How The West Won!
Movie audiences once again displayed their independence from film reviewers over the Independence Day weekend by pouring into theaters showing the critically panned Wild Wild West (1999). With an estimated $27.8 million for the weekend (and $41.1 million since its Wednesday opening), West was easily the big winner, topping the second week of Big Daddy, which took in $20.5 million -- less than half what it earned last week, but a substantial figure nonetheless. After ten days, the Adam Sandler comedy has earned $84.2 million.
