Imagine traveling back in time to see the house where Kurt Cobain grew up — and finding it pretty much as it was as when he lived there. Thanks to a recent government hearing and restoration plans, that rock fantasy may become a reality — plus a corresponding, nearby gallery of Cobain’s life to boot.
Last week, Washington state’s Department of Archaeology and Historic Preservation announced that the one-and-a-half-story house in Aberdeen, where Cobain lived from 1968 to 1984, had been officially approved for inclusion on its “Heritage Register” of culturally important buildings.

Bill Pagel knows what you’re thinking, so he’ll say it for you. Last month, the Hibbing, Minnesota resident bought the two-story house where Bob Dylan lived between 1948 and 1959. It follows his 2001 purchase of a dwelling in Duluth where the singer and his family lived before Hibbing. “When you start collecting homes – and I’ve got two – I think that’s when you should probably get some professional help,” Pagel says with a self-deprecating laugh. “That’s end-stage collecting.”

“Shazam!” screenplay writer Henry Gayden has been tapped to write the DC superhero movie’s sequel for DC and New Line, an individual with knowledge of the situation told TheWrap. The filmmaking team of David F. Sandberg and Peter Safran are also expected to return.
The writer has a busy slate as he is also adapting “Last Human,” a live-action science fiction film from Phil Lord and Christopher Miller based on the forthcoming novel of the same name by Lee Bacon, which Sony/TriStar have won in a bidding war. The film is described as a “reverse Et” and tells the story of an artificial intelligence society where three robots discover a human child.
“Shazam!” was the #1 film worldwide this weekend, over-performing expectations with a domestic cume of $56.8 million (inclusive of $3.3m in previews) and $102.3 internationally for a worldwide figure of $159.1 million on a relatively modest budget for a superhero film.

Phil Lord and Chris Miller have found their next live-action film project that they will direct. The movie is a sci-fi film called The Last Human and after a heated bidding war between several studios, the project landed at Sony’s Tristar Pictures.
The Last Human is based on an upcoming children’s book of the same name that was written by Lee Bacon. It’s described as a “reverse Et, in which three robots discover and protect a human child.” Here’s the plot summary that was provided by THR:
Set after the robot apocalypse, when humans have been extinct for thirty years, the story follows a 12-year-old robot, XR_935, who is happy to live in a world without crime, pollution or war. One day, Xr discovers a human, Emma, who is also 12 years old, but has spent her entire life inside an underground bunker, hidden away from machines.

Sony announced Monday that it had topped bids from Netflix, Warner Bros., and Universal for the movie rights to the upcoming novel by Lee Bacon, set in a future in which robots have eliminated humans, when a 12-year-old robot discovers and befriends a human girl, then sets off on a journey toward a mysterious point on a map. The story is described as a “reverse Et.” Bacon has also written the “Joshua Dread” and “Legendtopia” books.

Exclusive: Sony Pictures is putting the finishing touches on a huge deal that brings the studio Last Human, a package for a tentpole project to be directed and produced by Phil Lord & Christopher Miller, one that all weekend had Universal, Warner Bros, Netflix, MGM/Annapurna, Paramount, New Regency and Mrc all bidding. Everybody but Fox/Disney, after Lord & Miller were unceremoniously dropped from the Star Wars spinoff Solo.
Sources said the upfront commitment is eight-figures — I’m hearing as high as $15 million — and that between directing and producing, Lord and Miller will each get a double-digit back end. This auction got that hot. It’s easily going to be the biggest deal of the new year when it’s all papered. The film will be made through Sony’s TriStar label, with Hannah Minghella overseeing.
