Presenting itself as a “lost scene” from David Gordon Green’s Halloween (2018), the 13-minute short Happy Halloween: A Halloween Kills Fan Film was unleashed back in October 2020, you may recall, the short fan film written & directed by Courtlan Gordon and Jimmy Champane.
The killing continues in Happy Halloween Part II: A Halloween Ends Fan Film, Gordon and Champane’s 4-minute sequel to the 2020 fan film that’s now streaming on YouTube.
The team explains, “In this lost scene set between Halloween Kills and Halloween Ends, a group of teenagers spend Halloween night in a seemingly abandoned house.
“Unbeknownst to them, The Shape is waiting.”
The not-for-profit fan project was funded exclusively by Jimmy Champane and Courtlan Gordon, made with no budget but managing to once again impressively capture the vibe of the David Gordon Green sequel trilogy. Much like the 2020 short, the gore effects in this one are incredibly well done,...

It’s now been over a decade since the last Friday the 13th movie made its way onto the big screen, and given the current legal messiness surrounding the franchise, it could well be a while longer before Jason Voorhees returns to theaters. Nonetheless, YouTuber Jimmy Champane is now bringing us word of a recent development that’s given fans hope that the situation could be resolved as soon as next month.
Last September, we learned that Victor Miller, writer of the original 1980 Friday the 13th, had won back the rights to the character of Jason after a lengthy legal brawl with director and producer Sean S. Cunningham, one which has been keeping the franchise in a state of limbo. Shortly after that, however, things took another interesting turn when Cunningham filed a notice of appeal, ensuring that the battle would continue on for a while longer.

Earlier this month, YouTuber Jimmy Champane released a video offering an update of the ongoing legal messiness around Friday the 13th, explaining why Jason Voorhees hasn’t found his way to theaters in over ten years. Now it seems that Champane has followed up that video with a similar breakdown for A Nightmare on Elm Street, a franchise that hasn’t been seen in cinemas since the 2010 remake, despite facing none of the legal complications that have kept Friday the 13th tied up.
While The Conjuring 2 and 3 scribe David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick was hired years ago by New Line Cinema to work on a reboot, you may have noticed that nothing’s really come of the endeavor just yet, and much like the writer himself implied last December, Champane pins this lack of activity largely on the success of The Conjuring Universe.
