Blue Swede’s “Hooked on a Feeling” is one of the most famous classic rock one-hit wonders of the 1970s. Notably, Blue Swede was not the first act to record the song. In addition, the writer of the song was behind major hits by Elvis Presley.
The original version of Blue Swede’s ‘Hooked on a Feeling’ was interpreted as a drug song
Mark James wrote “Hooked on a Feeling.” He’s most known for writing hits from Elvis’ comeback period, including “Suspicious Minds,” “Raised on Rock,” and “Always on My Mind.” During a 2014 interview with Spin, he revealed his love for his childhood crush inspired “Hooked on a Feeling.” “It’s a true story,” he said. “It’s more or less a song about someone I wanted to be with.”

"Guardians of the Galaxy" was a massive audience-pleaser, and one of those faces in the theater it brought a smile to was none other than Kevin Bacon's. Imagine being Kevin Bacon sitting in your local multiplex, throwing back some popcorn and watching the latest big MCU movie only to find out you yourself end up being not only name-checked in the movie, but also become kind of essential to the plot.
Bacon would ultimately appear alongside the Guardians of the Galaxy themselves in last year's "The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special," but before that was even a possibility, he was just a movie fan whose "jaw dropped" when he heard his name pop up in that first film. He described that moment in an interview with IGN:
"If you can imagine sitting there in a dark theater and all of a sudden hearing yourself name dropped in that kind of way,...

One of the more notable features of James Gunn's 2014 film "Guardians of the Galaxy," the tenth film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, was its rockin' soundtrack of familiar 1970s hits. The film's main character, Peter Quill (Chris Pratt), was abducted from Earth as a boy and raised among space aliens. One of the only things he kept as a vestige of his life on Earth was a Walkman and a mixtape that was gifted to him by his dying mother. The tape contained "Hooked on a Feeling" by Blue Swede, David Bowie's "Moonage Daydream," The Runaway's "Cherry Bomb," and Rupert Holmes' oft-reviled "Escape (The Piña Colada Song)." Peter Quill's mother had interesting taste. Norman Greenbaum's popular pick "Spirit in the Sky" played in the film's preview and is on its soundtrack record, but isn't actually played in the final cut of the movie.

To say that 2014's "Guardians of the Galaxy" was an unlikely success is an understatement. Sure, by that point the Marvel Cinematic Universe had established itself as the dominant force in popular culture, but taking a team of C-list superheroes that includes a talking tree and giving them the blockbuster treatment? Until the moment James Gunn's movie actually hit theaters, it seemed like a fool's errand. But Gunn proved all of us wrong in a big, bad way. A major part of the movie's success? The brilliant stroke of a soundtrack, dubbed "Awesome Mix Vol. 1."
Gunn did indeed use a musical score, composed by Tyler Bates, in the film. But pop songs that Peter Quill would have heard on Earth as a kid were woven into the fabric of "Guardians of the Galaxy" as well, with the sounds included on Star-Lord's mixtape anchoring the soundtrack. And that soundtrack holds...

The song comes during the film’s climactic scene, and evidently it worked its magic on the artist.
“So I cried all the way through this movie but when the Guardians of the Galaxy started dancing to ‘Dog Days; I really lost it,” she wrote in the caption.
In the video, Welch bursts out crying soon after her song starts playing.

From “Spirit in the Sky” to Blue Swede’s infectious “Hooked on a Feeling” – a song that has since become synonymous with Marvel’s galactic anti-heroes – the soundtrack to Guardians of the Galaxy was arguably the most crowd-pleasing element of James Gunn’s 2014 sleeper hit. And that’s really saying something, given the film featured a talking tree and a warrior that struggled to wrap his head around the concept of a metaphor.
With Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 now teetering on the verge of its theatrical release, the level of interest in Star-Lord and the crew has grown astronomically in the past three years, though if there’s one ingredient that James Gunn has carried over from the first movie, it’s fist-pumping power ballads. Now, Rolling Stone has officially cracked open Awesome Mix Vol. 2 to reveal the songs set to feature throughout Guardians 2.

Few blockbuster films are as synonymous with their soundtrack as “Guardians of the Galaxy,” Marvel‘s rip-roaring space adventure laid out the importance of music in its very first trailer, introducing a new generation of fans to the unavoidably catchy funk of Blue Swede‘s “Hooked on a Feeling.” James Gunn also doubled down on the music in the movie itself, making his main character’s old Walkman the only connection he had with his home planet.

As cool as director James Gunn's Guardians Of The Galaxy is, that movie wouldn't kick nearly as much ass without the stellar soundtrack that accompanies it. Don't get me wrong, I love Gamora, Star-Lord and the rest of Marvel's a-holes as much as you do, but it was the groovy tunes of The Runaways, Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell, The Jackson 5, Blue Swede and 10cc that put it over the... Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 offered up a thrilling new preview of the upcoming Marvel blockbuster during Jimmy Kimmel Live Tuesday night, with Chris Pratt surprising the audience to deliver the trailer.
Like its previous trailers, this extended look at the sequel goes light on plot details to focus on the witty repartee between the Guardians.
With Fleetwood Mac's "The Chain" serving as soundtrack – following trailers paced to Blue Swede's "Hooked on a Feeling" and Sweet's "Fox on the Run" – the preview provides a humorous look at...

The gang is back together in the first teaser trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, which opens in theaters in May.
Soundtracked by the familiar sounds of Blue Swede's "Hooked on a Feeling," a song that played a prominent role in the first film, the sequel's first preview doesn't spoil much in terms of plot. However, the Guardians are shown walking in slow motion and reuniting with adversaries-turned-allies like Michael Rooker's Yondu and Karen Gillan's Nebula.

The first teaser trailer for the highly-anticipated “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” is finally here! The sneak peek was released shortly after Marvel shared the first poster which shows the extraterrestrial misfits looking pretty badass.
The trailer begins with various snippets including the main characters, while the song “Hooked on a Feeling” by Blue Swede plays in the background. Gamora (Zoe Saldaña) is seen holding a weapon and sprinting forward, Star Lord (Chris Pratt) flies a spaceship, Yondu (Michael Rooker) and Rocket Raccoon (voiced by Bradley Cooper) are seen walking on a bridge in slow-motion, and much more.
“There are two types of beings in the universe: those who dance and those who do not,” says Drax (Dave Bautista) to Star-Lord, who responds, “I get it. I’m a dancer, Gamora is not.”
“You just need to find a woman who is pathetic like you,” replies Drax before giving him a hug.
