With over 20 years experience in the music industry, James entered the world of film by serving as executive producer, and main fundraiser, for the film 'The Ballad of Shirley Collins' (London Film Festival 2017) and chief creator of the film about the New Zealand band 'The Chills' that would later, after funding and developing a proof of concept, go on to become 'The Chills: The Triumph & Tragedy of Martin Phillipps' (SXSW Film Festival 2019) sold on to and released by Notable Films in New Zealand for which James served as Executive Producer. James , in 2019, is sole producer on a new documentary of the life of post-punk survivor Robert Lloyd, called King Rocker (anticipated 2020) written and presented by comedian Stewart Lee, and directed by Michael Cumming (Brass Eye, Toast Of London, Oxide Ghosts). All three films are co-released & distributed by his fledgling company Fire Films, based in London, UK.
