Skeleton Crew is arguably one of the more intriguing Star Wars projects heading our way, with very little known about how the series will fit into the wider Galaxy Far, Far Away (we've heard next to nothing since Star Wars Celebration attendees were treated to a brief sneak peek last April).
What we do know is that the Disney+ series focuses on a group of kids who get lost in space, with Jude Law cast in the lead role as a mysterious Jedi. With a confirmed post-Return of the Jedi setting, we also anticipate it somehow tying into The Mandalorian and Ahsoka.
Collider (via SFFGazette.com) recently spoke with director and executive producer Jon Watts and learned that Skeleton Crew is set to launch this holiday season. That presumably means a December launch.
The filmmaker also shared a new description of the series. "It's about a group of kids...

‘Star Wars: Skeleton Crew’ is the name of an upcoming live-action series that will expand the Star Wars universe. The series is currently scheduled for a 2024 premiere on Disney+ and was created by the duo consisting of Jon Watts and Christopher Ford.
Considering that the show has recently gotten a massive release update, we decided to summarize everything we know about the show in this neat guide.
The show will be a coming-of-age story
The series will follow a group of children, most likely Force-sensitive, who will have to go on an adventure if they want to return to their home planet, from which they got lost after a strange discovery. The children will most likely be chaperoned by Jude Law’s character. He will be the one to find the kids and guide them on their adventure, serving as both a guardian and a mentor figure to the youngest characters.

May 4th annually marks “May the Fourth” in the Star Wars community, and on Saturday the space franchise celebrated the occasion with a new trailer for the upcoming Disney+ series The Acolyte.
As previous previews have hinted, The Acolyte centers on a conspiracy to kill the Jedi in events that take place over a century before the saga’s Episode I: The Phantom Menace, making it chronologically the oldest project in Star Wars’ live-action universe.

A number of us will be celebrating Star Wars Day this weekend, May 4th, by binging as many of the franchise’s movies as we can. Yes, that may even mean working in The Phantom Menace, the much-derided film that set the tone for the rest of George Lucas’ prequel trilogy. One of the primary targets of the hate was nine-year-old star Jake Lloyd, who was taking on a lot of responsibility to play Lil’ Vader. But one guy he had on his side was one of the nicest fellas in Hollywood: Ron Howard, who leapt to Lloyd’s defense after he was attacked in mainstream media.
Ahead of The Phantom Menace’s release, Newsweek published a piece that cited “insiders” saying that Jake Lloyd couldn’t act his way out of a pod racer, with the publication referring to him as “Mannequin Skywalker.” But Howard – who was actually at...

The series follows a group of kids, probably Force-sensitive, who must embark on an adventure to find their way back home after a mysterious discovery leads them astray.
Kerry Condon, who stars in ‘Skeleton Crew,’ shared her surprise about working with children on the show. She mentioned how this production differs greatly from anything we’ve previously seen in Star Wars.
It’s so great. I don’t even have kids, but I’d pay to see this. I loved it. I loved being on it. There was something about it that was so innocent and playful and lovely. People say don’t work with kids or animals, but I don’t know about that.

Movies and TV series, adapted from Stephen King’s outstanding novels, often gain not only large amounts of money, but also massive critical praise, with many of these movies becoming iconic. These include Rob Reiner’s Stand by Me (1986), the timeless masterpiece The Shawshank Redemption (1994) and the horror banger It (2017).
However, not all movies succeed in adapting the accomplished writer’s material and even in honoring the already existing adaptations. The same thing was done by the 2022 sci-fi horror, which is based on King’s 1980 novel, written in his most productive era.
The story of the movie revolves around the couple, Andy and Vicky McGee, who developed supernatural powers as the result of the secret government drug trial, in which they participated as college students. It also led to their daughter Charlie having pyrokinetic abilities, which doesn’t seem like a relevant trait for a child.

