The Curtis Brown Group has launched a new unscripted and entertainment talent division, tapping former Ymu agent Martha Atack to lead it.
The division will offer artists across entertainment, comedy, factual and digital multi-hyphenate representation across the agency with the aim of launching them globally. Existing Curtis Brown Group clients, ranging from comedians to thought leaders, will be brought together under the inaugural U&e umbrella, which will also enable acting clients the chance to break out into new areas and explore unscripted and entertainment opportunities.
Current clients include “Loki” actor Richard E. Grant – who last year hosted the BAFTA Film Awards – as well as former “The Great British Bake-Off” presenter Sue Perkins, newly-anointed “This Morning” anchor Cat Deeley, artist Grayson Perry and comedian London Hughes, among others.

As new music launches go, the arrival of Lil Nas X’s “J Christ” single and video earlier this month was hardly blessed. The artwork that adorned the single — Lil Nas X strapped to a cross and being hoisted up by five people, an apocalyptic sky behind them — led to a predictable uproar from the religious front. So much so, in fact, that Lil Nas X posted a video on his socials explaining the imagery (“It was literally me saying I’m back like Jesus”) and apologizing for offending anyone with the song’s accompanying,...

Now that we’ve had the joy of the Taskmaster New Year Treat with Deborah Meaden, Kojey Radical, Lenny Rush, Steve Backshall and Zoe Ball, we now look to the future, and we’re back at the time where a very special head-to-head occurs between previous winners.

Thank goodness for Taskmaster’s New Year Treat, our annual dose of daft mayhem to lift us out of both our Nye hangover and the ‘Christmas is officially over’ doldrums. And to soften the blow of Taskmaster’s particularly funny series 16 ending, they’ve just announced who Taskmaster’s New Year Treat class of 2024 will be.
It’s a quirky but eminently promising line-up: Dragon’s Den star Deborah Meaden, TV and radio presenter Zoe Ball, wildlife expert Steve Backshall, multiple-mobo-nominated musician Kojey Radical and award-winning actor and future star of Doctor Who series 14, Lenny Rush.
Let’s learn a bit more about them:
Kojey Radical

Chat with Jelani Blackman and it’s easy to understand why a person might want to confide in him. Warm and enigmatic, the musician is the kind of guy you feel comfortable opening up to. Just ask comedian Seann Walsh, who apparently stumbled across the south-London artist at a tapas bar on Portobello Road in 2018, immediately after photos emerged of him kissing his married Strictly Come Dancing partner, Katya Jones.
“It was so mad,” the 29-year-old recalls, taking a sip of his pint. “I didn’t really know who he was, but he was crying. We had a long heart-to-heart, just standing outside the restaurant after it all came out...”
The Walsh encounter is, arguably, a rare example of Blackman being in the right place at the right time. Despite his unique voice – a baritone growl so deep it resonates in the pit of your stomach – he has flown under...

The Brits 2023 are officially over for another year, and it was Harry Styles's night. As predicted, the "As It Was" singer took home artist of the year, song of the year, best pop / r&b, and album of the year - marking the start of a very good 2023 for the former One Direction member, having won the best album award at the Grammys just a week earlier. Wet Leg and Beyoncé both won two Brits, while The 1975, Aitch, and Becky Hill also scooped the top prizes.
Styles sweeping the board even saw him enter an exclusive club, unofficially named the "4 Brits Club." Dave Rowntree, the drummer of Blur, tweeted on Feb. 12, "I'd like to welcome @Harry_Styles to the #4BritsClub. It's been a bit lonely with just us and @Adele these past years. Next meeting in March – you can bring the biscuits." While there are artists who have won...

Harry Styles dominated the 2023 Brit Awards, winning all four of the categories he was nominated in – including Album of the Year and Artist of the Year.
Wet Leg, who also earned four nominations, won the Best Group and Best New Artist awards as the biggest night in British music came to a somewhat predictable end.
Other winners included Beyoncé, Becky Hill, and The 1975.
Follow live updates from the show here.
Album of the Year nominees Styles, Stormzy, and Wet Leg all walked the red carpet, alongside stars such as Lizzo, Sam Smith, Shania Twain, and Jessie J.
Mo Gilligan returned to host the show for a second time after the comedian took over from Jack Whitehall in 2022.
The top prize category – Artist of the Year – attracted widespread criticism this year after no women artists were nominated. The Brits scrapped gendered categories last year.

Sam Fender, Little Simz, and Harry Styles are among the artists shortlisted for the 2022 Mercury Prize.
The shortlist was unveiled in July, comprising 12 albums – from rap and jazz to indie and Cornish folk-rock – that will compete for the coveted award at a ceremony held this September.
This year’s entries are among the most eclectic in recent years. Little Simz is shortlisted for the second time with her critically adored Sometimes I Might Be Introvert, following on from her nod in 2019 for Grey Area.
Rock singer Sam Fender receives his debut nomination for his second LP, Seventeen Going Under, as does pop star Harry Styles, who has been shortlisted for his third studio album, Harry’s House. His record is arguably the most “pure pop” album to be shortlisted since Ed Sheeran’s controversial nomination in 2017.
First-time nominees make up most of this year’s nominees, following last year’s shortlist which included 10 debuts.

In an interview last year, Yard Act frontman James Smith spoke about how his band had “Trojan Horsed” the music industry. The Leeds-formed group snuck into the charts in 2020 amid a cavalry of post-punk acts. Early singles – the juddery “Dark Days” and the foot-stomping “Fixer Upper”, with its funky “Fame” guitar squalls – saw the four-piece lumped in with London bands such as Dry Cleaning and Black Midi. Eager comparisons were also drawn to the Sprechgesang (spoken-word singing) scene populated by Idles, Sleaford Mods, and Black Country, New Road. But Yard Act’s wry yet good-humoured take on post-punk always had that extra dose of salt, Smith’s tongue firmly in cheek.
“It’s weird, I feel there were a lot of good reviews for the first album that I disagreed with,” the 32-year-old says. He’s referring to their excellent debut The Overload, released in January and shortlisted for this week's Mercury Prize.
