Netflix and Blumhouse have parted ways with Lexi Alexander’s “Absolute Dominion,” a sci-fi martial arts film led by Patton Oswalt, Alex Winter and Julie Ann Emery.
An insider confirmed that Netflix will no longer distribute the film, while Blumhouse is no longer attached as a producer. Though the decision wasn’t easy, said the insider, they support Alexander finding another distributor.
Set in 2085, the movie centers on a futuristic martial arts tournament in which the victor wins absolute dominion for one religion. Greenlit by Netflix in April of this year, the Nevada shoot wrapped in August and the film is now in post-production.
Writer-director-producer Alexander did not directly comment on the decision. However, she retweeted the news with the message “Don’t worry, it’s not bad news. But here are the leads…” above images of four cast members.

"Raven's Home," the Disney Channel spinoff of Raven-Symoné's beloved "That's So Raven," made history when it featured a character named Nikki, the network's first openly trans character in a live-action show. In the episode "The Fierce Awakens," which aired on July 8, actor Juliana Joel plays Nikki, Raven Baxter's assistant.
"Growing up as a kid in Florida (like many other kids) I dreamt of being on the Disney Channel, specifically on That's So Raven," Joel wrote in an emotional Instagram post shared on the day the episode aired. "Coming from a typical Puerto Rican family, I didn't think being an actor was possible esp for someone like me, I thought you had to be born into that world. Fast forward to becoming an actor I then told myself I wasn't young enough to be on Disney anymore & even if that wasn't the case I'm Trans!
