Welcome to this review of night one of WWE’s Wrestlemania 40 pay-per-view which came live from Philadelphia. Let’s see what went down on Saturday’s show…
Match 1: Women’s World Championship – Rhea Ripley def. Becky Lynch The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
The Women’s World Championship will remain with Rhea Ripley as Mami defeated The Man to kick off WrestleMania Xl Saturday. Ripley was on a mission not to just defeat Becky Lynch, but humiliate her with an incredible strength advantage. Ever the fighter, Lynch refused to be dominated, battling back in typical Lasskicker fashion. The Man finally gained the upper hand thanks to her resiliency, punctuated by a huge leg drop to the back of the champion’s head, but the power of Ripley allowed her to dump the challenger on her head. Lynch managed to lock in the Dis-arm-her on the injured elbow of Mami,...

Damian Priest, Finn Bálor, Jd McDonagh and “Dirty” Dominik Mysterio picked up a major victory ahead of WrestleMania Xl by defeating the joint teams of New Day and #DIY. After New Day nullified McDonagh, #DIY used their tandem offense to take out “Dirty” Dom, but it didn’t bode well for Xavier Woods, Kofi Kingston, Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa after that exchange. Señor Money in The Bank tagged into the match and ran roughshod over his competition before hitting Ciampa with a ring-shattering Razor’s Edge to earn the victory for his team.

WWE 2K24 finally launched recently, and it is definitely making all the wrestling fans happy. Its updated roaster and its incredible visuals are no doubt something to be excited about. Besides those obvious changes, this game also brings a bunch of new game modes, such as the ambulance match, and new moves, such as the ability to throw weapons at opponents.
While all these things no doubt make this game something that every WWE fan out there must have, just like every previous game in this long-running series, there’s something that not every fan would agree with, and that is the overall ratings of some of the wrestlers. Here are five WWE stars who deserve a better rating in WWE 2K24.

Match #1: Jey Uso & The New Day def. Imperium The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
“Main Event” Jey Uso wanted to tangle with Intercontinental Champion Gunther in the early goings, but The Ring General wanted no part of Uso, playing mind games with “Main Event” Jey. Imperium’s game plan worked to perfection for most of the match, with The Ring General picking off the scraps left behind by Ludwig Kaiser and Giovanni Vinci. Jey brought his team back to life once he was tagged in, with Gunther continuing to avoid his “Main Event” problem. Match #1: No. 1 Contenders Tag Team Turmoil – Winners: The Creed Brothers The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
#DIY def. Alpha Academy – Otis and Akira Tozawa teamed for the first time as Alpha Academy got Tag Team Turmoil underway against Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa. Tozawa and Otis looked great, hitting a tandem Caterpillar before going for a high-risk move. The risk did not pay off, however, as #DIY dispatched Alpha Academy with the Meeting in the Middle.
#DIY def. Indus Sher – Indus Sher emerged next to face #DIY, with Sanga and Veer making an immediate impact by driving Gargano and Ciampa into the ring post. Gargano was able to stun Veer with a rollup to keep rolling in Tag Team Turmoil.

In the final moments of a tremendous tag team matchup pitting The New Day against The Alpha Academy, Kofi Kingston took advantage of Chad Gable being down and out at ringside to hit Trouble in Paradise on Otis. This set up Xavier Woods to finish him with the elbow off the top rope.

At the end of "Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse," Peter B. Parker (Jake Johnson) went back to his home universe and reconciled with his ex Mary Jane Watson. Peter is back in the sequel, "Across The Spider-Verse" and this time he's got someone coming with him — his and Mj's daughter, Mayday Parker, who has inherited her father's spider powers.
Don't expect to see this new Spider-Girl pop up in mainstream Marvel Comics, though. In that world, Peter and Mj are currently separated. They've been on-again, off-again since 2008. What happened that year? Only the most despised Spider-Man storyline ever written, "One More Day." What happens in this infamous story? During "Civil War," Aunt May was shot and is in terminal condition. So, to save her life, Peter and Mj make a deal with Mephisto (the Marvel Universe's devil) to erase their marriage from history. Some extra salt in the wound? During "One More Day,...

