Dr. Jennifer Ashton is leaving ABC News.
The GMA3 co-host and ABC chief medical correspondent will depart the network in June when her contract ends.
Ashton says she made the decision to leave so that she could build out her new women’s wellness company, Ajenda, which she will lead as founder and CEO. The company — which launched with a newsletter in March — is focused on addressing the challenges of menopause health and weight management.
“I kind of subscribe to the fact that when the universe sends you a message, you should listen to it,” Ashton tells The Hollywood Reporter in an interview. “I’ve been watching and participating in the steadily building upswell of interest of those two areas in our country and in our society and in our culture and media and in medicine and in science.

The Presidents’ Day episode of Good Morning America featured just one of three familiar faces at the desk.
For the program, viewers were greeted by Michael Strahan, who typically hadn’t appeared on Mondays due to working on the opposite coast.
Strahan appeared amid his daughter Isabella’s recent health situation, which has involved her starting chemotherapy.
Meanwhile, Strahan’s primary co-hosts, Robin Roberts and George Stephanopoulos, were not there.
Viewers saw Eva Pilgrim and DeMarco Morgan as replacements for the GMA hosts.
“Good morning, America,” Michael said, adding, “It is good to have Eva and DeMarco here with me on this Presidents’ Day.”

Robin Roberts was missing from the latest episode of Good Morning America following her big night out.
The GMA anchor was replaced on the show for yet another installment in the past several weeks.
Roberts had appeared on the program earlier in the week, blasting critics for attacking the ongoing Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce coverage.
The televised segment included a story featuring Kelce’s interview comments and a discussion of the relationship, followed by Roberts’ voicing her strong opinions.
She was abruptly absent on Friday’s episode, with her familiar co-anchors still appearing at the desk.
However, Roberts seemed to have a good reason for her latest absence after a significant event she appeared at in support of her latest project.

Robin Roberts told fans that she and her co-workers aren’t ready to quit their day jobs for a new career in entertainment.
The Good Morning America regular returned to the desk earlier this week after suddenly missing an episode last week.
Last Friday, Roberts was replaced by Eva Pilgrim, who regularly fills in for her colleague.
However, Roberts was back on Monday and Tuesday and shared several updates with her fans, including her “#tuesdaythoughts.”
The message featured a discussion of how it’s “good to be passionate about dreams” and “healing, freedom, and promotion.”
Roberts shared that one shouldn’t be consumed by it all while waiting for the right path to show itself.

Robin Roberts was absent from Good Morning America for several days while away to promote another project she is heavily involved with.
The longtime GMA anchor appeared on several episodes of ABC’s morning program last week but was not at the desk with George Stephanopolous on Friday.
She also missed Tuesday’s episode, the latter of which featured the return of co-anchor Michael Strahan to the show.
Ahead of that, Monsters and Critics reported that Roberts took a trip with her wife and her “Glam Fam” crew.
The group went to the annual Sundance Film Festival held in Park City, Utah, until the end of the month.
A big part of Roberts’ reason for being there was revealed as she spoke about her upcoming television work, which has her in a different role than usual.

A small contingent of journalists gathered near the Canadian border earlier this morning to watch as Dixville Notch, Nh, continued its tradition of casting the first ballots on an election day.
Nikki Haley cleaned Donald Trump’s clock in this hamlet — 6 votes to none.
As the day goes on, network correspondents are fanning out across the state at precincts to talk to actual voters, after months in which the first-in-the-nation primary was judged and assessed by polls. Commentary and analysis is focusing on whether
Haley and her top surrogate, New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu, blitzed the airwaves on Monday, while Trump held a final rally in Laconia, Nh, where he predicted that Haley would be out of the race after tonight. He was interrupted by climate protesters, who have been a frequent presence at events in recent days.

Have you heard it’s cold in Des Moines? The subzero temperatures are making Monday’s caucuses in Iowa the coldest on record, a running theme of coverage throughout the day and into this evening. It’s not trivial, as the frigid weather may very well impact turnout.
As Iowa’s first votes of the 2024 presidential race come in, expect a lot of analysis, punditry and prediction, even if the results represent just a sliver of the primary electorate. The Hawkeye state’s primacy as the first-in-the-nation often obscures the peculiarities of the caucus system, unless there is some kind of glitch, which is what happened four years ago with the Democrats.
That said, networks see the caucuses as the kickoff of what is hoped a spike in viewer interest in the presidential contest, as was seen in 2020 and 2016. All of the broadcast networks are planning for ongoing coverage of...

