As The Voice brought to a close its Season 25 Knockouts Monday night, the narrative that was being built around one contestant in particular became crystal clear: “Look here, folks! We’ve got the next Taylor Swift on our hands!” But did the show really? I… was not buying the hype. Were you? Let’s go over the evening’s performances, then we’ll have ourselves a little chitchat in the comments.

Is the years-long “The Voice” instant save curse about to be broken? If Blake Shelton‘s Americana singer Jordan Matthew Young ends up winning Season 20 during Tuesday’s grand finale, he’ll make history as the first artist to prevail who was previously saved by social media users. Since the instant save twist was first created in Season 6, none of its recipients have ever gone on to win “The Voice.” Britton Buchanan (Season 14) and Toneisha Harris (Season 18) came closest by each placing second behind their winners, but all of the other times the saved artist finished near the bottom of their respective finales.

Can you feel the jitters? The Top 40 artists on “The Voice” Season 19 are nervously gearing up for the battle rounds, which begin Monday, November 9 on NBC. That’s when each coach will split up their artists into five pairs, who’ll then perform a song on the big stage. But they won’t be in this alone. Four superstar battle advisors have been announced to help out the contestants on their reality TV journeys. They are: Julia Michaels for Team Gwen Stefani, Leon Bridges for Team Kelly Clarkson, Miguel for Team John Legend and Kane Brown for Team Blake Shelton.

This season on “The Voice,” the four coaches seem to be more picky and competitive than ever before. Indeed, at the conclusion of the five blind auditions episodes there were only four artists that received coveted four-chair turns. Tamara Jade and Cami Clune chose Team Legend, Desz picked Team Kelly, and trio Worth the Wait went with Team Blake.
Throughout Season 19 we’ll be tracking what happened to all of the 4-chair turn artists, so scroll down for a closer look at their journeys. Will any of these contestants end up joining “The Voice” winners list?

And that’s a wrap for the blind auditions on “The Voice” Season 19. The last artist to perform during this Fall 2020 cycle was James Pyle, a 30-year-old father from West Hills, California. James put his own twist on Harry Styles‘ “Watermelon Sugar” and quickly earned a chair turn from John Legend, the only coach still with a slot open on his team (watch above). “I’m sorry, y’all!” John told fellow coaches Kelly Clarkson, Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton at the conclusion of the performance. Can James now go the distance and win the entire show? If so, it’d be the first time since Chris Blue in Season 12 that the final blind auditioner ultimately prevailed.

On the eve of the Top 12 performing on “The Voice,” coach Alicia Keys is favored to win this reality competition series for a second time. She mentored Chris Blue to a win in season 12 and a whopping 41% of our readers expect this Grammy winner to do the same for one of her three artists in season 14: Britton Buchanan, Christiana Danielle and Jackie Foster.
Kelly Clarkson may be a newcomer as a coach on “The Voice” but she is the pick of more than one in four readers (26%) to have the winner. Her three artists in the Top 12 are: Brynn Cartelli, Kaleb Lee and D.R. King.
Blake Shelton has coached six artists to victory over the first 13 seasons of “The Voice” and just under one in four readers (23%) expect that he has lucky number seven among his three Top 12 artists: Pryor Baird, Spensha Baker and Kyla Jade.

Not that every member of Team Blake and Team Alicia needed a do-over, but Night 2 of The Voice’s Season 14 Live Playoffs nonetheless gave them all a second chance to garner enough (East Coast) votes to advance. Based on the TVLine poll that followed Monday’s jam-packed sing-off, Pryor Baird looked like the likeliest member of Team Blake to join Kyla Jade, Sharane Calister, Britton Buchanan and Brynn Cartelli in the Top 12; Terrence Cunningham, the frontrunner from Team Alicia. The video, which has been available online for weeks, was featured on Tuesday’s recap episode of “The Voice” that highlighted the Top 24 artists of Season 14. When Alicia Keys was last on The Voice, her team went all the way, courtesy of Chris Blue, and won the competition. Now Alicia is back for season 14 and things are finally starting to kick into high gear with the advent of the Live Shows. The current coaching panel might be the best in terms of entertainment and mentoring but Alicia's return is turning into a winning repeat performance for the R&B superstar. Alicia has built the best overall team and the winner of season 14 will most likely hail from her selection of artists.

Rookie coach Kelly Clarkson is often quick to hit her button, either for a steal or in choosing artists. But that hasn’t been the case so far in the knockout rounds for “The Voice” Season 14. In fact she is the only coach with both a steal and a save remaining for the final two episodes of this round. Alicia Keys has used both of those options already. Adam Levine and Blake Shelton have each used their one and only save, a new feature this year, but both have a steal remaining.

Alicia Keys returned as a coach on season 14 of “The Voice” fresh from a win. In her second stint as a mentor, she propelled Chris Blue to victory last spring. Going into Night 4 of The Voice’s Season 14 Blind Auditions, I was thinking that Alicia Keys wasn’t kidding, like, at all when she told Kelsea Johnson that she was an unstoppable beast who had every intention of winning the show again, as she had with Chris Blue in Season 12.