Don Lemon’s abrupt departure from CNN will mean another shuffling of its morning-show lineup — a distressingly familiar scenario at the cable news outlet.
Lemon was fired from the network on April 24 (after having anchored that day’s CNN This Morning), writing on Twitter that “I am stunned. … At no time was I ever given any indication that I would not be able to continue to do the work I have loved at the network.” CNN said in a statement that Lemon was “offered an opportunity to meet with management but instead released a statement on Twitter.”
Lemon’s tenure as a co-anchor of CNN This Morning lasted less than six months; there’s no word yet on who, if anyone, will join fellow anchors Kaitlan Collins and Poppy Harlow for the time being. But the returns on the show, which debuted in November 2022 as CNN’s latest attempt to fix its morning offerings,...

“CNN This Morning” is the network’s lowest-rated morning show iteration in nearly a decade.
Since its Nov. 1, 2022 launch, “CNN This Morning” — hosted by Don Lemon, Poppy Harlow and Kaitlan Collins — has drawn in the lowest viewership among adults 25-54, the key demographic for cable news, and the second-lowest total viewership among each iteration of the network’s morning programming since “New Day” was launched in June 2013, according to Nielsen data.
CNN chairman and CEO Chris Licht – following in the footsteps of his predecessor former CEO Jeff Zucker – rebooted the network’s morning show within under a year of his tenure as part of his goal of “reimagining” mornings – likely aiming to compete with “Morning Joe,” which Licht co-created in 2007 when he worked at MSNBC – and invested in the goal by shuffling primetime staple Lemon to the new show.

Kofi Kingston has attended countless WWE events like the WWE 2K23 hands-on party in San Antonio during Royal Rumble weekend. Even after 16 years with the organization, he still gets a buzz from appearing in a videogame or being Nxt tag team champion with his New Day brother Xavier Woods. Kingston appreciates each high moment knowing the rollercoaster ride he has been on in his career. One minute riding high on “KofiMania” and the next getting decimated by Brock Lesnar. Today Kingston and partner Woods are gearing up for a fatal-four-way title defense against some of Nxt’s emerging superstars at the Vengeance Day premium live event on Peacock on February 4. The 41-year-old takes pride in helping emerging talent on Tuesday nights. At the same time, he isn’t quite ready to fully hand over the torch. We caught up with Kingston ahead of New Day’s big challenge. As we...

Match #1: Carmelo Hayes def. Axiom The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
Axiom and Carmelo Hayes collided at Nxt Deadline as two of the competitors in the Men’s Iron Survivor Challenge, only for both of them to come up short. Now in a one-on-one contest against each other, both men showed off their supreme athleticism and their savvy technician skills early on. Axiom took the match to another level thanks to an incredible dropkick and a snapping German Suplex as he flew through the ropes. A top rope Hurricanrana seemed to spell doom for Hayes, but interference from Trick Williams allowed Hayes to counter and follow up with Nothing But Net that delivered him the win.

Cora Jade entered and before making her way into the ring, taunted a helpless and hurting Perez in the penalty box.

Match #1: Ricochet def. Mustafa Ali The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
The first round of the SmackDown World Cup on Fox Tournament continued as two of the biggest high-flyers in Mustafa Ali and Ricochet battled on the ground and in the air. Ali, already nursing injuries stemming from the beatdown he suffered at the hands of Bobby Lashley on Monday Night Raw, clearly was not at 100 percent but still took the fight to Ricochet. Top-rope offense, including a backstabber and a superplex, put Ricochet in complete control, and it continued with a Michinoku driver on the outside of the ring. A valiant Ali nearly caught Ricochet with a 450 splash, but Ricochet rolled out of the way and finished off Ali with a shooting star press.

Match #1: Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship – The Usos def. The New Day The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
With history on the line, The New Day were hoping to keep hold of their record run as tag team champions, and they brought everything they had to the titleholders. The Usos isolated Kofi Kingston from Xavier Woods, not allowing Kingston to tag him in. When Kingston eventually tagged in Woods, the former King of the Ring was a house on fire, almost capturing the titles after a flurry of offense. A huge top-rope leg drop from Woods nearly sealed the deal, but Jimmy kicked out at 2.9 repeating. The Usos had a heart-pounding moment of their own, as Woods kicked out of a massive Double Uso Splash.