A deflated Jo Koy appeared on GMA3: What You Need to Know Monday to reflect on his poorly received monologue as the host of the 81st annual Golden Globes, particularly lamenting a Taylor Swift joke he admitted fell “a little flat.”

Jo Koy has heard the critical responses to his Golden Globes monologue.
“I had fun. It was a moment I’ll always remember,” he said of his time hosting the 2024 awards show on GMA3 the morning after. He then paused. “It’s a tough room. It was a hard job. I’m not gonna lie. Getting that gig and then having the amount of time that we had to prepare, that was a crash course.”
When Koy took the stage Sunday night to open the show, he quickly grew defensive in his monologue after he felt some of his jokes falling flat in the Beverly Hilton’s celebrity-filled room.
“I got the gig 10 days ago!” he told the audience. “You want a perfect monologue?”
“Some I wrote, some other people wrote,” said Koy, who was announced as host on Dec. 21. “I wrote some of these, and those are the ones you’re laughing at.

Three years ago ABC News transformed its 1 p.m. Good Morning America spinoff into an hour dedicated to covering the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, GMA3: What You Need to Know.
The pandemic may have waned, but What You Need to Know is still going strong, and this week, ABC found its new team to lead the hour in DeMarco Morgan, Eva Pilgrim, and GMA3 veteran (and ABC News chief medical correspondent) Dr. Jennifer Ashton.

A former correspondent and anchor for CBS News and some of its local stations, Morgan joined ABC News in December 2022 as a Los Angeles-based correspondent. Pilgrim joined ABC News in 2015, and had been a correspondent and anchor for GMA‘s weekend edition.

Eva Pilgrim and DeMarco Morgan will be the new co-anchors of GMA3: What You Need to Know, which has been without permanent hosts since the exit of Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes.
The network also announced that Gio Benitez would join the Saturday and Sunday editions of Good Morning America as co-anchor, along with Whit Johnson and Janai Norman.
Pilgrim had been co-anchor of GMA on weekends, and Morgan filled in on GMA3 as the network sidelined Robach and Holmes amid revelations that they were in a romantic relationship. As the couple’s affair drew tabloid headlines, ABC News president Kim Godwin mulled what to do about the situation. GMA3 depends on the chemistry between the hosts, and when they were on the air, Robach and Holmes did not address their relationship. The network announced their departure in January.
Jennifer Ashton will continue on GMA3 as chief health and medical correspondent.

Eva Pilgrim and DeMarco Morgan will officially take over as co-anchors of the program, a news-and-lifestyle hour in the early afternoon that is seen as an extension of the Disney network’s flagship “Good Morning America.” They will join Dr. Jen Ashton. Meanwhile, Gio Benitez has been assigned to the team at the weekend version of “GMA.”
Staffers at ABC News were informed of the decision Thursday morning by Kim Godwin, president of the division.

The new Netflix drama The Watcher was watched for 125 million hours on the streamer during its first five days of release, dethroning Ryan Murphy’s other true-crime series, Dahmer, as the week’s most-watched series. But the Broaddus family, on whom the new series is based, has made it known that they will not watch. Good Morning America‘s Eva Pilgrim said on October 18 that ABC News had reached out to the Broadduses for comment, but they declined. Despite not going on the record about the series, the family’s representative did confirm that they will not be watching the series. “They do still live here in the [Westfield, New Jersey] area. And we’ve been told they have no plans to watch the show; the trailer was traumatizing enough,” Pilgrim said. While the series fictionalizes their story, giving the family a new name — the Brannocks — it is well known that the show...

