Georges Duboeuf was born on 14 April 1933 in Crêches-sur-Saône, Bourgogne, France. He was married to Rolande. He died on 4 January 2020 in Romanèche-Thorins, Saône-et-Loire, France.
He was a prominent wine merchant, best known for turning a local red wine called Beaujolais Nouveau into a global phenomenon. By the 1980s, his promotion skills had led to its release date being known around the world as Beaujolais Nouveau Day.