Awards season is here, which means it is also time for the annual Golden Raspberry Awards. The Razzies, which aims to (dis)honor the least successful films of the year, has announced nominations for its 44th edition.
The most-nominated film is “Expend4bles,” the fourth entry in the action-packed, but critically underwhelming, “The Expendables” franchise. It received seven nominations. Tied for second place with five noms are “The Exorcist: Believer,” the revival of the classic horror series, and “Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey,” a blood-soaked take on everyone’s favorite honey-loving bear. Two big-budget superhero movies, DC’s “Shazam! Fury of the Gods” and Marvel’s “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania,” both got four nominations.

Horror villains may terrify us and give us countless nightmares but that doesn't stop us from shelling out our hard-earned cash to see them hack their way through innocent victims on the big screen. There are innumerable reasons why these murderous figures have become pop culture icons: their signature modus operandi, their unique looks, the one-liners they spout before causing some serious bloodshed, whatever. From Leatherface to Ghostface, from Pinhead to Pumpkinhead, we simply can't take our eyes off the screen when these legendary monsters make their appearance.
However, there's no better way to undermine the terror and mystery of horror villains than by watching the actors who play them goof around behind the scenes. Not only does it destroy the illusion by revealing that these maniacs and monsters are just people in costumes and makeup but it shows that, in reality, they are about as harmless as Casper the Friendly Ghost.

While we’re still several years out from Star Wars returning to the big screen, we’ve got enough Star Wars TV shows to keep us busy. One of those shows is Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, described as “a story about a group of kids, about 10 years old, from a tiny little planet who accidentally get lost in the Star Wars galaxy. And it’s the story of their journey trying to find their way home.” While speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Skeleton Crew co-creator Chris Ford and star Jude Law dropped a few teases about the upcoming Star Wars series

Mark Hamill is reflecting on his time playing Luke Skywalker in the Star Wars film saga and saying he’s ready to move on.
“I had my time, and that’s good. But that’s enough,” he said during an interview with CBS Sunday Morning.
Hamill has been playing Luke since “A New Hope” was released back in 1977. The actor most recently reprised his role in 2019’s Star Wars: Episode IX — The Rise of Skywalker.
Despite Hamill saying he’s had “enough,” he leaves the door open to having a conversation to continue the role but doesn’t think there’s more story for Luke to have.
“Well, you never say never. I just don’t see any reason to,” he added. “Let me put it that way: I mean, they have so many stories to tell, they don’t need Luke anymore.”

Right from the very start, the thing we’ve known about Star Wars series Skeleton Crew is that it centres on a young cast – its codename title, ‘Grammar Rodeo’, was cribbed from a Simpsons episode in which Bart Simpson and his school friends rent a car with a Fake ID and get in over their heads on a road trip adventure. And that’s the kind of realm Jon Watts depicted a group of galactic kids who escape the school and suburbia of their quiet planet, and head off into the stars – where pirates, a Jedi, and danger awaits.

In the latest season of The Mandalorian_ fandom – you don’t have to look far online to find a surprising level of division between people who all, ostensibly, love the same thing. But not at Star Wars Celebration. The convention dedicated to the galaxy far, far away touched down this year in London – an event bringing every facet of the fandom together, quite literally, in a shared love of the legendary space-opera. In Mandalorian terms, it’d be Bo-Katan’s dream.
This year’s Celebration – packed as ever with live panels, carefully-crafted cosplays, fan meet-ups, and toy stalls galore – was a joyous affair, truly living up to its name. And perhaps its greatest strength was the way in which it looked to the past, the present, and the future of Star Wars – binding them all together, like the Force itself. Looking to the past, there was a particular focus on Return Of The Jedi,...