ABC News has found the next co-anchor for the weekend edition of Good Morning America.
On Tuesday, ABC News president Kim Godwin told staff that Janai Norman will join the program effective immediately, working alongside anchors Whit Johnson and Eva Pilgrim.
“Janai is a versatile and talented journalist, whether she is anchoring at the desk, conducting a one-on-one interview with a newsmaker of the day or reporting in the field on breaking news,” Godwin wrote in her memo to staff. “She puts her heart into her work and makes it a priority to cover the most important underreported issues of our time, including the maternal mortality crisis facing Black women and the stigma of mental health.”
Norman effectively succeeds Dan Harris, who left the program last summer to focus on his meditation company.

Janai Norman, who has worked in various jobs for ABC News since 2016, was named a co-anchor of the weekend edition of “Good Morning America,” a part of the morning-news franchise that has gotten new attention in recent years.
Norman may already be familiar to viewers of the show. She has hosted its “Pop News” segment on weekends, joining the proceedings when ABC News launched a second hour of weekend “GMA” in October of 2019. Dan B. Harris, a longtime ABC News anchor, left the weekend broadcast last year to pursue entrepreneurial ventures. Norman will join co-anchors Whit Johnson and Eva Pilgrim starting with next weekend’s broadcast.

Some of the anchors on ABC News’ most popular programs have in recent days spent significant portions of on-air time covering an unorthodox topic: the inner workings of the company that employs them.
Hosts including “Good Morning America’s” weekend on air staff and “The View” co-host Sunny Hostin took to their shows on Sunday and Monday to discuss allegations raised in a Huffington Post article that claimed a senior ABC News executive, Barbara Fedida, made insensitive, sometimes racially tinged comments about several journalists of color at the Walt Disney-owned unit. ABC News placed the executive, who has overseen talent and career development at the news operation since 2011, on administrative leave following publication of the article, which detailed allegations of remarks made about such anchors as Hostin and Robin Roberts, along with former staffer Kendis Gibson.

ABC News said it placed one of its senior executives on administrative leave after a Huffington Post report detailed alleged complaints about her behavior lodged by staffers to the human-resources department.
Barbara Fedida joined ABC News for a second stint when Ben Sherwood, the former president of the division, brought her aboard in 2011 as senior vice president for talent and business. As part of that role, she had a strong influence in determining who ABC News hired and the career paths of many of the news operation’s journalists and correspondents. She has over the years been seen by staffers as an aide to the unit’s top managers, acting as a lieutenant of sorts to Sherwood and other senior ABC News executives. She currently reports to ABC News President James Goldston.

George Floyd's daughter is opening up about her father's death. On Wednesday, Good Morning America aired a heartbreaking interview with 6-year-old Gianna Floyd, which comes just one week after her dad was killed at the hands of the Minnesota Police Department. When asked what she wants people to know, Gianna told Gma's Eva Pilgrim, "That I miss him." She also shared what her dad was like, saying that he "played with me." Indeed, her mom Roxie Washington, who tearfully sat next to her during the interview, praised George's love for her daughter. "She didn't have to play with nobody else because daddy was going to play with her all day long,"...

ABC News is adding more hours to “Good Morning America.”
After launching an early-afternoon version of the A.M. mainstay in 2018, the Disney-owned network now plans to double the hours of the show’s Saturday broadcast. Starting October 5, Saturday’s “Gma” will air starting at 8 a.m. in nearly 100 markets, including New York, Chicago and Philadelphia. All told, the new two-hour broadcast – anchored by Dan Harris Eva Pilgrim, Whit Johnson and Rob Marciano – will reach 40% of the U.S, though ABC said more stations will air the show in months to come.
All of ABC’s owned-and-operated stations have committed to airing the expanded show by early 2020, after the end of the college football season, ABC News said. At present, the Saturday hour airs at different times in different markets, depending on the needs of local stations.

Months after the TV star left The View in July, Paula also officially said goodbye to her gig as Weekend Anchor of Good Morning America on Saturday, Sept. 29. During her last day on Gma, an emotional Paula broke into tears as her co-hosts played a look back at her best on-air moments from the last four years. "Thank you from the bottom of my heart. This has just been the honor of a lifetime, and I love you guys, and you’ll be seeing a lot of me," the 42-year-old said after the video played for ABC viewers. "I’ve loved this show. And, these people. The love you see and feel on-screen is real. And, rare. It’s been my honor and privilege to be part of this team the last four years," Paula later wrote on Twitter following her final broadcast.
