I Rented Out The Peacock Theater in Los Angeles So I Could Hijack The Primetime Emmy Awards – Check Out What Happened Next! We could very well be seeing videos like that invade the Emmy Awards – that is, if YouTube gets its way, as CEO Neal Mohan said that web content should be considered for Emmy Awards. So smash that like and subscribe, guys!
In an op-ped piece for The Hollywood Reporter, Mohan said that YouTube plays a major role in our society and that content creators are far more innovative and hard-working than one might figure. “If you think creators are just recording vlogs from their bedrooms, then I have some big news. Creators have writers’ rooms, production teams, and business strategies. They’re developing programming that’s not just popular and relevant – it’s breaking boundaries.”

Neal Mohan wants the Television Academy to watch more YouTube videos. The CEO of the Google-owned platform recently penned a guest column in The Hollywood Reporter. His thesis was a simple one: The work creators are doing is excellent enough to deserve Emmy consideration.
“Creators are defining a new era of entertainment,” Mohan wrote. “And they deserve the same acclaim as other creative professionals.”
Mohan supported his case by citing several of YouTube’s biggest channels. He sees the Sean Evans-hosted interview series Hot Ones as a show that is “reinventing” its genre, and he celebrated Good Mythical Morning hosts Rhett & Link for the “speed of their creativity and their strategies to respond to viewer feedback.” Michelle Khare, the creator behind Challenge Accepted, is another YouTube-based personality who is “pushing the envelope,” according to Mohan.
Why is YouTube so keen on the idea of the TV and creator worlds colliding?...

Maya Rudolph returned to Saturday Night Live as host on the latest episode, and the former cast member reprising one of her most beloved sketches: Impersonating Beyoncé as guest on the chicken wing-eating YouTube interview series Hot Ones.
The original sketch aired back in 2021 when Rudolph served as guest host, with “Beyoncé” memorably wilting under the heat of the chicken wings. “This is the only thing that I attempted that I did not slay, and that bothered both me and my husband, my husband is Jay Z,” Rudolph’s Beyoncé...

Of course Maya Rudolph brought her Beyoncé impression back to Saturday Night Live this week… and of course she had to go back on Hot Ones.
Rudolph once again played the pop icon during her SNL hosting gig this week and tried to eat more painfully hot chicken wings as a guest on the talk show Hot Ones. (Rudolph’s Beyoncé previously visited Hot Ones in a March 2021 SNL sketch.) This time, Beyoncé — decked out in full Cowboy Carter gear with a cowboy hat — let host Sean Evans (played by Mikey Day) know right away: “It’s a pleasure for you to have me.

Maya Rudolph brought Beyoncé back to “Saturday Night Live,” reprising her impression to give Queen B another shot at the spicy chicken wing talk show “Hot Ones.”
Opposite Mikey Day’s take on host Sean Evans, Beyoncé returns for the challenging YouTube interview segment, cocky about eating the wings until they become uncomfortably hot. As things get more unbearable, she has increasingly difficult instructions for her assistant, played by Kenan Thompson.
“This wing is stompin’ my ass,” she says at one point. “Damn, my bones are hot. That wing was a real one. Ooh, you’re ’bout to make me sing — This ain’t Texas!”
Beyond the “Texas Hold ‘Em” nod, a highlight was Kenan enthusiastically squirting Beyoncé’s “$6,000 cocoa lotion” into her mouth to soothe the heat, a masterclass in bizarre physical humor.
Rudolph last played Beyoncé appearing on “Hot Ones” on a March 2021 episode of “SNL.” Before this new “Hot Ones” sketch,...

Maya Rudolph is back as host of NBC’s Saturday Night Live and she’s doing what she does best—imitating Queen Beyoncé.
In her best “Texas Hold Em” ensemble, Rudolph appeared in a sketch as the multi-Grammy Award-winning artist on her second visit to the popular YouTube chat series Hot Ones, where celebrities eat spicy hot wings while being interviewed. Her first time in a Hot Ones sketch was three years ago.
“Giddy up, let’s go,” she tells Sean Evans (Mikey Day) as she prepares to sample some of the spiciest sauces she’s ever had. After her first taste, she says, “That’s a tasty wing and it’s not that spicy. I’m from Texas, baby. Your girl likes it caliente.”

It was all about mothers at the top of this week’s pre-Mother’s Day Saturday Night Live.
The variety show dispensed with its typical topical cold open for one that featured SNL castmembers sharing moments with their moms.
Kenan Thompson kicked off the show, appearing on the Studio 8H stage with his mom because, he said, “it’s “Mother’s Day in about 29 minutes,” which, she declared, meant there was still “plenty of time to buy a gift.”
“With so many upsetting stories in the world right now, we thought we’d take a break from a regular cold open and hear some heartwarming stories from our moms instead.”
Still Thompson’s mom said she wanted to see who would play Stormy Daniels in a cold open focused on the porn star’s testimony in former President Donald Trump’s criminal trial. That wasn’t the only reference to...

