Kenneth Branagh is back for this third — and by TheWrap’s account, best — appearance as Agatha Christie’s detective Hercule Poirot in “A Haunting in Venice.” He also directs the spooky mystery, which boasts a terrific lineup of murder suspects (and potential victims), including Michelle Yeoh, Tina Fey, Jamie Dornan and Kelly Reilly.
Here’s who plays which character in the film based on Christie’s 1969 novel “Hallowe’en Party” — and where you might have seen the less familiar names before.
“A Haunting in Venice” is now streaming on Disney+.
20th Century Studios.
Kenneth Branagh as Hercule Poirot
British actor Kenneth Branagh reprises his role as the fussy Belgian detective, Hercule Poirot, whom he previously played in the recent remakes “Murder on the Orient Express” and “Death on the Nile.” The film begins in 1947 with Poirot retired from sleuthing and leading a quiet life in Venice — until he’s dragged into a new case.

Back in 2015, a rising pop star named Halsey took an unknown band from Oregon on the road as the opening act on her Badlands tour. They were called Flor, and they spent a month that fall playing small venues across the U.S. and Canada and learning a lot in the process.
“We got crazy lucky with Halsey taking us on tour — for a tour we probably weren’t prepared for entirely,” says lead vocalist Zach Grace. “It helped shape what we wanted. Because seeing the shows just packed with the energy,...

In case you forgot, Mystique helps Magneto escape his glass and plastic prison in X2: X-Men United by injecting a security guard’s butt with iron. With Logan currently in theaters and the fact that the movie brings X-23 to the screen for the first time, Nerdist's Kyle Hill breaks down the scientific reasons why X-23's claws are deadlier than Wolverine's.
Laura Kinney, a.k.a. X-23, was created from Wolverine's DNA. She shares every bit of Wolverine’s mutant genetics, which means she has an enhanced healing factor, bone claws likewise covered in indestructible Adamantium, and of course, an attitude problem. One of the biggest differences between the two characters is that X-23 has two claws on her hands and Logan has three. According to science, this one difference makes her more deadly. Hill explains:
"I’m taking a swipe at the true cutting power of both Wolverine and X-23. I argue that because of how knives, blades, and claws cut and pierce in the first place — applying large forces over very small areas...