Blonde and Elvis were among the winners at the 2023 Golden Raspberry Awards.
The awards, known as the Razzies, take place the weekend of the Academy Awards and celebrate the very ‘worst’ in film.
While many of the films nominated did not make it near this year’s Oscars, there is some crossover, with Ana de Armas’s Marilyn Monroe drama Blonde picking up the gong for Worst Picture and Worst Screenplay. De Armas is nominated for Best Actress at the Oscars for her performance in the film.
This year’s Razzies were mired with controversy following backlash for their decision to nominate 12-year-old Firestarter star Ryan Kiera Armstrong for Worst Actress.
Writing in The Independent, Jacob Stolworthy said that “to nominate an Oscar winner, or someone with proven bankable success to their name, is acceptable; to highlight the performance of someone as young as 12 is not just tacky – it’s fairly reprehensible”.

The Golden Raspberry Awards gave itself a trophy for the first time in the ceremony’s 43-year history.
“For nominating someone that should not have been considered, a blunder that was put through the blender and pulverized from one corner of the internet to the other and all media in between, instead of handing out a Worst Actress statuette this year, we’re giving this Razzie to the Razzies,” said announcer Bill A. Jones in a winners’ video, which you can see above.
In January, the Razzies faced backlash for nominating 12-year-old “Firestarter” actress Ryan Kiera Armstrong. In addition to apologizing and raising the minimum age to 18, the awards body replaced her nomination with its own name – and won by “a landslide.”

Blonde has been “honored” with two Golden Raspberry Awards — aka the Razzies — which also bestowed an award upon themselves for the first time in the group’s history.
Andrew Dominik’s film, which led the Razzies with eight nominations, won worst picture of the year along with worst screenplay for Dominik. The Razzies called the film “misogynistic, salacious and fallacious” and said it “shamelessly exploits the memory of the late Marilyn Monroe.”
The Razzie Awards, which honor the worst of the year, are announced annually ahead of the Oscars ceremony, which takes place Sunday. Incidentally, Blonde star Ana de Armas is up for best actress in a leading role at the 2023 Academy Awards.
Razzie organizers also chastised themselves for nominating 12-year-old Ryan Kiera Armstrong as worst actress of the year. After being “put through the cyberworld blender,” as they put it, they subsequently removed her from the ballot and announced...

The Razzies acknowledged the elephant in the room at the 2023 awards – the organization gave itself a dishonor after nominating a 12-year-old for worst actress, sparking internet controversy.
Ahead of Sunday’s Academy Awards celebrating the year’s greatest achievements in film, the 43rd annual Razzies celebrated the “worst” actors and movies.
This year’s Razzie nominations were mired in controversy about the award body nominating 12-year-old actor Ryan Kiera Armstrong from “Firestarter” in January. Hollywood’s bloated egos require some manner of annual deflation, especially during Oscar season. For more than 40 years, that has been the objective of the Golden Raspberry Awards. The Razzies, as they’re (un)affectionately known, have celebrated the best of the worst in film since 1980. The dubious honor has been accepted by such self-deprecating luminaries as Halle Berry (Catwoman), Ben Affleck (Gigli) and Sandra Bullock (All About Steve).
But evolving sensibilities have recently cast a shadow over the operation. In January, in response to social media backlash, the group rescinded its 2023 nomination of a 12-year-old actress (Firestarter star Ryan Kiera Armstrong). Not a year earlier, a fresh win for Bruce Willis and a decades-old nomination for Shelley Duvall were taken back — the former in light of his aphasia diagnosis and the latter for revelations of on-set mistreatment by The Shining director Stanley Kubrick. The Razzies began as a way to poke fun at fame.

The Razzies are under fire for nominating Ryan Kiera Armstrong for Worst Actress in a Movie. The young lead of the Firestarter reboot that came out in 2022 was given this dubious honor for reasons that are hard to fathom. Most people know about the Golden Raspberry awards and understand it’s a rather mean-spirited award. But a lot of people have gone on to accept the nod to the worst performances and movies over the years. One award targeted Bruce Willis but was rescinded after it was revealed that he’d been diagnosed with Aphasia. One could state that the Razzies are

