Guy Lapébie(1916-2010)
Champion cyclist Guy Lapebie was born on November 28, 1916 in Saint-Geours-de-Maremne, Landes, France. Lapebie cleaned up at the 1936 Olympics held in Berlin, Germany: He not only won a silver medal in the men's individual road race, but also won gold medals in both the men's team road race and the men's 4,000m team pursuit. Guy went on to become a professional road racer after World War II. Mostly known as a six-day racer, Lapebie won six major titles altogether in various six-day racing events. Moreover, Guy also placed third in the 1948 Tour de France. He died at age 93 on March 8, 2010.
