Maybe it's that sunny weather Angelinos are always bragging about. Or maybe it's the fact that he's worked hard to achieve what he has now: a respectable career, a stable marriage, and two wonderful boys. Either way, the contrast between where he once was and his current status isn't lost on him, even if it is lost on his kids.

It was Valentine’s Day earlier this year when, in an Albany courtroom, the seven judges that make up the New York State Court of Appeals spent part of their day hearing oral arguments about potentially overturning the nearly four-year-old landmark trial in which Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein was found guilty of two of five felony counts of rape, resulting in a prison sentence of 23 years. On Thursday, more than two months later, the court announced it has reversed the mogul’s conviction in what is a shocking move to many and a pivotal moment in the #MeToo era.
Others who were closely watching the case and the proceedings on that February day in Albany may feel less shocked by the reversal. That Wednesday, the court’s seven judges — four women and three men — held both defense and the prosecution attorneys to account for their arguments, which centered around the...

In a stunning development of news, the ruling of former Miramax studio head, Harvey Weinstein, has been overturned by the New York State Court of Appeals in his rape charges conviction back in 2020. The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that the court had a 4-3 ruling that claimed that “the judge in the New York County trial prejudiced Weinstein with improper rulings, including allowing women to testify about allegations that were not part of the case.” The court, which is the highest court in the state’s judicial system, has now decided that a new trial must take place.
Judge Jenny Rivera stated in her ruling that “Under our system of justice, the accused has a right to be held to account only for the crime charged and, thus, allegations of prior bad acts may not be admitted against them for the sole purpose of establishing their propensity for criminality. Nor...

Four years after Harvey Weinstein was found guilty of rape in New York, a victory for the #MeToo movement, the disgraced film mogul’s conviction has been overturned. On Thursday, the New York Court of Appeals reached a 4-3 decision to overturn the conviction.
In a 77-page decision, the majority of judges decided that the judge who oversaw Weinstein’s trial, Justice James M. Burke, should not have allowed prosecutors to let accusers whose allegations were not part of the charges against him to testify in the trial.

(Updated with statement from Weinstein spokesperson & Silence Breakers) New York’s highest court on Thursday overturned Harvey Weinstein’s 2020 conviction on felony sex crime charges, ordering a new trial. However, that doesn’t mean the Pulp Fiction producer will be stepping out of prison any time soon.
In a 4-3 ruling (read it below), the New York Court of Appeals flipped Weinstein’s conviction, stating the judge in charge of the trial “erroneously admitted testimony of uncharged, alleged prior sexual acts against persons other than the complainants of the underlying crimes.”
“Defendant was convicted by a jury for various sexual crimes against three named complainants and, on appeal, claims that he was judged, not on the conduct for which he was indicted, but on irrelevant, prejudicial, and untested allegations of prior bad acts,” Judge Jenny Rivera wrote in the Appeals Court ruling of the verdict against Weinstein and his subsequent...

The Apple TV+ limited series “Lessons in Chemistry” tells the story of Elizabeth Zott (Brie Larson), a brilliant chemist struggling against the blatant sexism of the 1950s science community before taking her skills and empowering women over the airwaves through a science-driven cooking show. But how did the artists behind the scenes transport us to the era? We spoke with editor Geraud Brisson, hair department head Teressa Hill, cinematographer Jason Oldak, composer Carlos Rafael Rivera, supervising sound editor Perry Robertson, and production designer Cat Smith for a special “Making Of” panel. Watch our entire discussion above.

Disdain for Larry David Geraldo Rivera made headlines following his candid post on X, formerly Twitter, expressing his dissatisfaction with Larry David and his portrayal in ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’. This comment has sparked conversations about the interplay between an actor’s real persona and their on-screen character. The Petty Feud Over Politics It appears politics play a central role in this distaste. YouTube’s first season with NFL Sunday Ticket is leading to big changes in how the streaming giant plans to stream this year’s Coachella music festival, which will kick off on April 12 at 4 p.m. Pst.
YouTube will be streaming the festival for the 12th year, but in a big change, it will bring “Multiview” to its streams, letting users watch up to four different Coachella stages at the same time on their connected TV sets (YouTube will stream six stages total).
“This year after multiview became a critical part of the NFL Sunday Ticket experience, we knew how valuable it could be if applied to the Coachella viewing experience,” says Ali Rivera, who leads YouTube’s live music and artist partnerships business.
YouTube has made live events a strategic priority, with its multi-billion dollar bet on Sunday Ticket a big part of that, but Rivera frames it as a larger flywheel at play.

Kailyn Lowry of Teen Mom 2 fame and Mama June from Here Comes Honey Boo Boo have a couple of small things in common. They are both mothers who raised their children partially in front of the public eye thanks to reality TV. That is where the similarities end, insists Lowry. The mother of seven recently took to social media to weigh in on the recent drama surrounding Mama June and the pilfering of money earned by her daughter, Alana Thompson. Lowry has opinions and revealed exactly how she safeguarded funds for her young children.
Kailyn Lowry lambasts Mama June for failing to plan for Alana Thompson’s future
Earlier this week, We TV shared an explosive clip from Mama June: Family Crisis. In the clip, Alana Thompson and her sister, Lauryn Efird, go head to head with their mother, June Shannon, over Thompson accessing money she earned on TV for college.

The Real Ghostbusters had only concluded six years before its direct sequel premiered in 1997. And, as with many things geared toward children at the time, there was this trend of overselling the product to bring in both eyes and money. Hence the title of Extreme Ghostbusters (hereinafter referred to as Xgb). The revival never quite lived up to the marketing hype, however, this cartoon was also no lightweight. It proved to be a worthy successor that was neither afraid of no ghost nor afraid to push the envelope in ways its predecessor could not.
After a few blissful years of zero paranormal activity in Xgb, the supernatural has returned in full force to haunt New York City and the rest of America. So who you gonna call to handle this new flux of specters, ghouls and other uncanny creatures? Well, not the Ghostbusters. The original team understandably disbanded after fulfilling their mission.

