Ed Barocas
Ed Barocas has served as Legal Director for the American Civil Liberties Union of New Jersey since May 2001. In that role, he oversees the ACLU-NJ's legal program. He manages a docket of dozens of cases, which touch every corner of civil liberties including free speech, religious freedom, equal protection, privacy, reproductive freedom, LGBT rights, students' rights, and due process of law. He has submitted briefs to the United States Supreme Court, and has argued multiple times before the New Jersey Supreme Court and in the Third Circuit Court of Appeals.
He was also lead singer and lyricist of Eddie B & the G Spots, a rock parody song group which consisted of Ed and musicians from Meatloaf and Blood Sweat & Tears. Some of Eddie B's videos and include: "My Name Is Dick Cheney (to Eminem's "My Name Is Slim Shady"), Kayli the Cow (about a cow that actually received a governor's pardon to leave a slaughterhouse), Ode to George Carlin and His Seven Dirty Words (an original - and incredibly dirty - children's sing-a-long), and Talkin' Steroids (to "Talkin' Baseball). Eddie B and the G Spots also have numerous songs available on iTunes. While the group no longer performs live, Ed continues to write and to record parody songs, including with members of the G Spots.
