The strike may have delayed and abbreviated the third season of Abbott Elementary but Quinta Brunson went into it feeling pretty confident that her comedy wasn’t going anywhere: she was told that ABC had picked up the series for a fourth season.
While appearing at Deadline’s Contenders TV on Sunday, Brunson — who was joined on stage by Tyler James Williams (Gregory), Chris Perfetti (Jacob) and William Stanford Davis (Mr. Johnson) — recalled how incredible it felt to know that “ABC trusted us” before they even began production on season 3.
The news of the pickup was made public in February at the Television Critics Associaton press tour.
The comedy just wrapped production last week on the third season. Brunson, who plays Janine in the comedy that she created for ABC, said she still marvels at how far her Emmy-winning comedy has come.

Some of the producers’ survey questions and contestants’ answers are rubbing Family Feud viewers the wrong way.
Family Feud has become a popular weeknight game show, between host Steve Harvey’s comedic presence and the competitors’ often wild answers.
To be fair, contestants often give wild answers because the survey questions themselves can be off the wall, too.
During a recent episode of Family Feud, one of the survey questions didn’t sit well with viewers at home, who thought it was a bit ridiculous.
“Because it’s Hell, tell me something about all the beds there that make them hellish,” Steve read from his cue cards to the two contestants at the podium.
Charles McKissick was the first to buzz in, and answered, “It’s hot,” which happened to be the number-one answer with 31 points on the board.

Months after his life was suddenly cut short, Emmy winner Leslie Jordan has a chance to receive more TV academy love for his final small screen performance as Phil on Fox’s “Call Me Kat.” If he does land in this year’s Best Comedy Supporting Actor lineup, he will join a group of 12 other comedy or drama series regulars who posthumously achieved Emmy recognition. If he scores his second victory, he will make history as the first deceased male actor to win an Emmy for a continuing program.
“Call Me Kat” was the first and only multi-season series on which Jordan played a regular role. In his last few episodes, his character, who worked as the head baker at a Kentucky cat cafe, finally found true love with drag performer Jalen, aka Queen Dicktoria (John Griffin). Following his final appearance, Phil was given a happy ending that involved him...

Call Me Kat star Mayim Bialik has paid tribute to her former co-star Leslie Jordan, whose final episode on the hit sitcom aired on Thursday, December 1. And she has also revealed that there is still more to come for his character’s storyline in the sitcom. Jordan, who sadly passed away on October 24 following a car crash, played Phil on the Fox comedy.