Firestarters, assemble!
The Razzies have been facing criticism over their “Worst Performance” nomination of 12-year-old Ryan Kiera Armstrong for her performance in the remake to Stephen King’s Firestarter story. The fact that she’s a child actor and not a seasoned thespian would usually give leeway to normal performance critiques; however with such a public forum where the awards are known to be more of a condemnation than praise, people feel it was a bit too much.
Variety reports on former Firestarter, Drew Barrymore, speaking out in defense of the young actress in opposition to this action. While the actress was interviewed on CBS Mornings, she had this to say, “I don’t like it. She is younger and it is bullying. We do want to be cautious about how we speak to or about people because it encourages other people to join in on that bandwagon. I’m...

Drew Barrymore, the original Firestarter from the 1984 film of that name is burning mad over the Razzie nomination (now withdrawn) of the new Firestarter, 12-year-old Ryan Kiera Armstrong.
Speaking out on both her own program, The Drew Barrymore Show, as well as CBS Mornings, Barrymore said her “blood boiled” after learning that the young actress was nominated for a worst actress Razzie Award. On CBS Mornings she called the Razzie nomination of a child “bullying.”
On her own show – watch both clips below – Barrymore said, “Listen, I get poking fun at ourselves. I mean come on, fair game, bring it on, but Ryan is 12 years old.” The original Firestarter continued, “Razzie co-founder John Wilson has since apologized and removed her from the category and said they’re implementing a new rule precluding anyone 18 years or younger.”
Barrymore said on CBS Mornings that she was hearted by the overwhelmingly supportive social media response for Armstrong.

Original “Firestarter” actor Drew Barrymore railed against the Razzie Awards after they nominated the 12-year-old star of last year’s “Firestarter” reboot. Child actor Ryan Kiera Armstrong was originally among the nominees for “worst actress,” a decision that led to blowback against the Razzies. The awards ceremony eventually retracted the nomination and issued an apology.
“I don’t like it,” Barrymore told “CBS Mornings” about the Razzie Awards controversy. “She is younger and it is bullying. We do want to be cautious about how we speak to or about people because it encourages other people to join in on that bandwagon. I’m glad to see people didn’t jump on the ‘let’s make fun of her’ wave and instead said, ‘This isn’t right.’”
Barrymore added, “You got to have a sense of humor but when you’re talking about children all bets are off. I don’t like it.

Even though the Razzies have already apologized for nominating 12-year-old Ryan Kiera Armstrong of “Firestarter” as “Worst Actress” and taken her out of the running for this year’s parody awards, former child star Drew Barrymore let them have it on her talk show Thursday, saying that it “made her blood boil.”
Barrymore played the title role in the 1984 adaptation of the Stephen King novel when she was 9 years old and, naturally, feels protective of the remake’s child lead.
“This makes my blood boil,” she said in a segment on “The Drew Barrymore Show.” Although Razzie co-founder John Wilson stated they won’t nominate anyone 18 or younger going forward, Barrymore added, “Please don’t do this to people who are younger. That’s not nice. And I really like Ryan and as [someone who also played the title character in] ‘Firestarter,’ don’t do this again.”

Drew Barrymore criticised the Razzies for nominating 12-year-old Firestarter actor Ryan Kiera Armstrong in the Worst Actress category.

Every year, as the Academy Awards announce their Oscar nominees, The Razzie Awards follow suit with their awards for the past year’s worst films and performances. Armstrong’s name was taken from the ballot, Razzies creator John Wilson said in a statement, and he apologized. Under-18s will no longer be permitted to submit nominations for the awards, he added.
“We have never intended to bury anyone’s career. It is why our Redeemer Award was created. We all make mistakes, very much us included,” Wilson said.
The razzies are already mean-spirited & classless, but to nominate a kid is just repulsive & wrong.