Few artists leave a legacy that becomes championed by an entire country. Yet Frida Kahlo stood out as an icon, even while her career unfolded. The iconic Mexican painter and artist built incredible pieces that addressed the pain and suffering of her life. She also pushed back against cultural norms around womanhood, motherhood, and being a partner in a relationship. Amazon’s new documentary, titled Frida, allows the audience to explore her life through her journals.
Frida Plot
Directed by Carla Gutierrez, Frida pulls from Cahlo’s diaries and those of her social circles throughout her life. As she rises to prominence as an artist, she becomes intertwined with Diego Rivera. The two collaborate and use each other as a sounding board, even when they are unfaithful to one another. They built up the Mexican art scene, and over time, Frida became known worldwide for her bold, honest artwork.

Carla Gutierrez, a Peruvian emigre to the United States who made her name as an editor of documentaries (“Rbg”), transitions to director with “Frida” (Time Studios/Imagine Documentaries/Amazon/MGM), which debuted at the Sundance Film Festival on Thursday, January 18.
Long obsessed with Mexican artist Frida Kahlo, Gutierrez was reading some of the books about her and realized there was enough material for Kahlo to narrate her own story. “When I started looking at research material, I found that no one had truly focused on her voice and let Frida herself carry a narrative,” said Gutierrez via a Zoom interview.
She went to her “Rbg” and “Julia” directors Julie Cohen and Betsy West and pitched them the idea of digging deep into a third “kick-ass woman,” said Gutierrez. They became executive producers, but when they went out to find backing, some companies were afraid of a Spanish-language archive movie that might feel historically distant.

The image of Frida Kahlo, the prominent Mexican painter of the early 20 century, is one of the most replicated and commercialized of any artist in the history of the world. From T-shirts to houseware, merchandise of all sorts emblazoned with her face has turned Kahlo into a kitschy, mainstream, decontextualized emblem for Mexican identity. It doesn’t help that the vast majority of her works are self-portraits. Onscreen, the Salma Hayek-starring Hollywood biopic from director Julie Taymor and Paul Leduc’s 1983’s Mexican-production “Frida Still Life” attempted to decipher the tehuana-clad iconoclast via scripted portrayals.

One of the great tragedies of Frida Kahlo’s life is the fact that, for all her brilliance as an artist, she was often defined by the people whose orbits she shared. In the eyes of many, her primary role in history was being Diego Rivera’s wife, a source of inspiration and creative friction that propelled him to greatness as he painted his legendary murals. Her infamous affair with Leon Trotsky only added to the mystique of her image as a muse for male revolutionaries. It’s a wildly simplistic understanding of her life, of course, as Kahlo’s paintings are every bit as historically significant as Rivera’s. From her early embrace of Mexican folk art and Surrealist imagery to her unflinching depictions of female anatomy and malaise, Kahlo...

My guess is that Frida Kahlo would have loathed “Immersive Frida Kahlo,” the kind of touring exhibit that professes to honor the canvas while bathing it in digital-tech kitsch. And, having seen Carla Gutiérrez’s riveting documentary Frida, I’m certain the artist would have announced her disdain with a laugh and a healthy dose of juicy invective. If you want to immerse yourself in Frida Kahlo, here is the real thing.
Taking the helm for the first time, editor Gutiérrez (Rbg, Julia) pushes past the dime-a-dozen “icon” label to face the artist on her own terms, drawing upon Kahlo’s illustrated diaries and letters. The film’s archival riches also include an extraordinary selection of photographs and footage, and the transcripts of interviews with people close to Kahlo by biographer Hayden Herrera, whose 1983 book was the basis of the Julie Taymor biopic starring Salma Hayek.

David Bowie had Ziggy Stardust and Aladdin Sane, David Johansen had Buster Poindexter, Lady Gaga spent a whole season as Jo Calderone, and the less said about Garth Brooks's Chris Gaines era the better, but it certainly happened. Exclusive: Tony Yazbeck is set for a key recurring role opposite Josh Andrés Rivera, Lindsay Mendez and Patrick Schwarzenegger in Ryan Murphy’s FX anthology American Sports Story, Deadline has learned.
American Sports Story, a new extension of Murphy’s “American Story” franchise, is a scripted anthological limited series focusing on a prominent event involving a sports figure and re-examines it through the prism of today’s world, telling that story from multiple perspective.
The first installment, written by Stu Zicherman, is based on the podcast Gladiator: Aaron Hernandez and Football Inc from the Boston Globe and Wondery. It charts the rise and fall of NFL superstar Aaron Hernandez, played by Rivera, and explores the connections of the disparate strands of his identity, his family, his career, his suicide, and their legacy in sports and American culture. Schwarzenegger portrays Hernandez’s friend, former college teammate and fellow former NFL star Tim Tebow.

Josh Andrés Hernandez is preparing to dig into the mind of Aaron Hernandez for his upcoming role in Ryan Murphy’s American Sports Story.
The actor spoke with Deadline about preparing to portray the troubled former Patriots tight end at Monday’s Los Angeles premiere of the upcoming Hunger Games prequel, Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes.
“It’s a story with a lot of factors, as I’m sure everybody with familiarity towards it knows. There’s the mental health factor, the crime factor, the money, the fame, all of these things,” he said. “As an actor, it’s kind of like it’s a dream to have something so, so juicy to dive into it.”
In addition to researching Hernandez and his history, Rivera is also working on bulking up to play the part of an offensive lineman.
“They’re trying to get me as big as I can be.
