Florence Pugh is back on a Marvel set. The actress shared a behind-the-scenes tour of the Atlanta set where she is currently filming the upcoming Thunderbolts on Wednesday.
“Hey guys, how are you doing? I know I’ve dropped off for a little bit, but that’s partially because I was whisked off to Atlanta to shoot a movie that I’m not really supposed to talk about,” Pugh said in a video posted to Instagram. “But I can show you things, sneakily, as long as you don’t tell anyone…I can show you a sneak peek of the set.”

In her video, Pugh appears in costume, lifting the camera to show off Yelena’s suit and then moving to reveal several of the structures under construction for Thunderbolts.

However, fast-forward five years to 2020, and with Whoopi Goldberg showing interest in reprising her role as Deloris Wilson, Disney opted for a sequel, Sister Act 3, as a direct to streaming movie for Disney+ in December 2020. In the years that have followed, the presumed sequel has been stuck in production limbo without gaining much needed traction. Despite its slow pace, however, Goldberg says Sister Act 3 is still in the works!

The James Bond franchise has been one of the most successful action sagas of all-time, and after over sixty years since the character made his big screen debut, the series is showing no signs of slowing down anytime soon. There will always be a debate over which actor portrayed Bond the best, as different iterations of the saga appealed to audiences of different generations that grew up with the films. However, it’s hard to deny how manganous Sean Connery was in the role of 007, as he set the precedent for what Ian Fleming’s charismatic super spy should be. While both Dr. No and From Russia With Love were successful, Connery’s role in Goldfinger is responsible for turning the character into an icon. Although it’s still cited as one of the best entries in the series, the iconic death sequence in Goldfinger simply isn’t scientifically possible.

A Stephen King horror story about a malevolent (sort of) doll almost sounds like something that could've been written specifically for James Wan to turn into a movie. But while the filmmaker behind "Saw," "Insidious," "The Conjuring," and "Malignant" is indeed involved in adapting "The Monkey" -- a short story King wrote for Gallery magazine in 1980 before later including it in his 1985 collection "Skeleton Crew" -- for the screen, he's only lending his services as a producer.
Instead, "The Monkey" is being written and directed by Osgood "Oz" Perkins, son of "Psycho" actor Anthony Perkins and the mind behind such creepily atmospheric and inventively stylized horror pictures as "The Blackcoat's Daughter," "I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the House," and "Gretel & Hansel". Osgood Perkins is also currently riding high thanks to the buzz around "Longlegs," his upcoming occult serial killer horror-thriller that boasts one of the most intriguing trailers in recent memory.

At the end of last year, Deadline reported that the USA Network is mounting a major comeback for scripted original content — a mind-boggling move for the post-streaming era. Under the current plan, NBCUniversal plans to roll out new shows for the ad-supported cable network, with the apparent goal of launching the new shows by 2025. This does not seem like a coincidence as one of the network’s formerly most popular and long-running shows, Suits, started streaming on Netflix for the first time in June 2023.

It’s well-established in the annals of pop cultural TV history: the final season of HBO’s “Game Of Thrones” was one of the most controversial ever, arguably the most hated of any series that was once fully beloved. The Coen Brothers have made plenty of films across numerous decades now, many of them defined by their crime/thriller elements, unpredictable storylines, and trademark sense of humor that can be equal parts dark and absurd. They’ve made some movies without typical villains, movies where no one really stands out as a villain because everyone’s morally questionable, and movies where a character’s bad luck or hostile environment stands in for a more human villain (like in A Serious Man and Inside Llewyn Davis).

With a franchise as massive as this one, it's inevitable there will be tricks of the trade to be mastered. For Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, these titans command the big screen, meaning its human stars, Oscar nominee Brian Tyree Henry (Causeway), Rebecca Hall (The Night House), and Dan Stevens (Downton Abbey), must learn to shape their performances around co-stars that aren't ever in the same room as them.

In 2012, Bob Byington won a Special Jury Prize at the Locarno Film Festival for Somebody Up There Likes Me; last year, he returned with Lousy Carter. Writing about the festival, I said of the film: Introducing Bob Byington’s Lousy Carter alongside the writer-director, star David Krumholtz preemptively noted that while the film was shot and is set there, “Whatever you think of Texas, its politics have nothing to do with the film.” The disclaimer is accurate—this is another of Byington’s immaculately mean comedies with an underlying sentimental streak, a blend he’s been iterating with various degrees of sharpness for […]

Memorable movies often become inseparable from the actors who star in them. From Kate Winslet in Titanic to Jennifer Lawrence in The Hunger Games, it can be impossible to imagine another actor taking on these iconic roles. As such, it's tantalizing to discover that a popular film could have had a very different cast. Often, directors cannot obtain their first choice for their productions due to scheduling conflicts, or a star will decline an opportunity to work on a project in order to pursue a different opportunity. This was the case when it came to the casting of Forrest Gump. This classic film stars Tom Hanks in the titular role, a performance that garnered him widespread acclaim. But originally the role was offered to another familiar actor — none other than John Travolta.

Believe it or not, Jake Gyllenhaal was once in the running to play the Caped Crusader. IndieWire reports (via The Howard Stern Show) that the “Road House” actor revealed he was one of Christopher Nolan‘s final choices to play Bruce Wayne in “Batman Begins.” And that’s not only close casting Gyllenhaal unveiled: Baz Luhrmann was also looking at him to star in the 2001 musical “Moulin Rouge!