WWE’s The New Day is a trio of fun-loving and talented wrestlers. Like dating, however, in tag team wrestling three can be a crowd — so how do Big E, Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods decide which two get to participate in a particular match? (Or, you know, how does the mighty WWE creative decide?) “When we first started it was a lot of me and Kofi in the ring because Vince was a big fan of Woods being entertaining with the trombone,” Big E told TheWrap on Thursday. “But right now, I think we have a pretty good rotation.

It’s a new day, yes it is. Three-man WWE tag-team The New Day did not survive the opening match of Sunday’s “Survivor Series.” Fellow threesome The Shield just dropped the opposing trio — some members from greater heights than others. The “Monday Night Raw” representatives conquered the “SmackDown Live” one in pretty killer fashion — just ask Kofi Kingston’s back. And neck. And whomever will have to help him walk to and from the bathroom tonight. 2017-11-09T07:02:17-08:00'Monday Night Football' Gets Ratings Boost, 'Love & Hip Hop' Stays Hot
Despite national anthem controversies and all the other woes that have been plaguing the NFL lately, this season's TV ratings numbers continue to drop nuggets of hope in the league's lap. This week's edition of Monday Night Football on Espn improved its ratings considerably over last week, and the broadcast easily won the night. VH1's Love & Hip Hop, however, drew a significant audience of its own.
Via TV By the Numbers.
Once again, Espn’s continued coverage of “Monday Night Football” led the night in the Monday cable ratings this week.
Here's how our 10-person panel voted. Do you agree?

NBC sportscaster Bob Costas, taking a page from President Donald Trump’s Punch Back Harder Playbook, took on Potus’ war on NFL players who took a knee during the national anthem. “There’s almost no one in the NFL who wants to support or rationalize the tone and content of President Trump’s remarks,” Costas claimed on CNN’s New Day this morning. Veteran sports broadcaster Bob Costas said President Donald Trump’s “insulting remarks” about the NFL and its players had prompted “near universal disgust.” Speaking Monday on CNN’s “New Day,” Costas pointed out that even known Trump supporters within the NFL — including Robert Kraft, the CEO and Chairman of the New England Patriots — have voiced opposition to Trump’s comments over the weekend blasting NFL players who protested during the national anthem. “You have not heard a single person within te NFL raise a voice in support of what Trump said,” Costas said, adding that former Buffalo bills coach Rex Ryan said.

Ethical fashion brand Everlane may be known for its basics, but the label is anything but. The brand launched in 2011 with a t-shirt and the mission to bring high-quality clothing and accessories to shoppers without the high-end mark ups, plus a commitment to ethically-made designs. To do this, Everlane cuts out the middleman and lists each piece at the true cost – and fans of the brand can’t get enough. So much so that when the label announced the news of its new denim line (which officially launches September 7th!) a 44,000-person wait list formed – and it’s still growing!

CNN’s Jim Acosta didn’t care for President Donald Trump’s joint press conference with Polish President Andrzej Duda on Thursday, calling it a “fake news conference” because the president took his attacks on the cable news network abroad. “For the president to go off on CNN as fake news, to me, just made this spectacle feel like a fake news conference,” Acosta said on CNN’s “New Day.” Acosta continued: “This was not an attempt by the president to seek out a question from somebody who was going to challenge him on the issues.” Also Read: Trump Slams CNN,...

At first glance, the idea of a WWE comic seems pretty absurd. It is not super surprising it exists as we live in a world where any licensed property is bound to have some version of a comic, but the more you look at this pairing the more it ends up making sense. Professional wrestling and comics have a lot in common with their over the top characters, larger than life storylines, and their ability to be self-aware in a humorous manner. Dennis Hopeless is able to use that common ground and make this comic much better than it has any business being.
In this issue, we get a heavy dose of the Lunatic Fringe Dean Ambrose. Even if you never watched an episode of WWE before you’ll get a solid understanding of...