After an outpouring of responses, The Razzie Awards has announced an age limit for nominations following controversy from the event nominating 12-year-old Ryan Kiera Armstrong for Worst Actress. Razzies founder John Wilson posted a statement online apologizing and confirming Armstrong has been dropped from the ballot while introducing a new rule that talent under the age of 18 won’t be eligible to be nominated again. Although the Razzies is known for celebrating the “worst” performances and films of the year, many film fans found Armstrong’s Firestarter nomination tasteless. The film also stars Zac Efron and Kurtwood Smith and focuses on “a young girl tries to understand how she mysteriously gained the power to set things on fire with her mind.” Alongside Worst Actress and Worst Film, Firestarter was also nominated for Worst Remake/Rip-off/Sequel. Former child actor Devon Sawa (Chucky) was among the critics holding the awards show to task.

She was nominated in the category alongside actors like Tom Hanks (Pinocchio) and Jared Leto (Morbius).
Soon after hearing the news, many fans attacked the Razzies for being “mean-spirited and classless”.
“The Razzies are already mean-spirited & classless, but to nominate a kid is just repulsive and wrong,” tweeted actor Julian Hilliard. “Why put a kid at risk of increased bullying or worse? Be better.”
Another person added: “The Razzies are extra despicable for nominating a child actor.”
Responding to the criticism, Razzies co-founder John Wilson told Buzzfeed that roughly...

Update:
Earlier this week, the Golden Razzie Awards announced their nominations for this year’s ceremony (of sorts). Among the nominees was 12-year-old Firestarter’s Ryan Kiera Armstrong for Worst Actress. The nomination hit the public domain hard, with cinephiles and general audiences chastising the Razzie organization for targeting a child to highlight misfires in the film industry. Today, the Razzies’ John Wilson responded to the controversy by saying, “Sometimes, you do things without thinking, Then you are called out for it. Then you get it. It’s why the Razzies were created in the first place.”
Wilson added that the negativity toward the nomination is “valid critisism.” He also clarified that Armstrong’s name is stricken from the final ballot and that the group is “adopting a Voting Guideline precluding any performer or film-maker under 18 years of age from being considered for our awards.”

The group behind the awards faced widespread criticism after nominating the young star of Firestarter
The organisers of the Razzie awards have removed the 12-year-old actor Ryan Kiera Armstrong from the worst actress category after backlash.
The young actor, also known from Black Widow and The Tomorrow War, was included in the annual list of worst of the year nominees for her performance in the thriller Firestarter, a remake of the Stephen King adaptation starring Drew Barrymore. Armstrong was 11 at the time of filming.

The Razzies, the generally disgusting group that nominates the “worst” movies and performances of the year, used to be a group that was fun and witty but in recent years has curdled into something petty and unflaggingly mean-spirited.
That was – shocker! – the case again this year, when the group nominated 12-year-old actress Ryan Kiera Armstrong, who starred in last year’s “Firestarter” remake, as Worst Actress. The outrage was, as you can imagine, swift. And on Wednesday, the Razzies issued a predictably weak-tea response apologizing. How noble!
You can read the statement below, which is attributed to John Wilson of the Razzies, someone who we can only assume has created as much art, provided as many jobs and generated as much happiness as all of the performers and filmmakers the awards routinely, cruelly dunk on. (We cleaned up some of the weird spacing and spelling errors as a courtesy.)

The Razzie Awards are owning their own bad judgment.
After nominating 11-year-old “Firestarter” star Ryan Kiera Armstrong in the Worst Actress category, Razzie co-founder John Wilson issued a statement rescinding the nomination and apologizing to Armstrong.
“Sometimes, you do things without thinking, then you are called out for it,” Wilson said. “Then you get it. It’s why the Razzies were created in the first place. The recent valid criticism of the choice of 11-year-old Armstrong as a nominee for one of our awards brought our attention to how insensitive we’ve been in this instance. As a result, we have removed Armstrong’s name from the Final Ballot that our members will cast next month.”
Wilson added, “We also believe a public apology is owed Ms. Armstrong, and wish to say we regret any hurt she experienced as a result of our choices. Having learned from this lesson, we...