John Blackthorne (Cosmo Jarvis) has never been in control, but in the promo for Episode 7 of Shōgun, he is in even more dire straits. Since the English navigator first washed up on the shores of Japan, he has been at the mercy of Lord Toranaga (Hiroyuki Sanada) and a culture he doesn’t understand. He fails to endear himself to the samurai, notably Mariko’s (Anna Sawai) husband, Toda–Buntaro (Shinnosuke Abe), or to his friends. In the new trailer for the upcoming episode, it goes without saying that Blackthorne is not his friend.

Although there’s a healthy debate to be had regarding which of DC’s superheroes is the strongest, it’s fairly evident that there’s no character within the fictional universe who has a greater rogue’s gallery than Batman. Ever since Bob Kane created the character in the late 1930s, Batman comics and adaptations have featured a wide variety of memorable antagonists who challenge the Dark Knight’s physical, emotional, and ethical limits.

"What's the deal with Brand movies?" is probably a question that Jerry Seinfeld would ask in his stand-up. It is a valid question, in just the past year we've gotten movies such as Air, Tetris, Blackberry, The Beanie Bubble, Dumb Money, and the Oscar-nominated Flamin' Hot. Now, it is Pop-Tart's turn, at least it is, according to Seinfeld and Netflix, with the arrival of the new comedy movie Unfrosted.

Kenan Thompson isn’t staying quiet about what he experienced on the Nickelodeon sets.
The longtime “SNL” star, who was a child actor on sketch series “All That” and “Kenan & Kel,” addressed the explosive docuseries “Quiet on Set” that detailed abuse claims from top executives at the network. During an appearance on “The Tamron Hall Show” in the below video, Thompson called coming to terms with the allegations “a tough subject,” especially as he was on the cusp of the era of the Nickelodeon stars in question.
“It’s tough for me because I can’t really speak on things that I never witnessed, you know what I’m saying? Because all these things happened after I left, basically,” Thompson said. “My heart goes out to anybody that’s been victimized, or their families. I think it’s a good thing that the doc is out and it’s putting things on display,...

While most episodes of Longmire stick to purely fictitious mysteries at heart, sometimes the acclaimed neo-Western would venture into more tender topics that have their roots deep in American history. Based on the series of novels by Craig Johnson, the show was never afraid to stray away from the original books in favor of more topical material, and such was the case with Season 3's "Miss Cheyenne." This episode not only highlights the beauties of Cheyenne culture but also notes the dark Native American history hiding just beneath the surface.

For me, watching Jules Rosskam’s Desire Lines, which won this year’s Sundance Special Jury Award in the Next competition, was a cinematic breath of fresh air. The experimental feature combines no holds barred interviews with transmen (of all shapes and colors) who are attracted to men, with a fictional storyline involving a real archive. The result is a riveting look back in time, and to the present and possible future, to reveal how, in the words […]

For his latest film, produced by Jerry Bruckheimer (Top Gun: Maverick), Guy Ritchie (The Man from U.N.C.L.E.) has assembled a suicide squad of epic talent in The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare. Based on an unbelievable true story, Henry Cavill (Man of Steel) leads an ensemble cast into the trenches of World War II, where their mission — the first special forces mission ever — is to, essentially, "scupper Germany's entire plans to take over the world." Oh, and to kill as many Nazis as possible.

In the first season of Disney+’s Percy Jackson and the Olympians, the titular teenaged demigod and his compatriots travel across the country, with stops from St. Louis to Las Vegas, on a mission to prevent war among the Greek gods. However, cinematographer Pierre Gill and his crew never left the vicinity of Vancouver. Percy Jackson is the first show to use Industrial Light & Magic’s new 20,000-square-foot StageCraft Volume in the Canadian city. Gill estimates 30 percent of his episodes were shot in the virtual production environment on its 95-foot LED wall. With the show now streaming in its entirety […]

Regarding MCU dream castings, don’t expect Kristen Stewart to join the brand any time soon, except for one caveat: that Greta Gerwig directs the movie.

Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire is set to rampage into theaters soon, and just like the previous Monsterverse films, the Godzilla vs. Kong sequel boasts a star-studded cast of human characters. The human storylines of prior films aren't usually treated with as much urgency as the monster fighting, but Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire's characters have some added pressure this time around. That's because the latest non-Monsterverse Godzilla film, that being the record-breaking Godzilla Minus One, shattered expectations with an exceptional human storyline populated by fleshed-out characters.

It’s certainly impressive that some of Hollywood’s highest grossing stars are those who are willing to lend their talents to a vast variety of projects within many genres. While the commitment that actors like Samuel L. Jackson or Morgan Freeman show when making films like that vary drastically in terms of success, it's equally impressive if an actor chooses to prioritize quality over quantity.

Is Whoopi Goldberg returning to Star Trek? Her The View co-host Joy Behar seems to think so, at least. As captured by Twitter user Kyle Arking, during an appearance by Zoë Saldaña and director Marco Perego on the talk show to discuss their upcoming film The Absence of Eden, the conversation turned to the latest announcement of a fourth Star Trek film starring Saldaña and her crewmates from the 2009 J.J. Abrams reboot film. Saldaña was asked if she had any updates herself, prompting Behar to advise Goldberg, "don't tip your hand yet" and not to "let them know you got the job." Saldaña was enthusiastic about the prospect of Goldberg's return to the role of Guinan, but for her part, Goldberg denied everything.
