Gary Piland
- Director
- Writer
- Editor
Gary Piland's the kid the other kids' parent wouldn't let play with them - too much imagination, zero common sense.
After high school, Gary helped found a popular regional hard rock band, Limousine, that toured the Midwest for several years. In 1984 he discovered the Macintosh and worked for a large advertising firm doing IT. Finally, in 2003, he opened his own web design, video production and web development firm, Umbrella.
He always wanted to write, direct and produce horror flicks and in 2010, Gary founded Roaring Rat Films, his indie horror film company based in Topeka, Kansas. (Yes, *that* Topeka, Kansas.) With the able assistance of the incredible actors, musicians and production talent right here in the Midwest - he has written, directed, shot, edited and produced five movies so far.
Three zombie-comedy shorts: 2010 - "Zombie Laundry" The original Roaring Rat Films zombie comedy short. 2012 - "Zombie Chigger" A walk in the woods goes horribly wrong. 2014 - "Zombie Tattoo Parlor" Love never dies.
And three feature-length zombie-thrillers: 2016 - "Zombie Beauty Pageant - Drop. Dead. Gorgeous." 2017 - "Zombie, Kansas - Death in the heartland." 2021 - "Blackstone - Hand of God."
All three of his feature length movies are available to stream on Amazon.
Gary's mission? Make cult-classic feature-length horror movies. Oh, and get the other kids to come out and play.
