Adelka Polak is a puppeteer, dancer, mask-performer, and movement director who founded Sova Dance & Puppet Theater in 2013. Her work with Larry Hunt's Masque Theatre traveled to Denmark, the Czech Republic, Turkey, Bulgaria and Taiwan. She has performed at LaMama with the Czechoslovak-American Marionette Theatre, Ibex Puppetry and Ty Defoe. She toured nationally and internationally with Squonk Opera who went "from junkyards to Broadway."
She works as a movement consultant for actors who need physical movement and/or puppetry training for their role. Her film credits include Michael Mayar's "The Seagull."
Adelka Polak works throughout Connecticut as a Teaching Artist in early learning programs, the public schools and in rural landscapes with youth to practice and create puppet & dance theater. Sova Theater advocates responsibility to humanity and the environment through arts and education.
