Antonio Thornton was born in Bruce, Mississippi, and soon moved to Oxford, Mississippi. Growing up in a relatively small town in rural Mississippi, Thornton went on to graduate from Creation's School of Cosmetology and The Natural Healing Arts School of Therapeutic Massage Therapy both in Tupelo, Mississippi.
Thornton first took interest in filming at a hair show in Memphis, Tennessee while talking to a friend. Inspired by both art and creativity, Thornton enrolled in Digital Cinematography at Full Sail University in 2014 and was awarded Salutatorian of his class in 2016. With no experience in film, Thornton applied many techniques he learned as a hairdresser to Digital Cinematography, he believes that both have similarities, one being physical and the other visually through the eye of the lens. He is known for his clean professional clean video and editing techniques.
In more recent years, Thornton worked on The Yard (2018) as Co-Director and Director of Photography (2018), Ricky Dick (2018) as Director of Photography, Jesica Chambers (2017) as a Production Assistant and collaborated with Oxford Community Film Projects #Fifteen (2017) as Assistant Director of Photography and Firmaxx (2016) as a Camera Assistant, Electrician, and Extra. Thornton Final Thesis, Afrissippi gave him the experience of being a Producer, Director, Writer, and Editor. Thornton also collaborated with Student Director Jolisa Miller, at University of Mississippi as Director of Photography on Hope (2015). Thornton Co-Directed/Director of Photography on Dope (2015) starring MsUndastood, a local rapper from Mississippi given him his first experience as a director.
Antonio Thornton has four children, Cheyenne Jones, Antonio Thornton Jr, Mary Thornton and Mason Thornton. He credits his passion and love for the beauty and film industry to his children and he believes that life's obstacles can be seen through the eye of the lens.