The stunt took weeks of preparation. Building a tank. Training with freedivers and magicians. Developing the filming schedule.
The end result of the effort, a new episode of YouTube star Michelle Khare’s series Challenge Accepted in which she attempted to recreate Harry Houdini’s deadliest trick, has since garnered more than 4.5 million views on YouTube.
The final product has a production quality that would rival what’s on “traditional” TV (in fact, magician David Blaine attempted a similar stunt for a 2006 primetime ABC special), but Khare produced the episode herself, for her YouTube audience.

When comedian Conan O’Brien’s Hot Ones episode began to pick up steam across the internet, some of his friends got the wrong idea.
“I had a bunch of friends who saw my name all over Twitter and the first assumption is, ‘He’s dead,'” O’Brien said on his Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend podcast. “I did have people say, ‘Oh my God, I thought, “Finally!'”
O’Brien’s appearance on the YouTube hot wings interview show, hosted by Sean Evans, made waves upon its release earlier this month, with fans in awe at the comedian’s commitment to an unhinged performance that featured O’Brien chugging hot sauce and rubbing it on his face and chest. As a result, the comedian said, he was left with “incredibly runny” eyes and a mouth that “really hurt.” He also experienced “burning” across his skin, especially where the substance...

Fans speculated that there was tension between Tom Hardy and Shia Labeouf during the filming of Lawless, a sentiment echoed by the director who sensed something was off. Tom Hardy’s sweet words towards his co-star also squashed the beef even further.

While opening up about her past vocal technique, Shakira said she feels like she used to “overdo” her signature yodel on her older songs.
The Colombian superstar appeared on a recent episode of Hot Ones, where host Sean Evans asked what makes her “cringe or wince” when listening to her music from early in her career.

Actress Gwyneth Paltrow has talked about superhero movies and understands that good films don’t have to be $300 million productions.
Paltrow was asked about director Cord Jefferson’s recent Oscar speech at the First We Feast’s Hot Ones hosted by Sean Evans.
Jefferson won the Best Adapted Screenplay award for American Fiction, and used the platform to beg Hollywood for budget sanity.
“Instead of making one $200 million movie, try making 20 $10 million movies,” he said in his acceptance speech.
Paltrow had featured as Pepper Potts in the ‘Iron Man’ film franchise, as well as in other MCU films including ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ and ‘Avengers: Endgame’.
Paltrow couldn’t agree more, reports deadline.com.

Gwyneth Paltrow confirmed on “Hot Ones” that a rumor about Bill Clinton sleeping through a screening of “Emma” at the White House is true. The 1996 Jane Austen adaptation was directed by Douglas McGrath and featured Paltrow in the title role. She earned critical acclaim for the performance, which continued her hot streak as one of the most recognizable actors of the 1990s indie film boom.
“Is it true that Bill Clinton passed out asleep during a White House screening of ‘Emma’?” host Sean Evans asked Paltrow.
“True!” Paltrow answered. “He was snoring right in front of me. I was like, ‘Wow, I guess this is going to be a real hit movie.’ But it was! So fuck you, Bill Clinton!
“Emma” was a box office success with nearly $40 million worldwide on a production budget under $8 million. The film picked up two Academy Award nominations, one for costume design and another for original score.

YouTube is taking to the skies for this year’s Super Bowl ad.
The big game might be seeing the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers facing off, but the streaming video platform is leaning on the NFL’s bird-themed teams in the spot, which is called “Migration.”
The commercial, which will air just before kick-off, sees flocks of Philadelphia Eagles, Baltimore Ravens and Seattle Seahawks flying through the sky, as a bird watcher tracks them.
“As certain as the sun, they always come back,” he says as Seahawks star Tyler Lockett squawks. “Which is why it’s never too early to prepare for the coming season by signing up for NFL Sunday Ticket and YouTube TV.”
The ad also features cameos from popular YouTube creators, including Hot Ones host Sean Evans, as well as Deestroying and Pierson Wodzynski, a plate of hot wings in front of them, naturally.

Fight scenes in movies are a serious, carefully managed undertaking, especially when they're shot in a way that doesn't allow for the actors to rely on stunt people. Filmmakers obviously value authenticity, but they also don't want their onscreen talent getting injured to such a degree that they wind up in a hospital, thus delaying the completion of the movie and, likely, jacking up the budget. This gets tricky when you're working with actors who want to prove their physical mettle and perhaps outshine their co-star. And when this competition is baked into the drama, well, there's a potential for things to go a little haywire.
There are extreme examples like Jackie Chan and Benny "The Jet" Urquidez's all-out brawls in "Wheels on Meal" and "Dragons Forever," but these men are trained combatants. It's a little different when, say, Channing Tatum and Mark Ruffalo hit the mat in Bennett Miller's depressing true-crime drama "Foxcatcher.

