Newly launched U.K. production outfit Flying Fish has signed a three-year multi-film distribution deal with U.K. theatrical distribution company Entertainment Film Distributors (Efd).
The deal will cover the upcoming slate of Flying Fish, a joint venture between Fred Films’ James Spring and filmmakers Nick Moorcroft and Meg Leonard. This includes a sequel to “Fisherman’s Friends” (2019), currently in pre-production, and an untitled biopic on the inspirational life of late British Covid-19 and WWII hero Captain Sir Tom Moore.
Flying Fish are also collaborating with award-winning playwright Roy Williams on a biopic of British-Jamaican reggae musician, celebrity chef, author and businessman, Levi Roots.
Spring, Moorcroft and Leonard first worked together on the successful St. Trinian’s franchise, backed and distributed by Efd. They also collaborated on “Finding Your Feet,” which won the audience award at the Palm Springs Film Festival and made some $8 million at the U.K. box office.

Captain Sir Tom Moore, whose garden walks raised $45M for the NHS and inspired many during the UK’s first lockdown, has died at the age of 100. He had been taken to hospital with pneumonia and had also tested positive for Covid-19 before passing away.
His daughters, Ingram-Moore and Lucy Teixeira, confirmed the news in a statement, as reported by the BBC.
“It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our dear father, Captain Sir Tom Moore… We are so grateful that we were with him during the last hours of his life… The last year of our father’s life was nothing short of remarkable. He was rejuvenated and experienced things he’d only ever dreamed of. Whilst he’d been in so many hearts for just a short time, he was an incredible father and grandfather, and he will stay alive in our hearts forever,...

Captain Sir Tom Moore, one of the heroes of the U.K.’s fight against the coronavirus pandemic, has died after contracting the virus. He was 100.
Moore was taken to Bedford Hospital on Sunday with breathing difficulties. He died on Tuesday.
Moore raised close to £33 million ($45 million) for the U.K.’s National Health Service (NHS) by by walking laps around his garden in the run-up to his 100th birthday during the first wave of the pandemic in 2020.
Moore’s original aim was to raise £1000 by walking 100 laps around his garden with the aid of his walker. He also recorded a hit single, “You’ll Never Walk Alone,” that hit No. 1 on the U.K. charts. In the process, he broke two Guinness World Records — for the oldest person to achieve a U.K. No. 1 track, displacing Tom Jones, and also for raising the most money on an individual charity walk.

The Queen’s Birthday Honours List, which recognizes the achievements of a wide-range of UK figures, has been postponed from its traditional June date this year due to the coronavirus.
The awards, ranging from knighthoods to MBEs, were scheduled to be handed out on the 94-year-old royal’s birthday on the second Saturday in June, which this year falls on June 12.
Instead, they will now be pushed back until the autumn, according to BBC journo Lizo Mzimba who took to twitter to state that Pm Boris Johnson had confirmed the news in a statement to Parliament. “The list and future lists will include individuals being recognized for efforts related to Covid-19,” he wrote. UK paper The Mirror also confirmed the Pm’s statement, reporting that he said the list must be published “at the appropriate time”.
