960, learned where Adolf Eichmann, the infamous Nazi war criminal, had disappeared to — Argentina — and went on a hunt to capture him. They extracted him from a suburb of Buenos Aires, where he was hiding in plain sight, and brought him to Israel, where he stood trial for war crimes in the famous 1961 courtroom marathon that was more than just the trial of one man. In many ways, it dragged the full awareness of Nazi atrocities onto the world stage for the first time.

Ben Kingsley has embodied Jewish heroes as iconic as Nazi hunter Simon Wiesenthal (“Murderers Among Us”), Anne Frank’s father Otto (“Anne Frank: The Whole Story”), and businessman Itzhak Stern (“Schindler’s List”). In “Operation Finale,” he adopts another perspective altogether, portraying the ultimate villain in Nazi war criminal Adolf Eichmann.
The innately intense Kingsley isn’t an ideal match for the mild-mannered murderer who inspired philosopher Hannah Arendt to coin the phrase “the banality of evil.” But like the rest of the cast, he holds our attention even when the movie buckles under the burden of earnest intentions.
Once you get past the jarring collection of mismatched accents, it’s a pleasure to be in the company of pros like Oscar Isaac, Mélanie Laurent (“Beginners”), Nick Kroll, and Michael Aronov (“The Americans”). But as Mossad agents, their characters find little pleasure in the task designed by their intimidating boss...

Arriving hot on the heels of “BlacKkKlansman,” Chris Weitz’s “Operation Finale” is a major addition to American cinema’s oddest new sub-genre: Morally conflicted period pieces in which “Star Wars” actors of various ethnicities are cast as sexy Nazi-hunters. MGM has released the final trailer for Oscar Isaac's great looking thriller Operation Finale. The story centers on the real-life event of a spy who is brought in to hunt and capture a Nazi war criminal named Adolf Eichmann who was hiding out in Argentina in the 1960s. He was one of Hitler's deadliest lieutenants.
Isaac (Star Wars: The Last Jedi) stars as Peter Malkin, "the Mossad member and head of a group of Israeli spies who took him down. Eichmann (Ben Kingsley) had murdered Malkin’s sister and her children and was the organizer of the transport of Jews to concentration camps in Europe. He escaped to Austria and then to Argentina after WWII."
Like the first trailer, this one does a great job of building the intensity and also offer up new details on how the story is going to play out.

“We’re all animals,” says Sir Ben Kingsley’s Adolf Eichmann in this intense trailer for Operation Finale. “Some of us just have bigger teeth than others.”
So it goes in director Chris Weitz’s thriller about the Israeli “catch and extract” operation in Argentina to bring to justice the chief architect of Hitler’s Holocaust.
This trailer – the last look at the thriller before MGM releases the film in theaters on Wednesday, August 29 – highlights, among other aspects of the movie, the psychological battle of wills between Kingsley’s Eichmann and Oscar Isaac’s Peter Malkin, one of the Israeli agents tasked with capturing the Nazi.
In exchanges that recall the evil mind games from classics like The Silence of the Lambs and The Exorcist, Eichmann, sounding like evil incarnate, tells Isaac’s agent, “My job was simple: save the country I love from being destroyed. Is your job any different?...

Paramount Studios is in negotiations with Rose Byrne to join the upcoming Tiffany Haddish comedy “Limited Partners.”
The studio announced in May that it had pulled “Transformers 7” from its June 28, 2019, release date, and slotted Haddish’s comedy “Limited Partners” in its place. Paramount set up the project last fall with writers Sam Pitman and Adam Cole-Kelly. The story centers on two female friends who build a successful company, then find their relationship tested following a buyout offer.
Byrne will play the more pragmatic of the two best friends. The comedy is prepping for an October production start. Peter Principato, Itay Reiss, and Joel Zadak are producing.

Exclusive: MGM’s Operation Finale, which follows a team of secret agents in their pursuit of Holocaust Nazi architect Adolf Eichmann 15 years after World War II, is moving up from its Sept. 14 opening to August 29, the Wednesday before the four-day Labor Day stretch.
We hear the film tested quite well in the mid 80s in the top two boxes in a Los Angeles-area screening, but tested through the roof in the high 90s elsewhere in the country. Labor Day is a prime time when upscale and older audiences head to the cinema, and with Operation Finale‘s new date, it gives the Chris Weitz-directed movie a jump on the crowded fall awards season competition.
Other notable adult-oriented pics that launched over Labor Day include The Constant Gardener ($33.5M domestic, plus four Oscar noms and a best supporting actress win for Rachel Weisz), George Clooney thriller The American ($35.6M), John Hillcoat...

Exclusive: The writers’ room for the secretive second season of The Night Manager is complete and it’s more gender balanced than it first appeared.
I understand that Humans and Black Mirror writer Namsi Khan and The Man In The High Castle writer Francesca Gardiner are joining British spy author Charles Cumming and up-and-coming British writer Matthew Orton in the room for the sophomore run of the BBC and AMC thriller.
Although the show has yet to be officially recommissioned, and there’s plenty of rumors as to what shape it will take and which stars will return, I hear that the foursome are in full swing, working on plots for the “slowly developing” drama.
Khan and Gardiner are both rising writers out of the UK. Khan recently wrote an episode of the third season of AMC and Channel sci-fi drama Humans and was part of the writers’ room for...

The secretive second season of The Night Manager is coming together after British spy author Charles Cumming revealed that he was part of the writing team.
Cumming is the second name to emerge for the mysterious group of scribes after Deadline revealed in November that up-and-coming British writer Matthew Orton is on board to pen The Ink Factory-produced second season of the John Le Carré spy thriller.
Orton and Cumming are understood to make up two of the four writers that are working on the series, which has not been officially picked up by British public broadcaster BBC One or U.S. cable network AMC. In fact, The Ink Factory are being increasingly coy about the show’s return, although as one source close to the company remarked, given that it’s a spy drama, it’s no surprise it’s under wraps.
Complicating matters is the fact that Le...