On a recent episode of "Hot Ones," actor Mark Rufflao was invited on to discuss his career while chocking down incredibly spicy hot wings. Sean Evans, the show's host, read a film synopsis to Ruffalo and asked if he could identify the title. Evans read a synopsis for a 1994 film called "Mirror Mirror II: Raven Dance," a straight-to-video horror film put out by the beloved B-movie studio Image Entertainment. Ruffalo, of course, could indeed identify the movie. "That's 'Mirror Mirror,'" he said. "That was probably my first movie." Indeed it was.
Ruffalo pointed out that there was "Mirror, Mirror" and then there was "Mirror Mirror II: Raven Dance," which had a "Penthouse pornstar" as the lead actress and Billy Drago as the male lead. He noted that he played "the series actor sidekick." He joked that he had established a brand with the "Mirror Mirror" movies, sarcastically imitating...

Mark Ruffalo recalled the moment he accidentally popped Channing Tatum‘s eardrum while they were filming 2014’s Foxcatcher.
The Poor Things actor appeared on the latest episode of Hot Ones, where he told host Sean Evans that the Magic Mike star “did ask me to slap the shit out of him.”
Ruffalo quipped that “it was easy to do because he’d beaten the shit out of me so many times” since the co-stars had “like four months of wrestling, of learning how to wrestle together” for the film.
The Bennett Miller-directed film explores the real-life story of wealthy heir John du Pont, who murdered U.S. Olympic wrestler Dave Schultz in 1996. Tatum and Ruffalo play brothers Mark and David Schultz, respectively, while Steve Carell plays John du Pont.

The Bennett Miller-directed film explores the real-life story of wealthy heir John du Pont, who murdered U.S. Olympic wrestler Dave Schultz in 1996. Tatum and Ruffalo play brothers Mark and David Schultz, respectively, while Steve Carell plays John du Pont.
Ruffalo explained that Tatum had “30 pounds on me so when it came time to smack the shit out of him,...

On the latest episode of YouTuber Amelia Dimoldenberg’s Chicken Shop Date, Cher gamely parries jokey questions about where she would go if she could turn back time (age 40, “It was pretty good”) and if she believes in life after love (“Yeah, but it’s rough”), but there’s only one question that evokes true disgust from the singer: “Do you like chicken nuggets?” Dimoldenberg inquires. “Not—at—all!” Cher says, contempt furrowing her brow. She starts to say something about how they’re “inundated,” and the camera cuts to a scene from the kitchen.

Sean Evans and Amelia Dimoldenberg have teamed up for a collaboration described as “the biggest crossover event in chicken-based interview history.” On November 2, Evans welcomed Dimoldenberg to the First We Feast channel, where she guest-starred on an episode of Hot Ones. The next day, Dimoldenberg uploaded her end of the bargain: An episode of Chicken Shop Date featuring Evans.
Evans and Dimoldenberg have used the same format to find success on YouTube. The former creator, a Chicago native, has gained renown for his blistering interview style, which matches the heat level of Hot Ones‘ gauntlet of spicy wings. In comparison, Dimoldenberg’s take on fried chicken interviews is chattier and more flirtatious. The Londoner has attracted more than 370 million lifetime views on her personal YouTube channel, where new episodes of Chicken Shop Date arrive about once per month.

“Hot Ones” host Sean Evans closed his interview with “Chicken Shop Date” host Amelia Dimoldenberg on Thursday with some words of admiration for the British media personality. It was a particularly sweet moment on a spicy show, considering Dimoldenberg could be considered a rival in the business of chicken-centered journalism.
“I’ve long admired you and your work for so long. I feel this transatlantic kismet in what we do and this has been such a moment that’s so overdue and appreciate the fans who have been very vocal about peer-pressuring us into a room together,” Evans said.
“But just the bizarro chicken-fueled interview worlds that we live in, and the way that they’ve grown so organically on either side of the pond, and then becoming friends with you all along. It just feels like a great moment, a bow on the present kind of moment, and with that out of the way,...

“Chicken Shop Date” host and journalist Amelia Dimoldenberg recalled that she registered just how successful her show had become when paparazzi trailed Jennifer Lawrence to the London restaurant where Dimoldenberg conducts her datelike interviews.
Sean Evans, her kindred spirit in chicken-based interviews, opened his spicy wing gauntlet interview with her asking about the craziest behavior Dimoldenberg has witnessed in her time as the host of “Csd.”
“Everyone’s always queuing up outside to get their chicken from the chicken shop and now we actually have security outside the shop to sort of stop people from, not trying to see me, it’s from trying to get some chicken like that’s literally what people are trying to do when they’re trying to get to the chicken shop,” Dimoldenberg said. “We’ve had lots of people banging on the doors like rattling the outside of it. Oh, with Jennifer Lawrence paparazzi followed her.
